Just break it into separate threads: One - for infodumping about the update(VNN emails, leaks, info from map-makers etc.) Another - for shitposting and off-topic discussion(Tonite is da nite,Volvo succs,"Contra argues with someone about Spy" episodes).
I'll be happy to post a "Valve Sucks" thread, but somehow I don't think that's permitted.
I was gone for like 3 days and you guys shit up the thread so badly that it's being closed forever. Wow. I'm going to miss it, but it's true, we've barely had anything to speculate over since the weapon rebalance blog post. Do you think that well get any kind of update in October for the 10th anniversary? I'm sure that they must be holding something back for it, like some celebratory all-class melee or a set of cosmetics.
Honestly, i'd rather much like the sfm short promised to us along with jungle update to be released on 10th anniversary of TF2. If its SFM thats holding them off, i'd just give the short on 10th anniversary, maybe just extend it a little bit, and give us the jungle update now if thats the only thing holding them.
I'll be happy to post a "Valve Sucks" thread, but somehow I don't think that's permitted.
Listen, I understand the hate towards Valve, because they don't make the updates like people want and all that, but you're just going overboard. I'm lurking in this thread every day, just to read all the speculations people have and add my own stupid opinions every once in a while and I see you shitting on Valve day after day. There's always room for criticism, but I don't think there's enough room for being an ass for the sake of it. Call me a Valve shill all you want.
I'm not very fond of Valve as a corporation, yes, and for good reason. However, don't conflate my ire toward Valve with hate for the TF2 team. I have tremendous appreciation for their passion toward the game, as they wouldn't bother working on it if they didn't care. I also believe last month's blog post shows a shift toward a more enlightened approach toward balancing, which brings me at least some hope, despite the fact that many of these changes, again, should have been made six or more years ago.
We have less than 400 posts left, if you wanna complain about Valve/the change made take it to general for now. Don't waste em. I really don't wanna see MUS go without the Update itself.
I'm sorry, but don't you think that your general dislike toward Valve is even less appropriate here then? Regardless, I don't want to steer the thread even further from the topic. What are the chances that the jungle update is set in the same environment as Saxton Hale's hunting ground from the comics?
What are the chances that the jungle update is set in the same environment as Saxton Hale's hunting ground from the comics?
My god, what if the map is Darling's "Zoo" that would be fun to see :v:
My god, what if the map is Darling's "Zoo" that would be fun to see :v:
I thought this was unlikely because there's no chance in hell Valve modeled and animated animals just for a map, but I looked back and it says Hale burnt down most of the zoo. Burn. Pyro. Jungle. Unkept zoo. Hmmmm Also wow, that comic part came out in 2013. No wonder I forgot about this.

Can't we just make a "New content anticipation thread"?
I really hope that the official Jungle map is an MvM map. After all, Gray Mann's base has been shown to be on a jungle island in three major comics.

I would love for the map to tie into the comic somehow, not to mention feature Hale as a character in the SFM short. I actually wouldn't be surprised if he were included, given that model leak last year.

Past that, being encouraged to work on whatever people at Valve want sure is bad for consumers, but I honestly can't blame them for it. Even if I had burning passion for something, you can't expect all people to share it. Most of Valve's faults is the result of this, really. But we got incredible advancements in VR and stuff like that in return.

Nothing that would kill you, I think it has something to do with him just falling asleep randomly. Anyways, is there any chance we'd see a bfb buff? I really like the idea of it.
So, which community maps do you all feel are most likely to be selected for this update?
So, which community maps do you all feel are most likely to be selected for this update?
Cp_overgrown Pl_enclosure pl_ququmannz and that banana plr map
Sigsegv has a disease that prevents him from working at valve. Nothing that would kill you, I think it has something to do with him just falling asleep randomly.
That sounds more like a requirement for working at valve than a complication.
So, which community maps do you all feel are most likely to be selected for this update?
CP_Overgrown, PL_QuQumannz, and PLR_BananaBay.
So, which community maps do you all feel are most likely to be selected for this update?
overgrown, enclosure, bananabay, perhaps lazarus
Ququmannz not only has a bad name , but also still needs a lot of basic clean up work to do on it (IE: Clipping and teleporter map bug fixing). Personally I got plr_BananaBay, cp_Overgrown, Ctf_Aahu and koth_Lazarus on my short list of things to be added in.
Almost definitely BananaBay and Overgrown and maybe that one train koth map.
So, which community maps do you all feel are most likely to be selected for this update?
Pl_ququmannz, plr_bananabay, arena_sacrifice I would say pl_abandonedupward too but that map has some serious optimization issues.
So, which community maps do you all feel are most likely to be selected for this update?
plr_bananabay, cp_overgrown, pl_ququmannz (even though i don't like last one, it seems that community holds strongly to it, and the quality of execution is high enough) Though knowing valve they can pull completely random decision out, and present us with completely different set of maps
Almost definitely BananaBay and Overgrown and maybe that one train koth map.
Koth_namicott_jungle right? That one's pretty interesting, even the normal version.
Koth_namicott_jungle right? That one's pretty interesting, even the normal version.
Yeah, Namicott. Forgot the name temporarily. The only thing that makes it a maybe for me is that you can't track the train/point through walls, so you don't know where the train is unless you keep track of it the entire time. But maybe valve will patch that up if it gets implemented.
I would say pl_abandonedupward too but that map has some serious optimization issues.
not to mention the extreme prop clutter, the broken lighting in the tunnel, the inexplicable addition of gems everywhere, the fact it's just a remake of a stock map... abandoned upward looks nice but I think people confuse the pretty colors for a good map
the fact it's just a remake of a stock map...
I mean, that hasn't stopped Valve with adding reskinned maps for other community updates like Invasion and SFVII
I mean, that hasn't stopped Valve with adding reskinned maps for other community updates like Invasion and SFVII
Halloween always reskins pre-existing maps and Invasion was a community update, not a Valve Major Update if the Pyro Update ships with the usual 4 maps and one of those are a stock reskin- and not even a good stock reskin- I'm gonna have some problems
2Fort Invasion is a very carefully constructed and themed reskin of the most popular map in TF2. It's also currently not playable, except for a few sparsely populated community servers (most run by Skial.) Abandoned Upward is an FPS destroying mess of props. It's fun to walk around in, but I'd not want to play it competitively. It has so much junk in it, I seriously wonder if it was full with 24 players each wearing 3 cosmetics, including a ScoRes demo or two, would it overload Source's entity limit?
