They pushed a patch out on a Saturday which means they're working weekends. They may like tf2 but they don't like it enough to work a weekend unless they're in crunch mode.
But then haven't there been instances when they've done it even in the middle of their own winter break? I always thought this stuff was sent into some sort of automated deployment queue or something so they finish this stuff up on a weekend and go and enjoy Seattle over the weekend while the patch drops. If it's an important drop for a future update, why drop it at all on a Saturday instead of, say, Monday?
Knowing update release history this is usually the point when we learn "it was planned to release this week but has been pushed back a week due to [unexpected technical issues]
which is fine, better a late update than an unplayable one.
Knowing update release history this is usually the point when we learn "it was planned to release this week but has been pushed back a week due to [unexpected technical issues]
I certainly hope the update releases fairly soon, but I'm curious as to how long they're going to wait between the blog post and the update. If I remember correctly they said they wanted community feedback before launch, so it all depends on how long they take to make the necessary changes once we see the patch notes / balance changes
which is fine, better a late update than an unplayable one.
Hasn't stopped them from doing both before
i just hope it can live up to the hype or at the very least stand on its own as a good update regardless of wait time, either way I'm perfectly satisfied [sp]also please let that "leak" of the weapons turn out to be somehow valid and the forest fire gets put in, that's a dream come true for me uwu[/sp]
Honestly I can't wait to see the update. Let's do hope that it does live up to the hype building up.
What I've been thinking, on top of the team telling a few people, myself included that they will (for the most part) be radio silent until "after work load becomes more manageable."
Unmanageable workload?? They had an entire year to work on this project, for which they admitted to half-baking the seasonal updates of in order to do so. I guess you can't wait until the last minute if the release date can be delayed indefinitely. My theory of how badly this update is doomed doesn't seem so far fetched anymore, does it?
And i can't play the new update.

My theory of how badly this update is doomed doesn't seem so far fetched anymore, does it?
Working with old/not your code usually means that even the simplest changes can uncover an underlying issue that you will need to invest work hours to solve. You clearly underestimate the headache potential of a 10 year old game. Think trying to make a led light blink red but you realise that for its previous purposes it was coded to only blink red after it blinks green if the day of the month is a prime number, tomorrow is a fullmoon, and after it blinks red it will also blink yellow and turn on your toaster and microwave. So you begin cleaning up the code and refactoring other methods to work like they used to but also take into account when it blinks red because it blinked green but also when it blinks red on purpose and make it differentiate between the cases, you test if you didnt break it, you're wasting a day or two and you have just a single function done. Now consider you didnt know how it worked before and aftee you make it blink red you notice your toaster and microwave are running and begin looking for references to the the toaster in your code, only to find out some idiot made the red link also turn yellow and turn on your toaster. tl;dr old code worked on by multiple people is a pain to debug, test, and add onto so the fact their workload isnt manageable is expected. Sums up working with old code and the amount of duct taping it inevitably already is. Source - I do that too but with a different platform. Huge pain.

mentioning, but not sharing supposed leaks in MUS  come on ikes it's like the point of the entire thread
Leak?
-snip 4chan link-
If I recall there was a pastebin somewhere with a bunch of steam workshop links claiming them to be the weapons/items added in the update. Most likely not legitimate.
-snip-
Leak?
There was some 4chan post about how someone interviewed people who went to Valve about what was going in the game and a pastebin with some workshop links. They didn't interview any of us and it was all very fake.
You don't understand much about software development do you
I keep getting this "I know more than you do about X, but instead of explaining it I'm just going to make zingers" vibe from you. If you have a better understanding of how valve works or doesn't than the rest of us, please, share it. Truth be told geel, I have absolutely no idea how to develop this game. None of us do. That's why we're curious as to the process. IIRC most people in MUS over the years have said they'd probably be easier on valve if they were more transparent about the things the team has to deal with instead of keeping us in the dark. That's also sorta why this thread exists.
If you google TF2 4chan leak you can find it. It looks like BS, only one of the weapons is a Pyro weapon.
mentioning, but not sharing supposed leaks in MUS  come on ikes it's like the point of the entire thread
the pastebin died and it was a 4chan thread that wasnt even remotely trustworthy lmao [editline]8th June 2017[/editline]
If you google TF2 4chan leak you can find it. You act like because they're working hard that means the update's going to be shit. Why would that be what that means? What is the reason you draw these conclusions? What information on the process do you have that makes you look at them working hard and draw that particular conclusion? You do not answer these questions.
Your Pessimism isn't justified whatsoever. Reason why so many people think it's soon because they are in Crunch Time, Updates usually come out in June, several Content Creators such as the Ban-man have said that the Team has been dropping hints, and because they literally showed off content to the workshop dudes. All of that indicates that the Update is very much close to done. Does that mean we can expect the Update next week? Probably not. The Blogpost though? I say yes.
Will the blog post include just the balance changes or will it include everything that will be in the update? They said they will release a blog post with the balance changes for feedback before the update but I don't see them just making it about the balance changes then re-uploading the balance changes again for the actual update page.

Attempting as you claim to disprove my supposedly evidence-free theories with a similar lack of evidence, suggests you're doing so just to mess with me, or to spin some kind of anti-narrative for an unknown reason. I will yield to objective facts or a convincing argument like any rational being in this regard, yet you've admitted to providing neither of those, and it makes me wonder... Why. *Scaramouche voice* So come on, whip it out babe. Why are you really doing this, hmm? Edit: okay, samurai jack miiight have been a little over the top.

Also, im kinda curious... how long after they release that blog will they actually launch the update? I can't imagine valve to post it and ask for feedback, and then release the update in 1< week. I'd imagine it to take much longer for them to look through all of the suggestions

Honestly I would be way, way more worried right now if the TF2 team wasn't in crunch time.

There's no definite evidence of anything, it's just making inferences of what could or what is most likely to happen based off what we know.
