ive talked to him about it, he just wanted to change it because his past name was kinda lame to him afaik
Once you've made a name for yourself, it's really hard to get people to see you as anyone other than that name. Especially if it's a name you've used in a very public eye. Yeah, a fresh start can work in cases, but it's more challenging to do when so many people have mentally linked your name and your work together.
[sp]I've been using this name for 13 years for that exact reason.[/sp]
Nothing wrong with sticking with a lame name, it has a history attached to it and as an adult you can look back and laugh at its less-than-charming origin. At least it wasn't something overly edgy or something like that, but I can't fault him for wanting to have a name that's not a common English word.
Those sounds the classes make when taking fall damage in 2007 sound nothing like the classes voices.
Glad they removed that.
Also I blame dx8 for a few of these lighting/prop features. I miss being able to see my pipebombs.
How did dx8 change the lighting? Dx8 isn't an option any more, right?

incredible that the drowning ones survived for so long
Or he just felt like changing his name because it's Steam and everybody changes their name sooner or later.
I disagree my friend

I FUCKING KNEW THE NEEDLE GUN WAS CLEAR.

this video only shows even more why tf2 needs some sort of "spring cleaning" update that just goes out and attempts to fix most if not all the visual/ingame bugs, and maybe while they're at it, try to unravel some of the games infamous 'spaghetti code'.
medigun, not needlegun
Im so sorry ^^ you are right

I wish that there was a way to play OG TF2 without getting stuck in a PS3 hell.

Well, there's 1.0.0.5 but nobody's playing it.
I prefer the original Minigun view model by an order of magnitude. I kind of hate the new one, which is a shame, as now we have all these gee whiz reskins and unusual weapon effects.
Minor bit of pedantry. "Elo" is not an acronym, it's a system named after the dude who invented it.

I went through a dozen names between 2012 and 2015-ish, it's more about finding something you identify with
Blades I know you've been playing this game for a long time, so I gotta say I'm pretty disappointed with you on this. You gotta start thinking and speaking for yourself and stop repeating talking points from people who are otherwise ignorant or uninformed.
Off the top of my head, every update with a major balance change for the past few years:
Love and War (Summer 2014)
Christmas 2014
Gun Mettle (Summer 2015)
Tough Break (Winter 2015)
Meet Your Match (Summer 2016)
There's about six months between each. Jungle/Pyro is thus far breaking the trend by being about a year since MyM.
I have no earthly clue where this "two years on average" figure comes from. The typical length of time that passes between our major updates was...about six months, even in the years preceding 2014, and balance changes/new additions were much more regular in that time.
No, Contra, we may have gotten balance changes as often as this indeed, but with little concern has been paid to the quality of these changes by the team making them- until now with the blog post beta changes.
Perhaps I should have included "reasonable" before the word changes and you'd be right about that, but I'd certainly count the length of time a rebalance has been botched by valve, and then finally fixed later as "development time", which in many cases (the Natascha, reserve shooter, phlog, etc) have been unaddressed or poorly handled for a considerable length of time, even surpassing the two year mark.
I would say it takes that long for the average rebalance to be gotten right, rather than actually occur.
Until now, supposedly. I mean I totally want to be wrong about this with the pyro update, and have valve break the cycle of:
-See underused weapon --> Buff it to brokenness and have it banned by competitive --> ponder on mistake in blog post of the next major update.
There are still weapons undergoing this process (the diamondback, soda popper, etc.) And sometimes the third step is omitted entirely.
Well there goes my theory of the update releasing a week from the blogpost, it would've released yesterday.
That figure was Zenomite's average estimate in his latest video, and also in how long it takes valve (but not always) to fix the botched rebalances of updates past.
And how did he come to that conclusion? Also, fixing bad rebalances shouldn't be factored at all when discussing how long it takes for rebalances themselves to release.
Well, there's 1.0.0.5 but nobody's playing it.
1.0.0.9*, and thank you for informing me about this.
EDIT: Nvm, TF2 2007 has security exploits apparently. TF2 Classic seems to be the safest bet for now.
I really miss the old lighting, it was more cartoony and looked better.
[editline]28th June 2017[/editline]
I knew it wasn't just me back in even 2010 the game looked a lot more crisp
Speaking of visual inconsistencies, here's one that's bugged me since 2010:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/98n27XC.jpg[/t]
The RED scout's belt loop is the same color as his baseball pants that in turn are colored in a similar scheme to the other classes pants.
[T]http://i.imgur.com/Ol4WquP.jpg[/T]
The BLU scout has blue belt loops but the pants are the same as the RED scout, dark khaki.
It seems at some point the BLU scout was going to have blue pants to further make his distinguishable from the RED scout, this can even be seen on the Scout icon under the chalk board and above the player model in the class selection page
[T]http://i.imgur.com/NGF8bdT.jpg[/T]
Wait, I think he used to have blue pants. How haven't I noticed that?
I wish RED players had brown eyes, and BLU players had blue eyes.
It'd be neat but I almost never get close enough to see any characters' eyes
Sorry to be off topic, but do you think theres any chance of a blog post tonight? Thursdays are (sometimes) update days right? Blog post the day before an update happens

Technically speculating about a future update is on topic, so it's not a problem.
Anyways, I wouldn't hold your breath. It seems most of us have come to the consensus that it'll be next week when we hear anything about the update again, unless we get a follow-up to the balance blog post this week.

I don't really think a follow up is needed. Most of these changes have been overwhelmingly accepted by the community. I think we'll either get a new batch of changes or an update.

Wow... I had almost forgotten about the fall damage voice and CP_Well/CTF_Well feels a LOT different.
Some of these changes... I wish they had never made, even if unintentional... I prefer a vast majority of the weapon appearances from 2007 over the latest. Although I'm sure optimizations had a lot to do with what they've done thus far.
Its funny how so much can change right your under nose. One update at a time.

If it does happen it'd probably be in the next hour.
(estimation based on the time that the balance blog post itself released around this time 8 days ago)
The current minigun and flamethrower could pass as a lower LOD model for the old ones. Great video, never noticed these.
Wait, I think he used to have blue pants. How haven't I noticed that?
i am 100% certain he had blue pants at some point too. i'm pretty sure this changed when they added leg bodygroups.
