given that they told sigafoo not to talk much about the server browser, I'd say it's only possible, could be dropped at any point
If the year do add a better server browser that is similar to quickplay, then the people who still complain, "give us back pubs!" can be quiet, I hope...
community server quickplay browser + an improved server browser + a server rating/reporting system would make me happy as can be probably a delusional dream scenario though, we all know by now that Valve doesn't give a fuck about community servers
What are the odds we get new weapons that aren't for pyro with this update?
What are the odds we get new weapons that aren't for pyro with this update?
Low. The game needs to rework its existing weapons and fix issues. NOT to add more. As much as people is excited by new hardware there is plenty stuff that can be reworked into something more competent.
What are the odds we get new weapons that aren't for pyro with this update?
I wouldn't count on it. The fact that more weapons (with more potential to be gimmicky just because they're pyro weapons) is kind of pushing it. Valve needs to focus on balancing the weapons that are already unbalanced, i. e. the wealth of weapons that just are just big piles of suck (huo-long heater, sharpened volcano fragment, enforcer) as well as the weapons that still just give people dumb advantages (diamondback, reserve shooter). also, since multi-class AND soldier balances don't mention the Reserve Shooter at all, I'm scared that they didn't and won't touch it because i really don't like that weapon
What are the odds we get new weapons that aren't for pyro with this update?
A speed pad for the engi would be great.
What are the odds we get new weapons that aren't for pyro with this update?
We kind of already got two new weapons, the new Panic Attack and the new DDS.
The panic attack is the prime example as to why new weapons do not add to the game if they're going to just sit in your inventory doing absolutely nothing.
What are the odds we get new weapons that aren't for pyro with this update?
Tbh i have a feeling that we might not get any new weapons as seeing that there is going to be a crap ton of balancing, i think the addition of a new weapon would cause everything go upside down.
Tbh i have a feeling that we might not get any new weapons as seeing that there is going to be a crap ton of balancing, i think the addition of a new weapon would cause everything go upside down.
New weapons are confirmed as the "Pyro pack"
New weapons are confirmed as the "Pyro pack"
Oh i never knew! i must have missed it or forgot about it. Thanks for the clear up
New weapons are confirmed as the "Pyro pack"
A lot of people want Pyro to have a primary weapon that relies more on aim accuracy than blindly going forward hoping for the best or using gimmicky combos. (Something more similar to Quake's Lightning Gun) I wonder if these changes will be applied (if applied.) to the stock flamethrower or just on the new primary weapon they are going to release with the pyro pack.

Let's look at it this way, by this time next year, the update will have happened!

And visible fire particles need to be attached to those points. edit: hey guys
Let's look at it this way, by this time next year, the update will have happened!
Is even that a guarantee at this point?
Is even that a guarantee at this point?
Yes, it is a guarantee, unless Valve and the TF Team want TF2 gone forever.
Yes, it is a guarantee, unless Valve and the TF Team want TF2 gone forever.
are you sure you want to give Exor an opening like that
Is even that a guarantee at this point?
Surely you're not so unbelievably pessimistic as to think that Valve would leave TF2 high and dry for two whole years.
i. e. the wealth of weapons that just are just big piles of suck (huo-long heater, sharpened volcano fragment, enforcer)
Here's my dumb ideas for those three. Huo Long Heater: I've always loved how this thing looks but it's an absolute pain to use in any mode that isn't payload offense. Right now it's fairly unique in that it's a good idea to bring a shotgun with it because it guzzles ammo. I say we enforce this synergy by making it have a 50% quicker rev DOWN speed, and a 50% faster weapon switch (maybe just to secondary.) Volcano Fragment: Perhaps the absolute stupidest and shittiest weapon in the game, make it do something unique with afterburn. Maybe -5 health drained per second while held or -25 max hp in exchange for 50% greater afterburn damage while held (counts for afterburn applied from any source). I'm kind of at a loss for this one. Enforcer: The guaranteed damage component is neat but essentially useless because you only get to fire one shot before it goes away. I say remove the disguise gimmick entirely and just let it always pierce resistances, at the cost of -50% or maybe even something more extreme like -80% max primary ammo. Tell me how shit these are.
The problem with the Enforcer's resistance piercing is that it flat out doesn't work against most resistance effects in the game. Video from a year ago: http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Enforcer
Bugs The Enforcer's piercing effect does not work against the following weapons: The Fists of Steel The Battalion's Backup The Invis Watch and reskin variants, Cloak and Dagger, and Dead Ringer The Wrangler's shield on Sentry Gun. Sentry Guns sapped by the Red-Tape Recorder. The Enforcer does not deal additional damage to enemies equipped with the Pain Train.
(just firing with MOUSE1 does not engage this, and instead just acts like the stock minigun. Holding MOUSE2 causes you to lose ammo much faster while increasing your damage output. Also, the ring of fire is now constant instead of pulsing, so a Spy stabbing you will be lit on fire no matter what.) (-) On MOUSE2: Movement speed is decreased by 25%.
Sharpened Volcano Fragment I want this weapon to have a +damage attribute and an afterburn that stacks with the Flamethrower's afterburn, for a slower swing speed and possibly a damage vulnerability. An actually decent offensive melee. Enforcer Maybe a nerf to cloak and decloak fade time, for a buff in straight damage? The enemy would be able to catch you easier, but you'd have a stronger self-defensive weapon.
Surely you're not so unbelievably pessimistic as to think that Valve would leave TF2 high and dry for two whole years.
A number of years ago, it was inconceivable for even six months to go by without a major update. Now we're a few weeks beyond 365 days; take from that what you will.
Now we're a few weeks beyond 365 days; take from that what you will.
Speaking of benchmarks, today marks a month after the balance blogpost on June 20th. You'd think...
Man we are just eating through these posts like candy. Anyway, Pyro update is probably coming august. Will it be early or mid august? Mid august would lead to less people because college/some schools start up then, but early august would lead to some issues with the massive flood of players coming back to try the update for a day or so.
but early august would lead to some issues with the massive flood of players coming back to try the update for a day or so.
...what? This would happen if it would release next week or even today.
When people say we don't need new weapons, they seem to forget classes like the Medic or the Spy who barely have anything to work with. Like, yeah, we don't need Soldier Secondary #11, but the Medic only has 3 more weapons total than the Soldier has in that slot alone.
I have no idea how valve is going to get through with the heavy pack but I got an eerie feeling it will finally be the real end.
