So Im gonna assume for a fairly long time.
It's not going to be THE biggest, it's gonna be one of the biggest.
Besides, more maps, new weapons, new SFM is already confirmed. Voice lines and taunts are a given either way.
Just dont expect MvM content.
More money wasted for me :vs:
I'm fairly sure "new SFM" hasn't been confirmed for the Jungle Update/Pyro Pack Boogaloo. An SFM has been rumoured to be in the making, but I don't think it's tied to the Pyro update?
It has literally been confirmed, somewhere either with Dane or VNN's Interview. It's gonna be around 5min length, however.
(This week is the week for either the Balancing Blog Post or Emails, im feeling it)
Exact sources are important.
It was confirmed in the VNN interview.

and we're also doing a new TF short film (that is supporting the update) ... it will be somewhere around 4-5 minutes
why are you guys stalking a valve's employee now? :/
thats creepy from you vnn...
Twitter posts are literally the opposite of stalking
You should see the comments on many different news outlets regarding Pinkerton's departure, the reactions toward Valve as a whole range from apathy to antipathy. Valve now possesses next to no good will among general audience gamers, and their favorability among players of the three currently serviced multiplayer titles has been steadily declining for years.
If anything a 5-minute SFM will be a perfect goodbye from TF2 writing's team. Even if they're all gone now they had to have wrote the short film a few years ago.
By the way, I honestly do wonder if Valve's previous balancing decisions were enacted with class usage statistics in mind. For example, if they were more lenient on classes such as Scout, Sniper, Soldier, etc. simply because of how many people play them. It's the only justification I can fathom for their inaction over the years, and that's a hard pill to swallow, given that it means the team was being intentionally unfair. These are the sorts of questions I wish VNN would have asked--I mean, I suppose I'll ask them myself, but somehow I think the team prioritizes people they've worked with/met in person.
The entire writing team isn't gone, there are still other people on the TF2 team and at Valve as a whole. A lot of the people that have been leaving have been in the game for decades, and there's still plenty on the horizon for those that are still there. The people on the team genuinely care about the game and will be able to move forward without senior writers on board. Whatever your thoughts are on what they do with the game stats-, management- or content-wise is a completely different topic, but I'm very certain that the people on that team love TF2 and love creating for TF2, and that won't be changing any time soon.
I'm not sure why people here praise the MvM update so much. I thought it was pretty lackluster in general. It added an alright gamemode, but besides that, it did very little to impact the gameplay overall.
the not-pvp update doesn't impact pvp. who could have known?
Still a bummer Moby Francke left awhile ago, wonder what he's doing now
EDIT: oh he's with Riot games
Not to change the subject here but I just had a thought.
What if Valve released a crate that contained all the missing cosmetic pieces from sets in the workshop that weren't added?

Perhaps the content creators would feel less robbed.

I think the reason for valve doing that in the first place is that they might've thought the items looked a big generic or that there was something a bit similar in game already, however they've contradicted the latter tons of times with hats added in the past. I dunno honestly.

The last thing I expected from the TFTeam is to announce Heavy fist tournaments.
Well, it's a thing. Today I learned.

stuff in the news tab is generally written by the hosters of the event and suggested to be put there by the very same folks in an email- same way that league events, sigafoo's 7s events, etc, end up in the news tab
Hi, long time lurker, first(ish) time poster. Deciding to crawl out of my cave since this update is going to hit some time soon (hopefully)
Out of curiosity, what's the #1 change you all hope to see in the new update? and what's the earliest you guys expect any more news (such as a blog post or Tyler's questions being answered) to arise? I for one hope to get something by the end of next week, but I feel like that's being overly optimistic.

Some hope we get some sort of news by the end of this week because If memory serves, the blog is supposed to come out about a week before the update making this week the perfect time.
Have the blog this week and have the update the week before the summer sale.

I just want Competitive to be a real mode.
Other than that, I can see the blog post or questions launching today or tomorrow, and if not that defo next week.
They showed off stuff from the new Update to content creators, you really think they would do that if the Update was still a month away?

cp_sulfur, actual 6s implementation, diamondback and YER getting rebalanced into cool, new weapons that expand how spy is being played without being over- and under-powered, respectively
earliest I expect news, Friday, but I'm not counting on it at this point
blog post I'm HOPING within the next few weeks, but there's really no telling on what's going on with the update right now besides "The TF Team is in cram mode" and "Soon™"

Yeah it's pretty easy to get on the news tab if you have some sort of TF2 related community event and send it to Valve.
Now what Valve really needs to do is set it up so the newest item in the News tab shows up in game. Maybe once when first posted and once on the day of the event. I imagine the news tab doesn't get much visibility with the TF2 community.

I would normally say HATS HATS AND MORE HATS!
But changewise, I'd loke to see some changes done to the weapons that were nerfed into oblivion, to see if they can be viable again.
Not to mention having some styles that are on the workshop for existing hats implemented.

It'd be nice to not have heavy completely fucking nerfed again for no reason or explanation

Don't blog posts for updates usually come the day before launch?
So this happened :

not even sure how to react to this, it's like "wow" and "ow" at the same time

At this point, I'm positive that something happened internally that caused this wave of talent to leave. It's scary to think about, because under no circumstances will Valve officially discuss it, but it seems that things are not as happy behind the scenes as we are all lead to believe. I also mean in a different way then the cliche "Valve's a Highschool" that everybody pushes out to get the popular Valve sux article. I have a theory, and it's been in the back of my mind for months, and I may talk about it in a video, but I really hope it's not the case.
Keep in mind that the contracting work won't be any less than what has been on the table in the past - it'll still be good. Makani was contracting for quite some time prior to being a full hire and was still putting out quality work. The "eventually" comment is just a self-aware jab at the fact that these things, they take time.
