• Final Major Update Speculation V37 - This is the last MUS thread. Speculate in General Chat.

general chat was already pretty much dead, it took over a year for one thread to auto lock, pretty much no one will have a problem if general chat wasn't a thing anymore, but that's probably not the best option we're using MUS for everything, it would be better if we used general chat, for, general chat, and only discuss news and speculations here
As others have said, kill off general if that is the issue. Might aswell even slap a Major Update Speculation(fast) in the title.
There's not really any general chat because there's more people waiting for updates than people who have something interesting to say about day-to-day gameplay or servers or whatever.
I don't play tf2 all that often and am rarely in discussions but i'll always be reading this thread because interesting things are discussed and anything valve is always interesting
The image for Steam on Twitter and I believe Facebook has changed to a more simplistic black/white logo, instead of the blue hue we normally get. [t]https://my.mixtape.moe/elyauy.png[/t] Some speculate that that is being done in preperations of the new Steam UI "Steam Universal". We don't know what this new UI will bring, and since new Steam features/other things are often tested with Valve games, including TF2 (Like the Trading Cards), perhaps there is a connection to be made.
Once upon a time it was tested with Valve games, now not so much.

I believe they also said they wanted a beta out this summer so I would expect to see it soon if they're able to stick to that timeline. I doubt the new Steam UI will really affect TF2 at all but you never know. The only thing I could think of is they could add the Steam Group lobbies to all Steamworks multiplayer games which would be great for TF2.
-words-
From what I've noticed, the posting quality only seemed to improve when the thread name changed to fMus and most of the shitposters jumped ship
As much as I didn't like seeing this, and it's not even the first great tf2 thread I've seen Crapt murder, I think it makes more sense to merge this into general rather than kill general and carry on, since this is more specific and general is.. General.
ehh a logo change isnt going to be connected to tf2 but we will be seeing a ui
That's what I'm considering. A new UI will often bring new features and for all we know the Pyro Update will be the first to "test" that kind of feature. Given the past I wouldn't say its too far-fetched and would also I suppose be a reason why it has been delayed so much.
Here's an inside. No compromise at the moment. Let's see how this goes for the next few days when the thread has closed. We don't want another chat thread, MUS and General Chat are two chat threads at the moment. Garry's orders are that you can only have one. It was worth keeping this around when there was something to talk about, not when you're just beating a dead donkey here. I'll repeat what I said before. Most of the posts in here could of been posted in the general chat thread and not here. Sucks that this thread has to die I agree, we all agree on this, but if there's nothing to talk about and the majority of the posts here are just off topic and shitposting it raises the question, "why is this thread still here when it clearly does not serve it's purpose?" There are options, we aren't killing speculations entirely. We're just killing MUS. Closing this is a lot better then the alternative which would of been changing the thread title to all speculations go nuts and then having us constantly moderate and figure out stuff.
Honestly I just love how you say you have to "constantly moderate". I mean, yeah, that's what moderators do. For the doomfist thing, I don't think that will have an effect on TF2. I don't think the TFTeam has room for setting dates, I think they're just working until they finish everything they need.
Major Update Speculation and General Chat v. 1 As long as MUS is in front I could take that as a compromise
Why heavily moderate a thread that nobody is asking you to heavily moderate? Who cares if people shitpost from time to time, like have you ever played this fucking game before?

A Tf2 UI and HUD redesign would be great, a new server browser, options menu and a better hud.
Well, as one of the mockups include the Scout as some players profile pictures, I would guess a TF2 developer is helping. They could include some crap of the new UI to the Jungle Update.
a new server browser
If this update brings anything that will help bring some light to community servers, that alone would be more than I could ever hope for.
A Tf2 UI and HUD redesign would be great, a new server browser, options menu and a better hud.
think just a new server browser will do tbh, maybe if they made it this? http://imgur.com/a/VmSdl you guys remember this? i sure do, good times edit: the picture kept crappin out on me so heres a link to the imgur post
If this update brings anything that will help bring some light to community servers, that alone would be more than I could ever hope for.
...That's already confirmed to happen.
Major Update Speculation and General Chat v. 1 As long as MUS is in front I could take that as a compromise
Yeah if the hardware subforum can have a "berate computer illiterates and also fucking whatever else who gives a shit" thread, I think a combined MUS + general chat thread is reasonable. It's not like morons from Reddit and the vnn comment section aren't still going to flood in and shit up the place whenever facepunch is mentioned.
...That's already confirmed to happen.
Where is this confirmed?
The server needs to know where the carts are and are they being pushed or stopped by the players too. Everything that requires networked entities, will be using them and path_tracks are one of those. A large majority of maps can be done with less than 1000 edicts, and if you are a skilled mapper, you know the limits and plan accordingly.
I took a look at the source-sdk and it seems like there's no c++ class for path_track on the client + cl_showents doesn't include any path_track entities. Also most point entities (triggers, spawnpoints, teleports) don't exist on the client either. There's no reason for those entities to have an edict attached (at least no reason I can think of)
Where is this confirmed?
They said they were looking into a new server browser during the Sigafoo visit; I wouldn't exactly call that confirmation that it will be included in this update, however.
Where is this confirmed?
https://youtu.be/tOQ8NZ7SSfU Looking back into facepunch I might be able to find a specific timestamp but somewhere Sig said that the TF Team is working on a new server browser. Also I believe the same was said in some Mr.Slin stream. This all goes back to the after-time of Meet your Match so it's not unthinkable that it was supposed to launch in the Smissmas Update, which was supposed to be the Pyro one, but you know.

Are we doing the whole "we're building up the update to beyond what is even actually confirmed to come" thing again? Can we not?
Everything exists in a permanent state of "Schrödinger's Confirmed" until the update drops. Although I highly doubt this update will be yet another cosmetic letdown
They said they were looking into a new server browser during the Sigafoo visit; I wouldn't exactly call that confirmation that it will be included in this update, however.
You've really just cut to the chase with that new avatar there eh?
Working on does not mean it will be here in the Pyro/Jungle update, like Exor says. Are we doing the whole "we're building up the update to beyond what is even actually confirmed to come" thing again? Can we not?
Given the fact that it has been said twice now (Maybe three times actually, didn't Exor have a pal that told him the same?) and a good chunk of time passed, I personally think it's completely OK to expect it. If we don't view that as a thing thats OK to expect we might aswell not expect any balancing changes to make it into the Update. As you said, Blog post said they are working on them, doesn't mean they will be there.
