Yo... This is not a common Valve Server, normally when you try to join it will just launch TF2 and then say Ad-hoc aint allowed, however this one asks for a Password. This is an organized special Valve Server where they are doing, well, something, and the content creators got invited to it. So either they are doing something special like secret maptesting or whatever, or they are just playing - thundermountain. The thought of Valve Devs and Content Creators secretly meeting in a special, set up Valve Server just to play thundermountain amuses me.
that makes the people with source 2 names INCREDIBLY suspicious... like... hmm....
iirc snowplow was tested on a tf2maps server, being renamed to a random map name with all references to eotl removed, but the server was open to everyone (one time the map was literally called "totally not eotl") for the pyro/heavy argument, I'll have to agree with contra, the only advantage Pyro has over Heavy is detecting invisible spies, but for the spychecking part, Pyro needs to be in his range to spy check, a heavy that is not busy shooting enemies is a spy's worst nightmare in a competitive setting, also since we're talking about competitive, the instant someone suspects a spy's presence the whole team will be alerted, this isn't like a pub where everyone noticed you but you can still just kill the heavy on the cart and run away. in highlander, if the heavy isn't getting tunnelvisioned by enemies, there's almost nothing a spy can do in the area around him
Not even the TF2 Developers are safe from Source 2 memes (That Server has a lot of Valve Devs on it alongside of Content Creators for TF2 that have self mades and/or Saxxies - coincidence? 🤔 )
gotta wonder why they picked whoever's there though
are they all afk in spawn? they've been in the server for over an hour and barely got any points
Snowplow was community stuff though, this is actually setting up an official server as some sort of puppet.
are they all afk in spawn? they've been in the server for over an hour and barely got any points
fuckin valve friendlies man
gotta wonder why they picked whoever's there though
best overall saxxy winners are on a tour at valve iirc nothing out of the ordinary besides that
My statement was made purely with the purview of the Heavy player in mind, irrespective of a coordinated team's subsequent efforts to ward off or kill the Spy upon detection. This is important to keep cognizant of, since pub play will place greater responsibility on the individual to handle threats. Furthermore, the Dead Ringer was invoked precisely because in the competitive situation outlined above, a detected DR Spy will be far better prepared to react to the Heavy's potential demise than a detected Invisiwatch Spy that was tracked and killed. And since successful picks are a rarity in general (as far as I'm aware), it may behoove the Spy to continuously harass with the DR in tow rather than take the uphill battle of attempting a pick. A Heavy is going to be overall less effective against such a strategy than the Invisiwatch Spy, and in pubs particularly, it becomes a war of attrition the Heavy cannot win unless the Spy player errs. Eventually, the Heavy will be unable to repel the harassing DR Spy due to being occupied with one of the Spy's teammates, leaving himself open for an eventual stab. And if I may, what opinions expressed here diverge wildly from that of the competitive community? I'm fairly certain they're no more enamored with Scout's unlocks than we are.
We're working on a mandatory update for Team Fortress 2. The notes for the update are below. We should have the update ready soon. - John ------------------------------------------------------------ - Added Arms Race 3 community medals - Added FBTF Cup 6v6 Season 4 tournament medals - Fixed Competitive match history sometimes appearing as empty when connection to matchmaking servers is lost - Fixed a crash when exiting the client - Fixed teleporters teleporting players that respawn or change team during the teleport animation - This fixes an exploit possible when playing on some "instant respawn" community servers - Fixed the Neutron Star unusual effect being occasionally displaced after the player respawns - Fixed Rescue Ranger bolts healing disposable sentries in MvM - Fixed some text in the UI only displaying the first character on OS X and Linux - Updated localization files this will never be irrelevant jokes aside, glad they finally fixed that exploit
best overall saxxy winners are on a tour at valve iirc nothing out of the ordinary besides that
oh if thats the case then, uh, nothing exciting.
Who would have guessed..
Literally me. Contra wins again.
that makes the people with source 2 names INCREDIBLY suspicious... like... hmm....
Probably just memeing the devs. It's been said too many times that TF2 isnt going to Source 2 anytime soon, and I doubt they're going to surprise launch it in a few weeks.
are they all afk in spawn? they've been in the server for over an hour and barely got any points
Valid point, actually. Two other points worth considering, though: they could be testing multiple maps meant for the Jungle update, and the test on the one they're on now only started recently they may not always be playing, they could be looking around the map, trying to find ways to break it. when I was a part of the ATF server community, we would have sessions where we'd test and try to 'break' new community maps before putting them into the rotation. [editline]2nd June 2017[/editline]
Eventually, the Heavy will be unable to repel the harassing DR Spy due to being occupied with one of the Spy's teammates, leaving himself open for an eventual stab.
In HL, no. He has a team of eight other players who have repeatedly been alerted to the Spy's presence, and if they any semblance of skill, the Spy has been chased down and killed for his troubles already. The Heavy prevents the Spy from putting in his work and calls him out. If he doesn't deal the finishing blow, someone else will. He's still better than Pyro is at stopping the Spy from doing his job. I have no idea why you think otherwise. EDIT: one second, I misinterpreted your statement I was referring to competitive play. In pub play, yes, the Heavy and his team have much less power against the Spy in general, and the Heavy will not be able to protect anyone. He still still be more generally effective than the Pyro at countering Spy, though, and my argument still applies in competitive play.

in pubs, Pyro is usually the better counter, since there's atleast 4 spies in the enemy team all trying to mindlessly facestab you. however, every player is usually busy doing what they're doing, walking to the frontline, trying to take down the sentry, healing teammates etc, but when they're pushing the cart and you don't have that many teammates around, the heavy will be the first one to notice you, as mentioned before, if he's not shooting an enemy he will be spychecking everyone he sees, he is the biggest threat there.

Could be another case of internal testing, however I would ask if there was any way to check that the map named "thundermountain" is the same one we have. They could be testing the Jungle map, and just named the file thunder to hide it. Also, no, I have not received a response on the questions, and it seems they are very busy lately, so we might get the Source 2 and Asteroid answers after the updates release. I'll let ya know what happens. Edit: Just to prove my point Also, Burke - Andrew Burke - Animator Captain Chaos - Dario Casali - Mapper (Since HL1) KellyT - Kelly Thornton - Sound Engineer jasonb - Jason Brashill - Media Artist All on that server, either part of the ~15 Dave talked about back in Feb, or all participating in an internal playtest.
i don't think it's a secret that there's a playable version of the tf2 team's jungle map, given the timespan between when they announced jungle things, up to now. overall saxxy winners get to pretty much have a field day over at valve instead of your regular tour. the chances of them playing a jungle map are just hype points, and probably loads of fun for them. hype is good, but always be prepared for whatever it may be. big or small- knowing the tf2 team has been working on the jungle theme/update for a considerable amount of time gives me reason to smile. no matter the case- feeling the hot, summer sun beating down on us today while doing yard work earlier is bringing some nice summer update vibes back. whenever the jungle update happens, i'll be happy. jungle theme is a really nice one.
Jill posted something VAC ban wave Bunch of developers on same server hotfix on friday. im gonna get my hopes up for something to happen next week, and then if nothing going back to my usual self...
[sp]maybe this thundermountain is actually an artpassed cactus canyon[/sp]
This is not a common Valve Server
that was made obvious by the player limit set to 32
[sp]maybe this thundermountain is actually an artpassed cactus canyon[/sp] that was made obvious by the player limit set to 32
i may be mistaken but i believe the player limit is still 32 on the causal offical servers. I know thats weird but i remember looking on my friends game server having 32 even though it doesnt succeed 24. Idk maybe im wrong, but that's what i recall
... On the subject of servers....?
[sp]maybe this thundermountain is actually an artpassed cactus canyon[/sp] that was made obvious by the player limit set to 32
Ever since MyM all Valve TF2 servers have 32 player limits so they can host MVM games. There are no longer servers dedicated to just MVM, all Valve servers just go into a pool that the matchmaker can pick from so they have to support enough players to run MVM.
-Thanks-

more patch noted added
Players who leave a Casual or MvM match for any reason cannot be re-matched into the match in question for a few minutes Players who are vote-kicked from a Casual or MvM match cannot be re-matched into the match in question for several hours
Fucking Score, VNN is coming up in the world. From Dave, just now, he promised to answer the questions before the update, and gave the first question an answer; "#1 (from one of the artists that worked on the soundtrack): Valve did all the work (aside from the actual printing, pressing, etc). The soundscape is a bit of a tease for the new map but the images are just fun shots of the team in different situations from the regular game. Kinda behind the scenes stuff from the Administrator/Pauling’s files."

I WON'T HAVE TO KEEP MANUALLY BLACKLISTING THE MAP THAT SERVER IS PLAYING? HAPPY DAY
It was a Valve trip, that server was played locally hosted, and that wasn't thunder mountain. I have confirmation from two of the people on that server, Video incoming.
