Off topic, but since the general thread is dead and this thread basically has the second largest userbase I'll ask here:
Anyone know a good vanilla MvM server? All I can find is that 10vM and join-the-bots and increased money bullshit.
With vanilla do you mean stock mvm maps as well? If not, I recommend you to check our group http://steamcommunity.com/groups/potatomvmservers , where Hydrogen runs the mvm mapping contest, you will find here some group events (1-2/week), but you can also join the servers at anytime and have access to a wide selection of mvm maps, the servers allows up to 10 players, but only 6 can play, the 4 others will stay in spec, we also don't run money stuff increasing, or difficulty changer plugin, it's basically stock mvm but with custom mvm maps too.
This group is mostly about discovering new mvm maps, and helping mvm map makers/mission makers as well, but when we don't do that, the servers are open for random stock mvm games.
sigsegv's servers also exist and they have the same kinda stock-and-custom thing going on as Potato's has (http://sigpipe.info has some info about the two servers)
It's pretty interesting seeing everyone assume that everyone else is terrible at game balance and that Valve should only listen to the right people.
What if you're the one who doesn't know what you're talking about?
While I agree with your point you have to admit that generally Facepunch's TF2 community mostly consists of either actual contributors from the workshop, EXPERIENCED competitive or pub players, or other knowledgable people to a higher degree, than, for example, reddit. Now I'll get it out of the way - I don't like any sort of reddit vs facepunch flaming (which I'm aware has taken place) nor do I endorse community elitism, but objectively speaking, TF2's subreddit is mostly memes and memey posts, and there are few and far between posts with actual merit about the game's future. When there are some, the amount of salty N mains screaming it's not true is overwhelming. Facepunch's TF2 section however is arguably harder to reach and thus isn't available to the lowest common denominator, resulting in a somewhat higher discussion and game awareness level.
You made a valid point that community elitism is bad and you're right, there is no "perfect community" to listen to, but when it comes to that, a you have to admit that fp is one of the best ones out there.
Generally, rule of the thumb is: the easier to reach it is, the lower credibility it has, but it can't be too closed off either to ensure there's a healthy balance of fresh ideas and old standards.
That made my day.

Please remind me, it's been so long I can't remember...
Please remind me, it's been so long I can't remember...
iirc there was info that the next comic needed a few more months so everyone assumed the update will only come with it, and like the next day gun mettle was announced.

There was a minor update then Gun Mettle released only a few hours later

Do you mean this Update ?
Team Fortress 2 Update Released
July 1, 2015 - TF2 Team
An update to Team Fortress 2 has been released. The update will be applied automatically when you restart Team Fortress 2. The major changes include:
-Updated Mann Co. Store prices for foreign currencies to current USD equivalents
I was just alerted in game that item and matchmaking will be down for 10 minutes.
Thank you based Justin Taft
37 MB update. Maybe I'm just optimistic, but that seems kinda big for just a couple medals being added.
They could be very detailed medals.
37 MB update. Maybe I'm just optimistic, but that seems kinda big for just a couple medals being added.
That's actually true, but maybe the fixes are just larger.
The luckiest bet is to maybe find something in the Updates localization files, but I wouldnt count on it.
We should be more worried about VNN's emails.

There's nothing in there, sorry to disappoint you.
Capitalization changes in the Polish version, removing -s and spaces between joint words in other languages, and added missing descriptions for items. Also CRCs for the models and the models itself.
alright, well, while it might just look like another localization file update, this one actually has a hidden gem.
they finally added localization
in pirate
and it be a beautiful thing, mateys
"TF_Sniper_Robot_Hat_Desc" "Mates tell me a cap says things 'bout th' one who wears it. Tricornes? Power, leadership, an' th' ability t' down a bunch o' rum. Bandanas? Experienced, tough, an' can drink a bunch o' rum. This thing? Probably just says you drink a lot. Ye'd 'ave t' jus' t' wear this."
If there would be something intresting in the localization files, unless hidden there intentionally, it'd be found sooner on the Steam translation site.
Could you guys stop being euphoric, I'm starting to get euphoric too

So here's the big question: how do you use it? Because you're supposed to change your Steam language for that, right? But there's no pirate language on Steam.

Just throwing this out there, don't really believe it myself, but it might be an ARG.

if ARG = jungle map is on a pirate-themed island?
if not ARG, probably just Valve leaving in an easter egg for nosy people looking for secrets in their update files 👀
SFM being about pirates confirmed?
Jungle update scrapped for pirate update
Oh my God, guys. It's not an ARG.
It's an ARRG.

I think the Steam pirate translation is a test or a joke, if you look at the STS stats pirate is something that's not really actively worked on like real languages.
It's not nearly done enough to actually be usable and as far as I know there's no way for someone to actually use it.
