Since the razorback can now regenerate every 30 seconds, I think the caber should regenerate as well. That would compensate for how nerfed into oblivion it was.
Agreed. I miss the good old days when using the Caber and OG Sticky Jumper to make enemy Snipers super angry and salty.
I think from your team's perspective the DR drops a spy corpse wearing a mask, while for the enemy team it drops the body of whichever teammate you're disguised as.
punchy definitely has a point in his video that if the TF team has so many writers and artists, why did they stop giving items descriptions? I loved item descriptions back when they were a thing.

Theres no way it takes that much effort to slap a balloonicorn texture onto a rocket launcher.

I think the only thing left to turn the Hype train to maximum speed is for a patch to add some hints towards the Major Update or the emails today.
Valve no garish hats for Pyro Update pls?
The problem with that is taste in hats is entirely subjective. Hell I still see people giving the Conquistador shit, and it's unironically one of my favorite hats in the game. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", after all.
if YER made it so you dont flicker while colliding with players when cloaked and increased cloak duration, you'd actually be able to get in and use the damn thing I'd scrap the new design and just make it buff cloak duration and remove flicker. paired with the l'etranger you suddenly have a really powerful combo that makes sense since it's a fucking item set
This is actually the best buff I can see for the YER.
I'm going to be on vacation for two weeks so if the update doesn't come out during that time I will lose my shit.
This is actually the best buff I can see for the YER.
no the best buff was +25 hp on the old YER. there's enough items messing with cloak already. no-flicker no-sound is just annoying material.
I'm no expert on TF2's mechanics (despite all the hours I've sunk into it), but I feel like Spy needs a buff or revamp of some kind, especially if they want to make TF2 a thing in the eSports scene. The fact of the matter is, the game's been around for 10~ years. That's basically a decade of people learning the ins and outs of how each class works. One of the first things you learn to do as a new player is Spy-Check; there's no friendly fire, so there's literally no reason to not just shoot everyone you see, just on the off-chance they're a Spy. If you see a teammate lagging behind with their primary out? Spy. Teammate not taunting or using voice chat? Spy. Hell, teammate where you didn't see a teammate 30 seconds ago? Might be a Spy, may as well shoot them to be safe. You can have a class that's high risk/high reward, but a decade of people getting used to his tricks means that there are plenty of other classes who can do Spy's job (scoring picks, dealing with Engies, etc.) in a way that's a lot safer/more conducive to team play.
One thing I always imagined would be team-based and fun, but impractical to implement, while totally fitting Spy's utility without overlapping other classes is to allow him to bug locations with cameras and place a hologram-based or CRT screen somewhere that shows all the cameras at once like a surveillance system that teammates could see just by standing in the vicinity. His main job in comp is to both get main picks while everyone is distracted (difficult) and to relay locations of enemies by hiding in concealed areas or while invisible (can be more valuable), and this makes the latter a lot more feasible for both users with no mic and for individuals that are having trouble getting in close, but still able to break enemy ranks. Of course, I'm not sure which slot that'd even make sense to be on aside from sapper potentially, but just a concept. As a spy main, I am unsure if his current kit would be easy to mesh with an eSports mindset of balance without making it asinine in pubs, and feel that he'd need a few new playstyle tools to actually be satisfactory as an improvement in both pubs and comp without destabilizing the other.
I'd be happy with the new YER if they reduce the either just remove the cloak drain, or reduce it to like 25% or something
This video by Punchy is GOOD. Also exactly what we discussed here a few months ago. But I will say it again: Valve no garish hats for Pyro Update pls?
I just find that in terms of hats, Tf2 is sloooowly getting more complex and flashy in terms of what they're adding with hats. For example, a hat like the Crocodile Slouch was completely fine back in the day, but nowadays we've recently got hats like the Snowmann which obviously aren't related at all in terms of theme or even class, but I highly doubt we'll get hats like this or this just because they're not enough going on with the hats compared to most of the hats that have been released in the past year or so. Also, I'm not trying to pick on any contributor in particular, I just used these hats for examples.

I can't find it within myself to quibble over minutiae when a phenomenal balance patch answering for almost a decade of irksome gameplay flaws--you know, the actual meat and potatoes of the experience--is on the verge of release.
You're asking why they need writers to do the writing?
No just pointing out that its surprising that a team with so many dedicated artists and writers doesn't put out that much art or writing. Just seems like too many people considering all tf2 puts out in terms of story and art is 1 comic, 2 update pages, and 1 map a year. The blog posts dont even come with images anymore and smissmass and scream fortress didnt even have update pages.
How bad would it be if a spies passive was to hear the enemy teams voice chat while disguised? It could at least give him some edge while in competitive.
How bad would it be if a spies passive was to hear the enemy teams voice chat while disguised? It could at least give him some edge while in competitive.
really bad considering everyone uses discord teamspeak or mumble anyway
How bad would it be if a spies passive was to hear the enemy teams voice chat while disguised? It could at least give him some edge while in competitive.
TeamSpeak, Discord and similar programs would make it useless with players that don't use the in-game chat.
what if you'd have a weapon that would allow the spy to use voice chat as the person you are disguised as - means that you'd have to try your best to imitate the voice of the disguise so people can't go "wait my medic girlfriend doesnt sound like that"

While mostly good none of these changes completely change how any class plays. The only thing that comes close is the mantread buff and lets be honest, its just a trolldier buff because noones going to trade being able to constantly rocket jump, buff your entire team, or the reliability of a shotgun for some knockback resistance and air control unless you are being trolldier
How bad would it be if a spies passive was to hear the enemy teams voice chat while disguised? It could at least give him some edge while in competitive.
CoD 4 had a perk which did exactly that and it was complete useless garbage nobody used
CoD 4 had a perk which did exactly that and it was complete useless garbage nobody used
Of course, who would want to hear the 14 year olds on the enemy team when your team already has plenty of them?
I would be incredibly surprised if the balance patch actually touches the places where balancing is actually needed (w+m1, huntsman, sticky launcher) and doesn't just skirt around them as usual. Then again. they did change the DDS so maybe it's a little bit possible.

My only problem with the stickies is that Quickiebomb is vastly superior, and Scottish Resistance needs a buff
(w+m1)
What's the problem here exactly?

I'm not terribly optimistic, but is there any hope of the update bringing changes to casual? Things like the lack of scrambling + ad-hoc connections has ruined its quality a fair amount in my eyes, though I'm not sure if that's asking for too much, even if the update is supposed to be fairly large.
