Oh we are far past that point, 18 months without decent content and the train wreck that is MyM made sure of that.
Nah, the anti TF2 circle jerk has been going on well before MYM, or even Love and War. The general responses any time TF2 is posted on FP besides the sub forum is a good example of this.
TF2 didn't go down hill when hats were added. TF2 went dowhill when hats were added and we couldn't get them.
TF2 has always "gone down hill" in the eyes of some part of the community. Sometimes it was pub players, sometimes it was competitive players, sometimes it was community server players, so on. The only difference is now we're hitting a point where a majority of all communities are at a general consensus of disinterest. There's no sub-community that doesn't feel like TF2 isn't a shell of what it used to be. This year without any content actually gives me some flashbacks to the year or however long we had gone without new weapons back in 2013-2014. Up until that point it was customary to receive new weapons every big update, so when valve realized we were starting to have too many weapons already it was a pretty hard whiplash to recieve no weapons and recieve at best meager quality of life weapon balances.
I know i'm the minority but I still think tf2 doesn't actually have that many weapons. once you get the terrible melee items, +stat-stats and ruined garbage out of the way, there really isn't that much left. not to mention considering the vast expensive attribute / item development system valve carefully set up through the years for future expansion (i.e items_game.txt), it's pretty pathetic what came out of it weapon-wise. think of the hundreds of weapon models sitting in the workshop for years too. Completely pointless effort.
The game's state is yet another victim of a company that will never change. I can't think of any other game company that's very corporate culture is so fundamentally anti-consumer. Again, I mean no disrespect to the TF2 team, but I wish Valve would auction off its IPs so it can continue to work toward what its best at: farming money from a monopoly and hemorrhaging time and resources tinkering with "cutting edge" (untested) markets. This way, us consumers don't have to suffer the poor productivity of employees that lack leadership and direction, scurrying about like a flock of headless chickens.

Valve fundamentally doesn't care, but I can point out various companies that have a fundamental hate for their user base.
It still annoys me the TF2 team still hasn't figured out how to communicate to us better. Just a simple little twitter post or something, "hey guys the update does not have a release date at this time, thanks for your patience!" instead of all these cryptic hints/speculation from "insiders. Just another reason this game is starting to lose it's footing in the eyes of the public.
To be fair Valve has been way better at communicating in the past few years than any other times in the game's history. If this was just 2 years ago before Gun Mettle we would all be sitting here wondering if TF2 was dead and if we would be getting a summer update at all, but we know a ton of details about the Pyro/Jungle update. That being said I don't think it would kill the team to take a few minutes out of their day to answer the VNN interview questions, and use that to give hardcore fans a status update on what's going on.
Nah, the anti TF2 circle jerk has been going on well before MYM, or even Love and War. The general responses any time TF2 is posted on FP besides the sub forum is a good example of this.
You gotta remember TF2 is 10 years old and has been played by more than 30 million people on Steam, a lot of people quit the game for a lot of different reasons but it's still very popular, especially considering the last non-Halloween major update was a year ago and shipped in a pretty bad state.
Oh great, here comes even more confusion triggered between the Mayann Project and the Jungle update. I really hate these trader-main YouTubers with a passion. They're goddamn leeches who grab onto any possible cosmetic-related topic to make a quick buck. Edit: He recently changed the name of the video. It used to be along the lines of "NEW Confirmed Cosmetics?! (JUNGLE UPDATE)"

This way, us consumers don't have to suffer the poor productivity of employees that lack leadership and direction, scurrying about like a flock of headless chickens.
I don't think Valve's corporate culture is anti-consumer. They actually often try to do things to make their consumers happy (like giving us a ton of free content for their games) and the fact that they're privately owned not publicly owned means they can do things that other companies wouldn't dare do like let developers and publishers make as many Steam CD keys as they want for free to sell on other sites or in physical copies. Can you imagine how many millions of dollars Valve has lost because they do this? The thing is they seem to have incredibly high standards for hiring employees, and their culture is so different from other game companies that a lot of people in the game industry just aren't a good fit for Valve. Gabe Newell talks about how this is an issue in his VNN interview earlier this year. I kinda wonder if TF2 was making money for Valve in the early days before the Mann Co store and the game was just sold on Steam. I get the gut feeling that TF2 probably wasn't making a ton of money for Valve in those days and the reason they kept updating the game for free was because their culture allowed the TF2 team to keep working on the game. Now with the new move to the much bigger office I seriously hope Valve is planning a major expansion which would of course help out TF2. Even though I don't love Pass Time Escalation Studios did a good job on it and I certainly wouldn't mind seeing them continue to help out the TF2 team but I doubt that's happening.

It is reasonable to believe that at least some of the items featured by the Mayann project will be selected for the next round of community cosmetics. The jungle blog post even said "there's a lot already developed that we think will fit perfectly with the theme", and DRiller mentioned Mayann by name during the interview.
So I emailed John/Jill directly, asking this question: "What is appid 1880, '[Prep] Team Fortress 2'?" He answered: "Nothing interesting, unfortunately." edit: so vnn, don't make a video about 1880
Probably reading too far into this but that "unfortunately" may aswell imply that it's not week, as some people, including me, saw that change as "proof" for next week being the week. While I still have great confidence because fucking hell its getting late, this sure did put a damper on the train, thanks for sending that email.
tbh when you get triggered by this you shouldnt be on the internet, because its pretty obvious that the jungle update isnt mayann
I beg of you to form a coherent sentence so I can at least understand what you're trying to convey. What I, at least, believe what you're trying to say is that I shouldn't be on the Internet because it's obvious the Jungle Update isn't Mayann? I have no idea what my individual existence on the Internet has to do with the Jungle Update and Mayann. Anyways, is it really that obvious? Remember the countdown to the Mayann SFM short on the project website and how everyone thought it was counting down to something Valve-related? That was totally obvious though, right. Though, please, explain to me how obvious it all is. How about people in the comments of this very video still thinking that this SFM is related to the upcoming update. Huh, I must be missing something here because apparently everybody can see how obvious it is that these two things are completely separate. [QUOTE=C. Also, I made this edit in my last post, from something like "NEW Confirmed Cosmetics?! (JUNGLE/MAYANN UPDATE)" to whatever it is now due to being called out for clickbait. It's just lazy content with no research done (he even solely credits what seems like the entirety of Mayann to Winglet to further this point). While it may seem unimportant to you, the fact that people actually take people like this seriously irks me. I'm not sure if you're countering me out of spite or whatnot, but I feel like spreading bad info is a bad thing. Simple as that.
but it does seem to be getting closer to next month.
that is how time works
My thoughts on the contracts, I'm thinking it'll be based around the new weapons (not earning them, playing with them in some way). Now, with these contracts being worked into a "choose your own adventure" style,I'd guess it allows more freedom to choose which contracts to do or how many contracts you have pertaining to one class, I'm not entirely sure.

Casual is far from perfect, but it's a major improvement over the two (sometimes) populated community servers in my region, which often voted into maps I can't stand and were rife with steamrolls and stalemates. I don't think I need to say anything about quickplay. Also weapon balance is about as good as I've ever seen it. Even the most egregious stuff at the moment is nothing compared to the days of super-tomislav, enforcer, etc. There's even been a recent trend of longstanding bugs being fixed, like the crouching thing and there was something about hitboxes not matching poses correctly. Game is good.

They are just rarely improved upon and often take multiple weeks to get to this acceptable state. For instance, I loved almost every change in the new weapon blog post. But it's been an entire year and they still aren't even implemented. I'm more annoyed that I have no clue when to expect them than I am for when they come out.

As always, it's really vague. I wouldnt read too much into it.
I don't get it. What's interesting about this?
I think it's either that the Valve servers are viewable from the server browser or that they're playing cp_5gorge, which isn't available in casual as far as I know. Could be wrong, though.
