Final Major Update Speculation V37 - This is the last MUS thread. Speculate in General Chat.

Glancing at other recent update announcements, I've noticed that most of these seem to trend in morning/noon hours. This doesn't eliminate the possibility of an evening announcement, since Valve does as Valve pleases, but that is a piece of data worth taking into consideration.
Additionally, while I do want to believe that the update is coming this week, Blades does have a valid point. Sort of. I'll get to that in a bit.
If this update is a 2-day update, as the previous updates have been, it pretty much has to be announced tonight to land this week. In about an hour we'll know for sure whether or not that will be the case.
If it isn't announced tonight, it's most likely not going to land this week. I don't think they would launch what they themselves have called one of TF2's biggest updates in the span of a single day, like Thursday, or just before the weekend, on Friday.
This would make next week most likely. But if it doesn't land early next week, we find ourselves with another problem: the impending move.
Valve moves offices on the 22nd. That is two weeks and two days from now. Nobody except for them has any idea how long that moving process might take.
If it releases this week, or early next week, they have ample time to fix any issues that launch with the update. Just about two weeks, when most post-update fixes take about a week. There may even be a chance they've preemptively ironed out a lot of these issues before launching, as i doubt they want another MyM on their hands after all this waiting and hype.
But if it doesn't release next week at all, a delay to August actually might be the logical conclusion. I certainly hope that it doesn't come to that, but it is a real possibility worth considering if the clock continues ticking as it is.
30 more minutes and i'm packin it in
2 more hours, and THEN ring the bell
latest blog post ever is about 50 minutes from now. overshooting a bit, friend.
like what's been discussed before, the tf team releases their updates when they're ready rather than a set time, and judging their release based on past years is not a wise decision

If that's the case, we might get the full update on Friday anyway. They seem to be working weekends anyway, so if there are any REALLY gamebreaking bugs...

How often do they release a blog post and the update itself on the same day? i could've sworn it's happened once or twice, but my memory is hazy.
was wrong -snip-

Tough break was released this way
Not recently. As in the past 3 years.
Pretty sure they did that with winter 2016.
Tough break was released this way
No it wasn't. We got two blog posts on two different days.
edit: nah i was wrong, sorry fam ♥
[editline]5th July 2017[/editline]
Pretty sure they did that with winter 2016.
that also didn't make any meaningful content additions. I doubt that their biggest update would be a one-day release.

I'm looking at the blog for tough break and both the "it's coming" and the "it's here" posts were on december 17th. is it at all possible the same thing could happen tomorrow for the pyro update?

I double-checked just now and you're totally right- Tough Break was a one day-deal. Oops.
Surprised they bothered with the "it's coming" post when it released just a few hours afterward, but whatever.
Anyways, I guess it is possible, but I don't think that's ever happened with a Summer Update, and I don't think it's likely to happen with an update of this scale.
Recall that Tough Break was basically just "Gun Mettle: Now With More Gun Mettle!". Unlike Love and War, Gun Mettle and Meet Your Match, it simply iterated on a previous update rather than doing any crazy new things all its own.
fluury can we get the gifs?
may as well give them for tomorrow too.
Looks like it'll officially be a year.

since a new campaign will be a part of the pyro update, it's entirely possible that could release tomorrow and be considered "day one" of the update. seems highly unlikely, though. my optimism is getting the best of me.
snip because it's not fucking happening, fuck everything i'm gonna go play okami
you monster
oizen do you even play tf2 (not trying to be rude just wondering)
Anyways, I'm throwing in the towel for this week if we don't see anything tonight or tomorrow.
Before looking at the move as a reason the update may be delayed, however, I think we need to learn more about the nature of the move. Has any information besides the "when" been released?
The move is on the 22nd, according to Gabe himself. But is this an everyone-prepped-so-it-was-a-quick-transition kind of move, or a we're-gonna-be-out-of-commission-for-a-week-or-something kind of move? The nature of this move and how it's executed makes a big difference in terms of when we can expect an update.

when it's sped up it looks incredibly inappropriate .
It's gonna happen guys I swear.

(Watch as it actually does happen :v:)
Recently, some mappers have heard back from Valve that while there isn't a set deadline to report, they're still saying to keep working on their maps and get it on the Workshop as soon as possible. Keep this all in mind when hoping for an update - once maps are chosen, there'll need to be at least a few days for Valve and mappers to communicate and get everything that is needed sent over and set up. While there isn't a set deadline, they are still open to map submissions. There's still time before the update, even if we don't know how much.
well fuck
