Man we are just eating through these posts like candy.
Anyway, Pyro update is probably coming august. Will it be early or mid august? Mid august would lead to less people because college/some schools start up then, but early august would lead to some issues with the massive flood of players coming back to try the update for a day or so.
How many do we have left/threads lock at again?
Also no, I was dumb bombed to oblivion for suggesting a late august release date and a collection of things that point to it. Yet every week these ideas seem more and more realistic...

gotta get in some of that Major Update Shitposting before it's gone forever
I have mentioned a few pages back that I would give away my Skullcracker taunt if the update does not drop on or before the 20th. I don't think its happening today.
Using random.org and a random number generator, I have selected the user that gets my taunt
The winner is...Septimus01!
Congrats! I hope to get you the taunt very soon!
I bet 200 keys that it will be out before then.
So how are we going to do our trade for 200 keys?
Same here. I bet that the update would come, and it didn't.
Congratulations [t]https://my.mixtape.moe/wslizn.png[/t] you are the proud winner of that Pyro Sweater and anime that will likely get you in jail if you were to watch it in public!
This is just an appetizer, we are all just waiting on that geel payout.
Geel's already dead from his bet last year. I'm sure 200 keys isn't as bad as losing his life... right?
Anyway, now that we've burned through July, I feel like we won't get the update until mid-August. Maybe a blog post saying "We're not dead," but I think that might be it.
geel no, jill's gonna delay it now

So how are we going to do our trade for 200 keys?
the real reason the update got delayed:
jill wanted to teach geel a lesson
'Know what screw you guys, it's not gonna be August. I refuse to believe that. I'm more likely to believe this rando's 4chan "leak" than that August is the month.
Here is my last Bet: Update will release in July. If not, I'll be giving a User 50 Vita-Saws. And Anime, this time the gay kind.

I don't think the update is this month either, but saying "we've burned through July" doesn't make sense. It's not like we're past the anniversary

Actually another thread posted the next day had the OP claiming one of their friends wrote that leak and that it was complete bullshit. Just as unsubstantiated as the leak itself but it doesn't help things.

You'll probably also draw the raffle you created back in april before the update hits, you may draw for the items I added too.
but I'm not giving up, I'm betting the brigade helm I got as a drop the other day that something will be announced by next week (announcing the update or the update itself), week is saturday to friday

And back to the mus shutting issue, at this point, considering general chat took over a year to auto close last thread, and current thread only has like 10 pages, I'd say it won't be a problem, the extra shitposts won't have a considerable effect seeing the amount of shitposts we already have
While I still disagree with shutting mus down, I say we merge them instead of killing one off, as someone suggested, change it to mus and general chat and it's all good
EDIT: if I win your raffle please send the gay anime to contra
If the update did release next week, I believe the update would not fall on Thursday. Reason being that the major Overwatch update is on thursday (Doomfist and possibly Summer Games), people would probably be more likely to buy crates from OW rather than TF2, because OW is a limited time event. I feel like TF2 would go the route of dropping a day or two earlier to oneup OW
I don't know. maybe it's not something that stupid and petty and the jungle update would release on Thursday
Don't get excited for the birthdays of either TFC or TF2, the team has stated before (or one of the members) that they don't plan on anything special for either of them. So either it'll release in august, or if it's pushed more, it won't be worth the longer push.

finally, a raffle for me
I want to write a big post about why I want this update to massively change casual, but I think everyone's gone through the motions of the faults of casual enough times as it is...simply put, I stopped playing after MyM dropped because it single-handedly killed the TF2 pub experience; I started playing again only recently and I'm already losing interest. The community servers I frequented that tried their best to replicate the experience died off, and despite its large active playercount, the game feels dead to me.
If this update is unable to somewhat fix the damage MyM did for me, that'll probably be it for me, which is a shame for a game I've been playing for so long and by far have the most hours in.
I saw the title briefly on the main page and panicked because I thought this thread was about the final major update for TF2.
made me TEAR up

May as well be the final update amirite
Honestly, I would wait until a late August update for a hitscan flamethrower. The current version is just awful.
There's over a hundred new posts since yesterday, I thought we were moving to General Chat? Plan seems to be failing.
MUS is an extremely popular series of threads, it's just being abused right now due to an update drought. But whenever there is an update incoming, or information comes out, there are many like-minded people who are passionate about TF2 discussing and discovering new things about the update, and the future of the game. It's basically a representation of the 10+ years of history this game has, and the community it has built up. And clogging up General Chat with speculation that isn't related to other discussion going on isn't the way to go about punishing a couple of bad apples breaking the rules.
MUS should stay, and we shouldn't have people who don't even care about TF2 have jurisdiction over the subforum. The subforum's standing as one of the most populated aswell also shows how many people still care about this game and its community, and the possibility of it being removed just isn't fair to the TF2 community.
EDIT: To reduce post count, I will be posting this here.
Before the inevitable deletion of the TF2 subforum, I have created a discord server for the TF2 Facepunch community.
Discord invite: https://discord.gg/mrWVqPa
This discussion will also be going on in the server, so the post count will be reduced here further.

It doesn't help that the conversation leading up to MUS getting taken down was not exactly the best in terms of reasoning.

To be fair, many of those posts were caused by the closure of MUS; people reacting with memories, paying respects and such.
Even the occasional argument for keeping it, eh?
And they're right, too. It'd be a shame to see such a historic part of the TF2 section gone over a stronger than usual dry spell.

How would a hitscan flamethrower work anyways? Has anyone made a demonstration of that?
I assume it would be like the lightning gun from quake
https://discord.gg/mrWVqPa Discord for those who still want to talk about update (hope this isn't against the rules here)

Like the Short Circuit presumably, which personally I find frustrating to use. You can't really tell what its max range is easily.
Closing MUS because of rampant shitposting and lack of any major updates are very good reasons imo.
The Pyro update needs to be really good and give people hope this game still has more to come, but it feels like Valve is really trying to move away from TF2 more and more every year. I wouldn't be surprised if the upcoming update is one of the last major updates for the game ever.

Yeah, I would agree, TF2 seems to be in its death throes at this point, at least for post game support. I feel like the community will largely need to fall upon modding to continue expanding the game in any way. If I was going to predict anything, it would be that Valve would try and implement something like Creator's club so that we can get truly community updates, so that Valve no longer has to involve themselves with the game. But with their current track record it seems more like something they'd suggest they were doing and then never actually finish implementing

Mods have long since been dead.
Yea, rip the entire reason I liked tf2 when I first got into it.
