People fly and fill up entire auditoriums to watch comp Csgo, you don't think they talk about it...
These are people that are involved in the scene, not casual plebians.

You said play competitive, big difference between players and supporters
Every time I play the Pyro I just get bothered by how ineffective the class is. Unfortunately it's kind of fun when it does work, so I keep coming back to it. Hope the patch actually does something about it.
You said play competitive, big difference between players and supporters
The players ARE the supporters. People that dont play or atleast played competitive CSGO dont have any interest in supporting it/watching it.
STFU's days were always numbered once they added message boards for every game directly in Steam.
I see what you did there, and I approve.
The game has to be balanced from the top down. A good casual game that isn't ass to play means a strong foundation in skill and teamwork, and the everyday experience built from there.
I don't know how I feel about the idea of comp overshadowing casual, scary thought imo
This game is a meme on the rest of the internet.
The top rated reviews, are: "HATS, IGN- 10/10"
Googling images and videos of it yields POOTIS and Team Fabulous 2(RIP kitty0706)
Unless we get a team fortress 3, Comp will NEVER overshadow the main game, or even come close to it.
The players ARE the supporters. People that dont play or atleast played competitive CSGO dont have any interest in supporting it/watching it.
That is just false
That is just false
So you think there are people out there that don't play/played CS:GO yet are really invested into the comp scene, going to stadiums and buying merch, talking with their friends about the recent competitive scene of a game they dont play?
So I looked into this whole June/July thing and the truth is... it is very likely if we base it on previous major update release dates.

At the moment, I'm more worried about when the blog post will be released than when the update will drop.
So you think there are people out there that don't play/played CS:GO yet are really invested into the comp scene, going to stadiums and buying merch, talking with their friends about the recent competitive scene of a game they dont play?
I'm pretty sure that describes the average sports fan, of baseball, hockey, football, etc. quite well.
And also considering CSGO is a major E-Sport, streamed live on ESPN right alongside coverage of professional basketball.
Similarly to American football, CSGO also has a huge fantasy league/betting scene that I'm fairly certain most of the people involved in don't actually play in, but rather bet and make wagers on, and discuss like you said.

Usually it is 1 - 3 days before the update hits. Sometimes if Valve is nice, we get some teasing info a little earlier.

TF Team promised to have a blog post before the Update detailing the balance changes to get feedback.
TF Team promised to have a blog post before the Update detailing the balance changes to get feedback.
Yeah, but we all know how it goes when we are promised things.
I can't imagine how fulfilling that promise would be an astronomical feat for them; after all, it isn't as if the process of writing a blog post would present unforeseen complications. There are only two scenarios that would halt its progress: either the balance pass isn't finalized yet, or they simply can't budget time for such a thing. I have a hard time empathizing with the latter given how I'm fairly certain such a thing could be easily stamped out in an evening at home, which is something most professionals do when the work (almost always) exceeds the time spent in the office.

anecdotal, maybe, but i have friends that haven't touched league of legends in years yet we still talk about the competitive scene and watch games of it together all the time, one of those friends literally went to league of legends worlds in london when his last game was nearly 3 years ago
i mean hell there's dota players that don't play the game and watch the events, if esports is going to take of as a sport it's kind of important that people outside of the game's fanbase enjoy it or else it's never going to grow beyond the game's limits and make any sort of profit. tournaments basically act as advertising campaigns for games like that because people that don't play the game get involved and eventually end up playing the game

That's what I meant, you *played* League before and are still following the comp scene - you know the game, know how it works.
It's true that tournaments are also good for advertising the game - but that wasn't what I was talking about, I was disagreeing with the statement that there is apparently a community of competitive-supporters that have never played CS:GO and are apparently flying to stadiums for a game they never played. In my opinion, TF2 isn't awful to watch, the person that started this discussion said the reason why TF2 comp is pointless is because *right now* only the people involved with it are hearing about it.
And that will change once the Pyro Update drops.
Either way, if we are really to roll with the first July week, which would already be late if you ask me, the Blog Post and Props should really drop this or LATEST next week.

...What about the Pyro Update will change this?
We might actually reach the point where the top blog post refers to something that happened a full year beforehand.
Btw what happened to the rebalancing thread and is someone going to make a new general chat since the last one filled up?

I reckon the Jungle update will release both the Valve map and the props together. A neat way to show them off, before the community uses them.
...What about the Pyro Update will change this?
I have hopes that the changes made to competitive + balancing the Update brings will make the official competitive mode good, which should cause a lot more people to be interested in it etc. given the fact it will be way more accessible.
I reckon the Jungle update will release both the Valve map and the props together. A neat way to show them off, before the community uses them.
...but the Props are supposed to be used in community maps added in said Jungle Update?
I reckon the Jungle update will release both the Valve map and the props together. A neat way to show them off, before the community uses them.
Do you mean that the creators can use it for later maps
I reckon the Jungle update will release both the Valve map and the props together. A neat way to show them off, before the community uses them.
that would make no sense tho since they're very unlikely to revisit the jungle theme for a major update, thus making the props pretty useless?
The mail from valve that has been displayed many times here on facepunch literally said "we dont know when the props will be finished" so community maps should be finished without them.

I know, never said otherwise. Just said that the idea of the Prop thing was that Map Creators were to use them.

I don't think that will happen.
I'm not really sure what you can do in order to revitalize the game in the public's perception. MYM was the closest you can get, I think, what with adding competitive matchmaking, but with one thing and another soon news sites and your average Youtube commenter/Redditor is fairly aware of the fact that somehow MYM was a "bad update" even if they have fixed the problems now.
As there was a small comic for introducing us to the Pyro vs. Heavy thing, do you guys think there will be a small comic this time?
I think the whole giving out the props and showing as the balance changes ahead of the update was scrapped.
Hopefully not the balance changes post at least as they were proposed as a "check these sick changes out before we make them official so you can complain about whatever changes we make just in case we make a big oopsie.".

tf2 never worked that way and there's no sign that will change
