[editline]14th July 2017[/editline] Just another quick post - it appears that [Prep] Team Fortress 2 app on SteamDB is now gone.
:v: Theories: 1. They obviously dont want any of the Community members to see whats going on. 2. It is, in fact, a useless app, and was just deleted so people no longer pay attention to it.
The straws are firmly grasped in both hands it seems. Did nobody read the disclaimer about inactive apps that haven't been touched in months?
Nah man it's not like I literally linked to it.
oh - thanks lol [editline]14th July 2017[/editline]
:v: Theories: 1. The app was changed throughout this whole time, but it was unnoticed by us, so they haven't done anything about its visibility. Now that reddit found it they suddenly delete it, so something must be on the case, because i refuse to believe that they'd straight out delete something that they updated 4 days ago.
Pack it up, the hype is dead. See you all in late August.
One day we belived that they've finally learned to communicate with us properly ... Oh, how naive we were...
Pack it up, the hype is dead. See you all in late August.
why do you only exist to drop unexplained negativity and pessimism here
Hey, let's keep things back on topic here. Will the update be multi-page, single-page, or just a small blog post informing details of the update? I'm thinking two-pages of info, but dropped just a few hours before the update. I'm not expecting a multi-day affair, as we haven't had that since Gun Mettle.
i will block you on steam and set my pc on fire if you ever try to send that to me
Can you send that thing to me before burning your pc? Asking for a friend.
why do you only exist to drop unexplained negativity and pessimism here
That's like half the posters here in some way or another. The line starts wayyy before me there buster.
Is it possible that the tf2 team already moved ?
It would make more sense for Valve to move the bigger teams first.
That's like half the posters here in some way or another. The line starts wayyy before me there buster.
Unlike them, you offer no explanations for your random and abstract claims (see: late August). Seeing as this is a speculation thread, I'd like to see your reasoning behind why you think that late August is an appropriate time-frame. Your post seems perfectly out-of-place, especially with newfound evidence that something could be happening earlier (for example, Valve could be finished moving on the 22nd rather than starting). Though, not only did you post that you believe the update would take place in August but rather in late August. I feel like that's a pretty bold claim to make without giving any further insight? Personally, I don't think Valve would decide to drop an update at the end of the season with the most available video game players. Not to mention, this would be a crazy long time to wait for a summer-dubbed update. Then again, I'm just speculating and inferring based off of things we already know. This is what all of this is about, not just blind guesses. Not to mention that everything you ever post makes you seem extremely arrogant. Get off your high horse, buster.
Yeah, there's a difference between realism and "valve has never done anything right in their lifetime and never will". Realistically, I don't think it will come out later than maybe the second week of August. But I'm optimistic about next week. Fluury said something that sparked some extra optimism in me: What if the TF Team moved already, so that when they release the update (next week), they'll have all the time in the world to fix bugs while the rest of the crew is moving?
It would make more sense for Valve to move the bigger teams first.
There's nothing saying that they aren't allowed to do anything until another team moves.
I would say that that TF2 prep app was removed because: A. Their work on it is done. B. They simply decided they should hide it, when they made the most recent change. Either way, this tiny detail has increased my self-hype meter.

I've had to repeat these reasons several times in this thread, but never in response to a childish personal attack in an attempt to score internet points by trying to shit upon me and what you consider to be my "unpopular opinions". Please stop. But, since you put effort into your post, i'll return the favor; let's review the evidence here of why later may be the case: -The app changes being deleted, as I mentioned before to tamp down speculation -The valve move (possibly competed, we know external events influence the TF team occasionally e.g. the Hawaii trip) -The lack of a workshop/maps deadline -The prop packs being unfinished (they're coming with the update) -VNN's claim that this update "doesn't have a release deadline because it needs to be right" (see: stream) -The lack of VNN's questions being answered (confirmed to happen before the update) Valve has to do things with the feedback they've received from the balance changes post. This is the first time in TF2's history that they've ran it by us first, and we've just now responded to work that's been a year in the making, don't you think that would take a longer time than a shorter one? Then again, I'd love to be wrong. Before you demonize me as some harbinger of negativity, perhaps you should remember that I'm just like you, someone who's played this game for years on end and has seen how great it could be if valve just played attention for once and is probably also frustrated at the reality of where are game is. I apologize if that seems overly negative at times, but the mark has been missed so often that many of us don't know what to think anymore. I would love nothing more than to have a perfectly functional, game-perfecting update drop tomorrow and the TF2niverse rejoice. However I take these things with a grain of salt in my expectations, after seeing what the past 4 years have been like. That's all.

No. These ideas have been discussed by various people often enough to where anyone who's been reading should be familiar. I thought about that, adding that collection of points to everything negative I expressed, but perhaps i'll include a shortened version in the future if it avoids these kinds of accusations.
[QUOTE=C. I just believe that your "contributions" are generally wrong or serve no purpose, overly negative, or lack appropriate research. You also dodge your earlier "late August" deadline with just saying "later" this time. Anyways, I see these first two points to be pointing to earlier rather than later. Firstly, the app changes being deleted seem like they're either done with them or hiding them from the public eye upon discovery. I doubt they just deleted vital changes especially when they know it's crunch time. Again, the Valve move won't (or shouldn't) be that influential in this update's release in my own opinion. The TF team is small, and there's a good chance they might have already moved anyway. This has been discussed plenty of times previously. You also forget that they've been working on this for a year now. A one week move shouldn't be effective at this point. Thirdly, map makers are only asked for final versions. They will not leak this information. Workshop contributors don't even know when they're accepted until the update drops anyhow. Lastly, Valve News Network. I think VNN lost a good bit of credibility with their last few events at least in my own eyes. I also don't think Valve or the TF team are looking at answering these questions as top priority. Even though it's technically confirmed that DRiller said these would be answered before the update drops, whether or not it will actually happen is questionable at best in my eyes. Using this to predict the deadline, at least in my opinion, isn't accurate. P.S. I only respond to things personally when you make it personal. Mocking is more than enough for that. There was no intention to "demonize" you, but rather I wanted to make you realize that you've had a recent history of being unjustly negative towards others' ideas and just in general.

With 350+ employees it wouldn't surprise me if Valve moved over to the new office over the course of at least 2 weeks.

Using this to predict the deadline, at least in my opinion, isn't accurate.
I think you might be underestimating the amount of time it takes to process feedback and approve changes, especially for a team as small as the TF one. While its true that valve is sometimes on the ball about quickly getting to fixes, this is the first time in the update drought we've heard anything about the changes developed for the pyro update. If they can quickly have everything in the blog post (which took them quite a while to release) amended based on a month's worth of community feedback, that would be amazing and I'd love to see it. I'm just a bit doubtful it works like that. Also, as for valve news network, I'd say the questions (submitted before the clickbait video/speculation) are a solid indicator as valve themselves said so explicitly. Anything else is less verifiable, but still noteworthy. Why do you think the credibility of information has gone down with VNN, vs say, how the releases are titled and managed?
So I emailed John/Jill directly, asking this question: "What is appid 1880, '[Prep] Team Fortress 2'?" He answered: "Nothing interesting, unfortunately." edit: so vnn, don't make a video about 1880
So I emailed John/Jill directly, asking this question: "What is appid 1880, '[Prep] Team Fortress 2'?" He answered: "Nothing interesting, unfortunately."
Aw dang it, welp back to speculating.
I replied to that with another question that is hopefully answered as well: "Will the move impact the release of the update? This is something us Facepunch users have been arguing about for more than a week."

It makes me wonder how many exploits have been fixed only because a YouTuber made a video about it.
It makes me wonder how many exploits have been fixed only because a YouTuber made a video about it.
Not a whole lot because most exploitive glitches are reported and tested by sigsegv before they even get posted with "HOW TO 100% CRIT AS PYRO!?!?" titles. Sigsegv only posts about such exploits after he's sent them to be fixed (which takes a day to be hot fixed) however not all his reports or finds are posted to his YouTube for obvious reasons... This is compared to others that throw up a video with the excuse of "I'm helping cuz Volve will only fix it if thousands of kiddies repeat it in the masses!" ...And then not emailing TFTeam about the exploit. God bless him though, if it wasn't for him a lot of bugs in MvM would still be untouched.
It still annoys me the TF2 team still hasn't figured out how to communicate to us better. Just a simple little twitter post or something, "hey guys the update does not have a release date at this time, thanks for your patience!" instead of all these cryptic hints/speculation from "insiders. Just another reason this game is starting to lose it's footing in the eyes of the public.
