Alrighty,we might be close to the release of this update (if it actually comes this/next week). Any final thoughts or hopes? I have two hopes and those hopes are that it doesn't release in august and that it has good skins (not just map textures planted on weapons)
One thing that's really impressed me is how many quality community maps we seem to have for this update. I've personally played cp_Overgrown, Koth_Lazarus, Plr_Banana Bay, Pl_Enclosure, CP_Mossrock (a quality reskin of Whiterock which I had hoped would get into the game before this), Koth_Namicott_Jungle (another quality reskin of a map I wanted in the game for a long time, I love the moving point) and SD_Extraction and I've thought all of them are worthy of going official. There are some others I've either played a long time ago during testing or just loaded up in game and looked at that look potentially very good, like Pl_Ququmannz, Koth_Occult, CP_Rumble, CP_Cabrakan, CP_Antiquity and Pl_Humidity among others. Even if Valve goes with 4 community maps plus their map for the campaign I think we'll see several of the maps not picked in future campaigns.
I think the only reason an MVM tour would be bad is it would distract from the new comp. Other than that It would be awesome.
Honestly if we do see another MVM map I think it will be it's own thing with a couple of community maps and campaigns, I don't think we'll ever see anything like 2 Cities again where we got MVM maps and a PVP map at the same time.
A little while ago UeakCrash accidentally uploaded a neat Frontline trailer thing. Was public for about 1 minute, but I am sure that it is not related to the big update we all want.

It's not, it's a huge meme. I'd link it, but it's unlisted and i'll let Crash do the honors if he wants to.

???
-edit nvm-
Anybody think that the crunch time for the update is completed yet?
They've been working over the last few weekends if I recall
I hope the new update adresses this, and i hope valve sees this video
???
Joke video. Nothing to hype or speculate over.
Don't tease me about an MvM update because I would love that, I want Valve to update and expand MvM more than anything right now in the game.

A video about the default settings??
I kinda wanna see the update drop just a few days after the 22nd to see how Geel as his 200 keys responds. Am I evil?

Yes. If this update doesn't drop this week, I'm going to slip into insanity, and in my delirium, I may just see it as my sworn duty to punish evildoers.

Take a closer look at the post you're replying to.
As much as I want MvM content this is supposed to be the Update where your average guy goes "Oh, the forest fire update? you mean the update that SAVED tf2?" and I'm afraid a new MvM tour won't have that effect. Besides I'm relatively sure they would've mentioned it in one of the 32 Interviews and visits if that was the case.

I'm sure after this update they'll make more.
Distinctive futures of Heavy are his large hp pool and his primary.
"Heavy Weapons Guy" implies the usage of heavy weapons, not just a heavy machine gun.
Maybe if his choice of weaponry was more varied(not just miniguns),we wouldn't have to think about tweaking his melee/secondary to be all around usefull.
He needs a medieval mode primary that's straight up a cannon taken from some fort's battlements.
It could fire large cannonballs that deal massive damage and knock enemies away slightly as they hurtle on their path. It could also potentially have more knockback/deal minor explosive damage near point blank, or an alternate fire that lets you load it up with grains of powder (which you have to stand still for, of course) for a devastating shot. The ammo would definitely have to be limited and the fire rate low for such a strong weapon. It would encourage smart use of secondary and melee weapons to fill in the gap between huge bursts of damage.

So basically what demo already has? That wouldn't really be good because it's basically the same thing.

As far as I know TF2 doesn't have full Steam datagram relay support yet and I wonder if we'll see it in this update: https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/580lxa/steam_datagram_relay_beta/
Basically Valve is changing their game server network so you don't connect directly to the game servers anymore but through a network relay. It can help prevent DDOS attacks since people can't directly DDOS a server just a relay point, and you can be moved to a new relay and there are usually small ping time improvements since the traffic spends more time on Valve's network.
Pure speculation on my part but if we are getting this and they're having issues with it than it could be delaying the update.

Steam Datagram was already implemented awhile after MyM.

I'm sure we will get this in the next 4-5 years. Right after we got the csgo overwatch.

Just a small bit of confirmation that the datagram thing is already in TF2. All of those red "N is going to shut down in 700 seconds" messages you get in console periodically is also related to that.
Thus I don't think it's delaying the update.
What could be delaying it, is the update content deviating from the SFM short for any reason (implying the SFM incorporates some of the changes) and the TF team being like "fuuuuuuuck, now we have to change the sfm??"
Are there any weapons you guys are hoping to see changed in some positive way for this update? I'm still crossing my fingers for the Bison and Pomson, the other changes they've shown us back in June all look pretty okay too.
I doubt anything is effectively "delaying" the update. I'm sure we'll see it this week either way.
I'm just scared that given the massive content this update will have theyll find themselves in the famous "bug loop" where they fix 1 thing and break 2 others etc.

I'm not 100% sure that the Steam datagram relay system is fully integrated in TF2 like it would be in CSGO and DOTA2. I do think it's partially integrated in TF2 for matchmaking but not the full node system integration. For TF2 you can actually see the servers and the players connected to them. For example this morning I was playing on 162.254.194.147 and you can view that server if you're my friend and look at the steam server list or see all the games on that IP using a game tracker. It appears Valve runs virtual servers for TF2 which host multiple games on different ports.
From what I'm reading about the Steam Datagram system I don't think we should be able to see Valve servers at all you would just see the Steam Datagram Relay. I could totally be wrong though maybe someone does have more knowledge of the Steam Datagram Relay system.

Fluury my friend I feel like you're even more of an optimist than I am. I'm still not expecting anything until after the VNN questions get answered.
They also promised jungle assets prior to the release of the update, only to later renege. I would take their commitment to answering those questions with a grain of salt.
At this point, a question about a release in june/early july is pointless, and its one of the main questions that the community would be mostly interested in.

The VNN questions? Honestly it would not surprise me if the list got lost under a pile of virtual paper and has been completely forgotten. I get the feeling that we will have complete radio silence until the update finally hits.

If to trust himself - he had been added to "press list" of valve after interviews in march (iirc), and therefore he's able to contact them directly. As for silence until update hits - well, when was the last time they were talking, apart from balancing post?
Competitive has been broken for the past few days, ranks are bugged and no rank progress is recorded or even seen on the results screen.
