At this point, I'm positive that something happened internally that caused this wave of talent to leave. It's scary to think about, because under no circumstances will Valve officially discuss it, but it seems that things are not as happy behind the scenes as we are all lead to believe. I also mean in a different way then the cliche "Valve's a Highschool" that everybody pushes out to get the popular Valve sux article. I have a theory, and it's been in the back of my mind for months, and I may talk about it in a video, but I really hope it's not the case.
I think at least part of the issue is Valve is 20 years old and people who were with the company since the beginning may be getting close to retirement age if they were in their 30s when Valve was founded.
I don't discount the possibility that something may be going on behind the scenes as well. I would keep an eye on Glass Door and see if any new reviews pop up in the near future.
Keep in mind that the contracting work won't be any less than what has been on the table in the past - it'll still be good. Makani was contracting for quite some time prior to being a full hire and was still putting out quality work. The "eventually" comment is just a self-aware jab at the fact that these things, they take time.
I'm mostly worried about "if not" part
Don't blog posts for updates usually come the day before launch?
The blog post we're referring to is a blog post on the balance changes they've promised to make, prior to release, and then listen to our feedback.

Welp, the pyro update is looking to be a real downer then.
You heard it here first folks, whatever valve has done for this game recently is now likely gone to waste because of internal disputes, and will likely manifest in the form of the 4th buggy, watered down and unfinished major update in a row.
Damn shame really. At least we'll get some hats.

It seems it was only the writers who left, and, not to disrespect their work, but they are not that vital to the actual game development process - the humor is integral to the comics, shorts, voice lines and update pages, yes, but those things aren't the main course. Even if there was drama, in a professional environment it's rare for it to put a stain on the work. Otherwise the GTA or Witcher games would be complete shit, for a random example.
Bottomline: there's just too much we don't know, we don't even know if there was a drama or they left in peace, but whatever the case, I'm leaning on the writers leaving not having correlation to the update's quality. Worst that could happen is some writing being a bit dry, but since Pinkerton's still contracting I'd be surprised.
I think we are jumping to conclusions, lets see how the update looks like and judge it on its own merits.
I can't help but kinda tilt my head like "really" at how difficult handling this comic has been for Valve
it's not even a game, it's a comic. like, jeez
So this happened :

I don't know much about comic writing, but I assumed that the script would have been knocked up in a week or two then the artists would be left to their own devices. I just thought that he would have finished it before he left Valve, is all.

That proves that they probably didn't even start the writing for #7 yet :v:

Don't worry, they have all the energy and the time to do it, if it's for DOTA 2 or VR. :v:

3.5 VR Dota fans on this planet must be rolling in happiness because of Valve's dedication

Portal 2 wants a word.

Jesus Christ, dude. This isn't just jumping to conclusions, this is a fuckin' triple-rotation moonsault to conclusions.

Do you have any evidence to the contrary of equal weight? The TF team talked a big game during the interviews, but what we've seen so far has been the fails i described earlier.
Do you have any evidence to the contrary of equal weight?
All available information indicates that most of the Pyro update is already done, and the writing team leaving would really only impact the short/comic at worst, assuming they haven't already done their parts of those respective jobs. Pinkerton also said that he's still working for Valve as a contractor, too, so he's clearly still involved, just not completely tied to them anymore.
A wave of mostly non-TF2 writers leaving Valve has little-to-no impact on an update thought by most to be right around the corner, especially not when the most TF2-associated writer we know of, Pinkerton, is still working for Valve in some capacity.
Do you have any evidence to the contrary of equal weight?
Firstly, the fact that we have no actual evidence that any sort of internal strife is going on at Valve, and are making assumptions based on nothing but conjecture.
Secondly, even if there was something going on behind the scenes (which there probably isn't), there's no reason to yet presume that it would have any tangible impact on the update this late in development.
Y'all aware that Mr. Pinkerton isn't the only writer, right?
There are several we dont know about, Jay leaving is a shame but it wont destroy anything, even though a decent worry should be warranted.
However going from "Jay leaving" to "The Jungle Update sucks ass" is beyond stupid, thats actual mental gymnastics.

Fuck off dude,
Not like you have any evidence either

Some people never do.
MUS v37: Few Quality Posters Remain
Welp, got a spare of every non-reskin weapon in the game, and around 20 refined or so. Think I'm ready to craft whatever fresh hell the Jungle Heat update brings.

I've been ready for three years, check out my backpack.

Same, but what I also prepared are primary, secondary, and meele tokens with enough pyro tokens to use them all on his new weapons. I have low faith that the new cosmetics will be craftable, so I'm not too worried about stocking up on refined... You never know, though
MUS is usually the more calm, cool, and collected TF2 news site, so I ask, why do many of you seem to think there will be a blog post soon? or even an update soon? Was there any news pointing to that?
No, there isn't. We saw a map playtested by the saxxy winners, but other than that there's absolutely zilch.
Expect cloudy with a chance of absolutely nothing until late August, judging by recent update timelines- back to Bob, with the news.
They pushed a patch out on a Saturday which means they're working weekends. They may like tf2 but they don't like it enough to work a weekend unless they're in crunch mode.

What I've been thinking, on top of the team telling a few people, myself included that they will (for the most part) be radio silent until "after work load becomes more manageable."
Knowing update release history this is usually the point when we learn "it was planned to release this week but has been pushed back a week due to [unexpected technical issues]
