item drops are still random. I believe there is a cap to how many items you can find a week. I think its 6-7 a week? Crates done affect the drop rates.
I just find crates. it gets annoying
item drops are still random. I believe there is a cap to how many items you can find a week. I think its 6-7 a week? Crates done affect the drop rates.
Thank you, I had someone in a casual server tell me it was based on the level but that sounded weird, they've been nerfing our drops ever single the idling stuff so thats not too surprising
The tricky thing with incentives is that tf2 runs on an economy unlike overwatch, so you can't just give people free things without messing up something else. It'd have to be untradeable, which could make people not care about it.
I'm kinda sick of the economy being put before the quality of the game. Fuck the economy.
I'm kinda sick of the economy being put before the quality of the game. Fuck the economy.
-snip- I was trying to say that fuck the economy essentially the same as saying fuck the game
I'm kinda sick of the economy being put before the quality of the game. Fuck the economy.
Why bother with incentives at all if "Fuck the economy" is the prevailing mindset among you? Having something tangible alone should be enough incentive as it shakes things up, but with the staggering number of people who do nothing but goldbowl and orangetower, that statement doesn't apply to a large quantity of players.
I'm kinda sick of the economy being put before the quality of the game. Fuck the economy.
ah yes fuck that thing that's kept the game alive for the past 5 years, fuck all of those people with inventories full of items reliant on a sustained economy to maintain value
I'm kinda sick of the economy being put before the quality of the game. Fuck the economy.
Yeah, fuck the only source of revenue that Valve has from TF2. We'll all be a lot happier when they finally get rid of the economy and have no financial incentive to continue working on it.
Why post, then?
Didn't put that right, I was just trying to say what Geel said basically
There is no way it's any later than early July. I mean, we wont reach the "1 year without Update" Anniversary, right? It's gonna be June, right?
Yeah, fuck the only source of revenue that Valve has from TF2. We'll all be a lot happier when they finally get rid of the economy and have no financial incentive to continue working on it.
While it's an outlandish sentiment to desire the economy's complete collapse, you personally appear to care more about it than the game itself. At least, that's what I've gathered from your posts up until this point. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me, it isn't my desire to censure you.

It can't be ad hominem because I'm not making any argument; I'm making an observation that may or may not be true.
I fail to see why someone having an extensive knowledge of the economy choosing to defend said important economy is in any way worth verbally observing, especially in a way that implies his opinion is bias and therefore inconsequential

I bought my house because of tf2. That doesn't impact what I've said though. Can you in any way demonstrate how what I said is inaccurate, or are you just trying to poison the well?

There's no implication to be made. I'm simply curious, and perhaps I should have saved such a comment for a private message. What opinion would I be attempting to impugn? That the economy is important? I have no intention of claiming otherwise, although I wouldn't ever say it should take precedent over other gameplay-oriented matters. Of course, I have a difficult time grasping how one could enjoy TF2 primarily through its economy, but that's just me. Perhaps the latter comment is what I'm really getting at, but it isn't at all a condemnation, just baffling. I don't mean to be insulting ir confrontational. Sorry.
You can tell our last major update was last October; people are getting restless and arguing over stupid shit.
halloween 2016 was trash and i want to forget it ever happened 2015 was cool tho
halloween 2016 was trash and i want to forget it ever happened 2015 was cool tho
Was this because of the comic? There was little difference between the two if you exclude that.
You can tell our last major update was last October; people are getting restless and arguing over stupid shit.
As soon as someone mentions the economy or nerfing the soldier, everyone explodes.
Every halloween was a letdown for me after they stopped dropping spells.

People say things and "point out observations" for a reason. It also kind of stings that you'd imply I don't really care about TF2 the game. It's my favorite game of all time. I've gotten really good at it. Do I care about it as a game more than I care about my literal career? Of course not. Nobody does.
I don't want the economy to be removed, especially the Godsend that is the steam market which allows me get stuff without dealing with the scum of humanity that are TF2 traders. However, I want it to be reworked somehow, make it less monolithic, something new and exciting.
I bought my house because of tf2.
Well shoot, toss some of that dough my way, help a brother out. You and me were always best pals you know that right, we're like 2 eggs in a chicken's ass.
Was this because of the comic? There was little difference between the two if you exclude that.
The comic was a good touch, but I also liked 2015's maps a lot more. 2015 also had the benefit of being the first Halloween update like it- Halloween contracts were a cool new twist on Halloween and its free gifts, but weren't as exciting the second time around. Of the 2015 Halloween maps, I liked Gorge Event, Moonshine Event and Sinshine. Hellstone had its moments too. Of the 2016 Halloween maps, I liked...Pit of Death. Nothing else really appealed to me, plus there were less maps overall. Maple Ridge Event was particularly abominable, because not only was the map of mediocre design, it also had no real Halloween twist whatsoever- it was just a normal KOTH map with pumpkin bombs and nothing else of note. It didn't even change its geometry like Sinshine did! No powerups, no modifiers, no bosses...ick. Additionally, it also had an announcement for submissions a total of...two days, I believe, before the cutoff date, and a number of excellent maps (like Slasher) failing to make it in due to that insane deadline. That's a disaster of management if I've ever seen one. Overall, 2016 was a massive downgrade: less enjoyable maps, less maps in total, recycled event teaser, recycled contracts, and a far more rushed release schedule.

I rushed getting the map out there, and ended up delivering something that lacked a certain amount of polish that should be expected of a map. The map itself was made from scratch in a little over a month, and blitzed through the dev process in order to haphazardly throw it up on the Workshop. With it being too late, it's given me more time throughout the year to fix it up and make it a better experience - and I, along with the rest of the Slasher team, hope to submit a much better candidate for this year's event.

I certainly hope it gets in- I still had fun with last year's version. :)
The drop system currently doesn't make any sense, nobody likes it and valve doesn't make any money from it, it could really use a rework
They should add a backpack page for weapons only, and make it so everytime you get a new level you unlock a new weapon. They can either make a list or make it random. These weapons can't be traded or crafted or anything, they're just like stock, and they don't take space in your actual inventory, just like in CSGO.
I was thinking that, you start with only stock weapons, and every 5 levels you unlock a weapon for each class, this makes all weapons accessible to all players without overwhelming them, as for drops, say you can get a maximum of 3 drops in a week?, you get a drop when you level up, drops are tiered skins with a rare chance of getting something good (like dlore/medusa drops in csgo), current weapons gets an extra feature or something similar to vintage weapons, then add a metal sink, maybe allow crafting skins into metal later
