[t]https://files.catbox.moe/d0vmo3.png[/t] Here are the results of the balancing survey, thanks again for anyone that gave their voice.
I would say the fact that no-one has actually played with these weapons makes this type of feedback pointless. Let the patch happen, see how the changes fit in with the overall game then provide feedback.
I liked the suggestion of a beta client to test out these changes. Maybe even allow users to directly edit the stats of a weapon to test out their own ideas? Though I don't know if the TF team would see it as something worth their time to implement.
...how do you know?
it's kinda hard to judge game balance outside of the game, even if you're very familiar with the current build of the game, especially when a lot of items get changed at once it's hard to contextualize the changes as they will appear along side all the other changes while i agree that you should be giving feedback, i would also agree with themooselord in saying that beyond an educated guess you can't really comment too much on how overpowered/weak something's gonna be before it's actually hit the live servers.
...how do you know?
There are many games out there that release their patchnotes ahead of time. Most of the time even professional players get it entirely wrong.
I would say the fact that no-one has actually played with these weapons makes this type of feedback pointless. Let the patch happen, see how the changes fit in with the overall game then provide feedback.
Jill beta branch pls thx <3
There are many games out there that release their patchnotes ahead of time.
So you are basically trying to say that releasing this pre-update blogpost was worthless because "most of the feedback will be wrong either way" Dont really agree with that.
well when they asked for feedback i thought it'd more more along the lines of "i don't think this item needed to be changed" or "great, this other item really needed to be changed!", saying "this item is possibly gonna be more overpowered" or "this might be too complicated" seems kind of impossible to tell with just text on a screen it happens a lot in league of legends and other large games that post patch notes early, pro players come out and say "wow this change is gonna suck and be too weak!" and the changes are actually op and everyones making memes about how strong the change is and they have to emergency hotfix it out, other pros come and say "whoa this other change is gonna be too strong wtf you broke this hero" and the hero turns out to be less powerful than before basically you can give feedback on the direction theyre taking with the actual changes, but the changes themselves are pretty difficult to pass judgement on until you've actually played them
I just realized, It might be a bad idea for valve to ask for feedback through the "Contact us" section on the Tf2 site, considering it's probably going to mostly be kids saying "fuk u valve don't nerf my main"

Honestly I feel like Valve thinks that disguising is vastly more useful than it really is. Unfortunately, the truth is that cloak is much more important and so people will never give up cloak for better disguising, so the YER will not work even after the rebalance.

I don't really care for the combination of loss of the entire meter when non kill disguising and 50% increased uberdrain rate though...
This might be a long shot, but with the city field one, the silhouette of the one running almost looks like Pyro
[t]http://i.imgur.com/BmT9KMz.png[/t] Do you believe in magic? [editline]22nd June 2017[/editline] also note the lack of an upper right arm

You think anything else will happen this week?

All I want for the YER is to be able to disguise as the foe you just killed whenever you want.
All I want for the YER is to be able to disguise as the foe you just killed whenever you want.
Like with the.. disguise kit?
Pretty sure they expect that and are mentally prepared, they'll need to filter that feedback anyway Also i wouldn't be surprised if they have some basic filters that automatically delete messages with certain words
Most likely stuff like "plz, nerf, fuck, fuk, volvo, ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)"
You think anything else will happen this week?
Probably not. The only thing I could see them doing is another balance change blogpost but I doubt that. They probably want to wait for the income of feedback to stagnate before and then analyze the feedback before releasing the update. My guess is the update itself will either come Thursday, June 29th, Tuesday, July 4 or Thursday July 6th.
I personally hope that they don't change any of these (especially Amby), besides maybe YER which I agree probably won't do very well (we'll have to wait and see though)
I'd like if they reduce the cloak penalty on YER a little bit. You're already giving up a whole cloak meter just to disguise. Amby could be handled a little better. I think it'd be a better idea to just make headshots past a certain range just do mini crit damage.
So here's the question I kinda want to see your guy's answers to: What class' mains will whine enough to get the changes reverted? (like whenever. It could be the week afterward, christmas or whenever) I'm betting on the Scout mains.
I'm a scout main and I welcome these changes
[t]https://files.catbox.moe/d0vmo3.png[/t] Here are the results of the balancing survey, thanks again for anyone that gave their voice.
I'll love to see the Bison with the piercing back again. I'm still a bit pissed off that valve took out the 0.5 more charge for the Claymore, which made the weapon unique.
I love my Bison just because its so satisfying to fire into a bottleneck and score a few assists, but I'd be lying if I didn't think it needed a major buff. It definitely has a place as a secondary in the Soldier's arsenal, but it needs to do its job better.
Honestly I feel like Valve thinks that disguising is vastly more useful than it really is. Unfortunately, the truth is that cloak is much more important and so people will never give up cloak for better disguising, so the YER will not work even after the rebalance.
Honestly, I feel like maybe they should've tried balancing it in the other direction. Maybe instead of loosening the restrictions on disguises at the expense of cloak, they could have kept the disguises as they were, but given the YER a buff that synchronizes with the whole "silent killer" playstyle that it's built around. Maybe a cloak-related buff, like a tweaked version of the old silent decloak set bonus? (changed so it doesn't make the DR totally silent any more, of course) I'm imagining a playstyle where you can potentially be really stealthy by utilizing the silent decloaks and silent backstabs together, but you're also totally reliant on not being seen because you can't disguise at will. You could even give it a new downside to try and emphasize that, like losing your disguise when you cloak, or a health penalty or something.
On the point of vita-saw, you have to remember that on pubs, 4 ubersaw hits gives you an entire full new uber to use, which you likely won't die before using because it's a pub. That's generally a lot better than saving 60% on death, when you also have to build it up in the first place. And of course it's going to be very hard to build up that many organs, esp since you need to get up close and risk dying to use it. I think the real niche for the new vita-saw is not for running at enemies agressively to get organs as a risk-reward thing, I think it's for when you're being bombed or flanked or nearly stabbed, there's an enemy near you, you're already probably going to die anyway, and you want to save some of your uber. This creates a situation where, if you outplay the attacking enemy, you can save some of your uber even when you're outgunned. This sounds like it would make for a fun playstyle where you can actually do something about those attacking enemies that you can't kill as medic, without turning the medic into a killing machine.
