So the Update can only release next week or august?
The one thing people want to know about is *where* this entire "Roadmap" thing spawned from. Who told you this?
Every few days I get emails from people claiming to be Valve employees and delve into way to much info. 98% of the time I'm sure they are just trying to get me to report on something wrong so they can shit on me on reddit. However there has been three times in the last year where things line up, and some of what they say come true. For example, I was told about multiplayer in destinations, and the fact that destinations would be worked into SteamVR. One of those times stated a few things. Valve internally players, valve does test on Mac or Linux, and this roadmap thing. I never use these types of sources in video, one because I still don't completely trust them, and two I don't understand the legal ramifications of actual whistleblowers.
That's what happened.
I see. So the information was derived from anonymous sources of dubious authenticity. What we have here is another symptom of Valve's cagey milieu, as I'm certain such ostensible leakers would be trivialized by a more forthcoming company.
Now we're left to wonder. Whoever they are, they sure do know how to stir alarm.
I'm of the belief that the update will be at least three pages, if not four. This is because the update will be very multi-faceted. I predict:
First Page: Casual gets a decent rework, Competitive gets a major overhaul. New Elo system is implemented.
Second Page: Jungle theme, with new maps as well as possibly more cosmetics. The new short will probably be on either this page or the Pyro page, depending on the subject.
Third Page: Pyro is completely revamped, with most of his weapons being sent through the wringer, as well as new weapons, and possibly a tease for the Heavy update. Weapon rebalances will be featured on this page too.
Fourth Page: New Campaign, buy-in, and non-stock skins, with contracts featuring a new "choose your own adventure" aspect.
This is what I believe will happen in this update. I can sort of see why the update has taken so long when you throw together everything we were promised. I have probably forgotten to add an aspect or two, somewhere...
[...] and possibly a tease for the Heavy update.
I predict that Valve already took the upcoming heavy pack into consideration when balancing the weapons and making the pyro pack. They will indeed tease the Heavy Update and release it within 3 months after the jungle update.

that would mean that Scream Fortress 2017 would focus on/also have the Heavy Pack.

Yes, I think Valve will have to release updates more frequently in order to keep the game alive. I admit that a Heavy Update release during the upcoming campaign is unlikely, so Halloween sounds not too bad imho.

I wouldn't mind the Heavy Update being at the same time as Halloween so long as they don't forget about Halloween all together.
please don't make this another mega VNN discussion again, it happens every time tyler is briefly mentioned
Just found out that Jill posted something 22 hours ago.
Man, this activity is pretty fun sometimes. I love checking if Sheila or Jill posted something in any TF-related site.
vJill is a god, though. He posts in TF2Maps, GitHub, Reddit, teamfortress.tv, Facepunch, and SPUD. He basically lurks and posts in every single TF2 community.
What did he post?

Mind if you could provide a link to his post?
I really hope changes to Pyro could bring lag ccompensation to airblast and projectiles
I play at high ping all the time, and while I'm not a Pyro main myself, neither a good one, I do play Pyro more than average, and it's really frustrating
probably projectiles won't get any changes as it might screw some stuff up, but lag compensation with airblast could go a long way, because currently, with higher ping, it will effectively shrink your airblast range (in reality it just moves it forward) resulting in the window for you to react being even tighter
same for projectiles, sometimes you'll hear your rocket firing then die to hitscan, most situation it's just that you died before your client actually receives the info, but in some cases it's because of lag compensation for hitscan (as in, assuming both will result in a kill, if you fire a rocket and a scout fires at you at the exact time, you will be the one to die because of lag compensation), because of that I can almost never do a sync jump when playing online

If i want to be somehow realistic, Heavy major fix/pack is already included in the Pyro update.
Mainly because of the this one change
All-Miniguns Changes:
The 1-second damage and accuracy penalty now applies to the first second of spun-up time, whether or not the Heavy is firing. Previously, the 1-second damage penalty would only be removed after 1 second of firing.
Accuracy and damage penalties now reset when the Heavy spins down, rather than when the Heavy stops firing. This means if you stay spun-up beyond one second, and fire in bursts, damage and accuracy will remain at 100%.
They basically fixed the most important nerf that everybody were complaining about since Love & War update, and this is a big one that affects heavy directly, so i'm not sure if he'll get anything later.

Perhaps they changed their minds but they at least intended to give the Heavy a class pack, too.

But! Okay, both of them might get new Class Updates at some point. In fact, it's highly likely they both will.
So how thinks next week is the week ?
Agree = Agree
Disagree = later ( August )
It's become apparent that this is going well into August. Correlating the blog post with a release date is silly, as not only is there not one to begin with , but with the office moving and general valve time-response to feedback I wouldn't expect anything until at least then.
Early to Mid August is most likely the correct time frame as Valve would need to perform post-update fixes and additions, on top of the update introducing lots of content. Valve knows that, with TF2's tangled headphones of code, lots of bug fixes will likely be necessary. Not to mention they would probably want feedback after the launch of the update. If Valve is moving offices on the 22nd, they would have roughly a week to launch a major, multi-day update as well as perform fixes and take feedback, which is likely not to happen.

Are they usually multi day updates?
my last exam is on the 16th, if the update isn't out by then, then it has to be august, when my next wave of exams start
paradox, planning a vacation in august?

I continue to believe that this is a stupid expectation.
There are still three weeks left in this entire month - content creators have said more often than enough that valve sometimes goes as far as to just leave a couple of days between accepting the submissions.
The feedback to the blog post was mostly positive so no big adjustments have to be made.
Moving an office, especially judging by the size of the TF Team, does not take 2 weeks.

I've got school in august so it will be hell for everyone who's in school if the update comes in august.
I doubt it will come out in august, and if it does it will be in very early august. This is already the latest summer update. They are giving mappers time but I find it hard to believe that they would give them over 3 weeks to spruce up their aesthetics. After all the team only needs to finish up their artwork which shouldn't take much longer.

Alright,
-The time between where valve responds/accepts and actually implements or ships these things can vary wildly depending on the content, agreement, licencing, and setup for distribution. For an update this big, it would be foolish to think that would be on the shorter end.
-The feedback to the blog post was actually mixed, countless spy mains decried the nerfs, and people who thought things like the razorback actually getting a buff in casual and eviction notice being made awful were drowned out by the masses of irrational/unskilled players who's unbalanced playstyles were suddenly threatened.
Valve has a lot of work to do, unless they take the feedback at face value- something that would be disastrous for balance.
-And finally, do you really think the tiny TF2 team has the resources to both relocate AND manage the post-release of the biggest update in years?
Because I don't. Maybe you've seen something different than the failures of the past four years or so, but that's going to be a really tough sell.
Remember when Love & War came out and they posted a very short animation alongside the main one of the mercs trying out the new weapons/cosmetics/taunts together to give a taste of the update's contents? That was nice. It maybe isn't much, but I'd like for another one of those to come alongside the new short.
But, remember also how that same video teased the beta map testing system through blueprints on the wall a good while before said system was released? They could maybe tease something else in a similar way. Maybe.
I have finally been able to play TF2 since being unable to even get a stable connection since last year with Meet your Match. And honestly, I feel dissapointed. I have been kicked for commenting on people should be using Airblast, ridiculed for asking my teammates to keep an open eye since they were constantly ignoring their corners and getting headshot or backstabbed and I have been unable to get into any of my favorite custom servers.
I don't even think this update will keep me interested, I went and uninstalled TF2 and I am unsure when I will ever attempt it again if ever. I have Overwatch and Splatoon 2. I guess that is more then enough for me since everything just feels terrible about the game now.
This is already the latest summer update.
summer 2013 update was july 10
I really wish the new update will have a dating pun in its name. That would make the update automatically good.
Anyway, I really hope there was some way to put on display the workshop: maybe some sort of queue integrated in the casual play menu that lets you play on official servers with a list of map chosen periodically in the map rotation. Or, even better, some sort of "community quickplay" that lets you play approved servers with approved maps on it. (This way both the workshop and community servers would take advantage)
There are a lot of community servers with common maps and together there are a lot of unused maps on the workshop. It's a good way to not make the game boring, to advertise community servers and to fill insanely long waiting times between updates.

- Once again, content creators said that they literally accepted and thus implemented maps a few days before an Update. Doesn't matter how big an Update is, the speed of that process is the same.
- Far from mixed, there were countless of surveys and the like, I even have one myself with 1k people taking part and it was 100% mostly positive. If all the changes of the blog post would be to become reality, the community would be pretty much fine. They'd only make changes in the case of a massive uproar a là phlog.
- judging by the fact that the move takes place on a weekend and, once again, doesnt take 2 weeks, yeah.
And no, I have not seen "failures" in the past 4 years, sorry to disappoint.
While very useful, i'd be more inclined to believe surveys like yours reflected competent opinion if they weren't polled to the shitposting masses without duplicate checking,

I tried sleeping under a rock once.
And it still didn't help me ignore MyM, the massive update droughts and botched launches/introduced bugs with practically every update since 2013.

These surveys are the best sources you have over the general satisfaction of the playerbase and are certainly more valuable than the rant of Spy-pub main 23#, crying about a crutch getting a deserved bashing.
Other than that you might not believe it, but opinions over certain additions to the game can differ, has nothing to do with being under a rock or not.
Well, it seems valve is trying their best, at least recently.
Should we support them?
