I'm just conflicted where I don't want heavy to be nerfed but I know that in his current state he messes with the core balance of 6s, meaning that the whip/gru speeds will have to be rebalanced.

By this I mean that on mid people would have a 5v6 at first, but then their Heavy comes in and just wrecks everything. A risky tradeoff, but worth it in the end. ATM heavy barely can compete against 2 people without preparation or the Brass Beast. If 5CP is still a main thing.

I don't want to have a lengthy 3-hour argument, but I've been able to use the brass beast competitively to my advantage, topping the scoreboard and all. (can provide logs) In short: Just learn positioning.

I've been playing the game since 2009 with Heavy being my 2nd most played class and the Brass Beast has been my go to minigun ever since it was added purely for the extra damage, I just can't seem to get the damage in with the stock minigun and when I do I always feel a bit disappointed since I know that if I had just had that bit more damage then the person that just killed me or won the game for the other team or the scout that ran past me and got a large killstreak by tearing through my teammates could have been stopped if I had use the Beast.
The problem about heavy is that he is very underpowered with/without a medic on maps such as 5cp or attack/defense. However, he becomes completely overpowered and even more deadly and annoying than a sniper once he gets a medic pocketing him 24/7 on pretty much every other gamemode. I feel like if they just buff or nerf him, he will become more/less viable on 5cp and more/less overpowered on, well, every other gamemode. I suggest they completely rework his character in a way that doesn't confuse people and make him more of a crowd control class than a high damage/high health class that he is right now.

I've eventually got a strange one with a [url=http://steamcommunity.com/id/hell-met/inventory/#440_2_1342951142]comical[/url] name and killcount. I love the way it rewards tracking with more punch. It's my emblem item and makes shotgun/KGB very terrific to use when the opportunity presents itself. I've had adventures with the brassbeast before you probably were playing the game, just as a reference. Not to mention the weird resistance thing is the only reason people would stand up for it nowadays (which I didn't get to use for the longest time of my games with it). Still pure garbage in the long run. Stock outdoes it anywhere. You won't find anyone of high skill claim it's any good.

The heavy similar to pyro needs to be given a mandate as to what to do. If he's a tank? Then make him able to wall damage and not simply die 1v2 against anyone. If he's an enforcer/area denial? Make him deal substantial impact with the minigun and flesh out the skill depth. Either way, the class has suffered the consequences of mass-appeal nerfing over the years despite being the face of team fortress 2, and really needs to be rethought. I have no idea what kind of competitive environment you were using it in (outside of 5cp lasts or the playground hold till death on upward first), but the idea that the brass beast is useable for anything beyond that or Mann vs machine is absolutely bonkers.
