If they can make his flamethrower more reliable and less rng if it hits or not it'd be a huge step forward in that department. Nothings more irritating then to see you flaming down a medic or enemy, the fire is clearly going through the enemy your attacking yet not a single flame particle registers as a hit. You don't hear any hitsound at all.
Then they can take that dumb stun mechanic off airblast that was implemented shortly after pyro getting access to the reserve shooter ( was made to get rid of ground stalling people for free crits ).
Which made combo's with the flaregun and reserve shooter a joke to get since it kills all momentum of the enemy player and often just pops them straight up in the air.
If only an update nerves air last by allowing you to strafe out of it...
I think I would rather all the effort for an update went into stopping hacks. Sueing cheat makers like Blizzard does would be good. Playing cat and mouse is not great, but with enough work, most mice grow tired. You don't have to stop all hackers, just do enough to annoy them and gain faith of your player base.
That being said, it is not like I won't enjoy the update and spend $$$.
I hope the pyro part of the update focuses more on fixing his existing mechanics than adding many new ones. Right now I feel like pyro gameplay-wise sort of doesn't fit in because he is a class of paradoxes. He can be skillful to play, but he can also require non whatsoever. She is bad at distance fighting and even midrange fighting, but yet her close range damage is weaker than many other classes. Afterburn is a really strong mechanic, but there's so many counters to it that it isn't. Finally and most importantly, zero weapons make airblasting easier or incentivize it in any way beyond the +20 health, which is on every flamethrower. Instead, all of them make it harder, even though airblasting is the only way pyro is even viable anymore.
New weapons won't change that unless they become 100% of every Pyro's loadout post-update, which is not ideal. The only way is to change most if not all things about the way the class plays, and add some weapons which help complement these changes but don't overshadow them.
With the latest events the theory that it'll launch 19/6 (the original Pyro Update) seems more and more likely, however for that to happen we'll need to get the blog post probably next week.
I don't get why they'd bother honoring the anniversary of a previous update release date when 1. rushing updates to fit deadlines just results in worse updates and 2. Valve generally don't give two rat's asses about anniversaries, if that press interview with Driller is any indication.
It's like TF2's birthday blogposts being late for the last few years; if they remembered TF2 existed, they'd be working on updates for it, not writing blogposts about it's birthday.
I hope Valve adds ctf_sawmill, ctf_well and cp_5gorge back into casual mode for the pyro update. Also, it would be nice to have the normal versions of koth_maple_ridge, koth_moonshine, pl_fifthcurve and pl_millstone added officially, instead of halloween-only. It would be easy content for them to add that most players would enjoy seeing.

As far as I know Valve only bought the Halloween versions of those maps (I'm not sure if they outright bought them or paid a percentage of key sales since there was no Halloween Campaign pass to buy the maps like Gun Mettle or Tough Break. Valve did outright buy the maps in Meet Your Match according to the guy who made Swiftwater) so I wouldn't expect to suddenly just see the normal versions added, though I could see them eventually adding them in campaigns.
I do think that ctf_sawmill, ctf_well and cp_5gorge should be in the casual rotation even though I don't enjoy any of those maps. Heck I really dislike arena but I wouldn't mind seeing it be an alternate game mode, maybe limit it to 8v8 since arena has always worked better with smaller player counts.
I think Valve has had this problem for years regarding ignoring large part on which things matters people and what those same people care about and what happens around valve and their games themselves. They do listen and read what we type, but we rarely see any reaction from them to it. I think Valve in general cares about "after marketing", people stick with them but they dont share enough information outside. That is kind of chosen desicion from their part - it keeps people interested but also disappointed as equally. We strive more information.

Except it would just mean we're playing reskins of maps we've already played in the space of 3 actually new community maps.
And to be frank, I don't particularly like any of those three maps. There are much more deserving picks that should get into the game first.

To say it in short, each map is it's own artwork/creation. Per agreement, you give them the map, all files associated with it and they include it in the game. This doesn't mean that the other versions of that map get to be in the game, ever. That being said, i would be happy to see regular versions of my 2 halloween maps in the game, like in some "community map update" or paired in the next "rainy day cosmetic bundle" or something. The other of those maps has clearly risen up in common knowledge too since that is being played in UGC highlander league for the 2nd time on season 22. If it's about money to them for not adding those, i'd give them for free to them to add in for everyone to play on, since this game has given so much joy to me already over the years. But i think it's just not in their plans to do even consider adding them.

Actually halloween versions are the reskins you are talking about. They might be largely different from the halloween version you have seen. These maps have existed way longer in regular versions but rarely people have seen them before getting official. Also, per past experience, a lot of people haven't even played or heard of the halloween maps. They didn't make me "famous" on servers where i play and i dont care about that but it's funny to see from the side when someone with self-made item is on the server, people go gather around him just to watch and take screenshots.

Who said it would take place of new maps? Valve could add the 7 existing maps + 3 new ones + jungle map, it would be amazing.
Also they aren't reskins. 2Fort invasion is a reskin. These are separate gamemodes. For the halloween maps, we haven't played their normal versions in Casual yet anyway, so them being reskins doesn't matter. (see: sunshine)

I still find it disapointing we didn't get a couple of community maps, some balance changes and new contracts during the last Christmas update.
And don't get yourself down about Valve not making 5Curve or Millstone official yet, Valve hasn't made any of the regular versions of the Halloween community maps official and I doubt they would decide against it just because they have the Halloween versions in the game.

In case you forgot, Sunshine was added to the game in SF 2015 update under the name Sinshine and only after that in MyM as Sunshine
EDIT: I kinda don't know what i tried to argue with by this reply now, i read your post again and apparently i misunderstood you

You're totally right I forgot about Sinshine.
You're totally right I forgot about Sinshine.
That proves how boring and meaningless last 2 SFs were compared to previous...

Quite frankly i haven't even expected the regular versions go official, it would be just neato if they did as both have been worked and improved for years before halloween versions were made of. So anyway, i have 3 maps in the works so i'm not done with making maps just quite yet.

remember when people dropped a shitstorm over the spreadsheet's owner for altering the prices to his benefits?
those who forget history are bound to repeat it.

While I kind of agree with your point, I doubt they they'll risk their reputation - exactly what geel said on reddit - short term perks of doing that don't outweigh a long term relation with the economy.
//EDIT: Yes, I realised the mistake.

This would make sense if we were modifying prices for our own benefit.
This might be pure coincidence, but did Valve up the Hat Drop rate?
I'm seeing more and more pop up, even today I saw 3.

Yeah, last night someone was giving gifts away on a server and like the 5th gift was a saxton and a hat of cards so who knows.
Man I had a hype dream last night. Thought a teaser for the update was out when I woke up this morning.
I promised not to let myself get hyped again. I failed. :'(
Nice to hear the update is very nearly upon us, hope everything works out for both the community and the tf2 team

Today is Sunday.
Go back to your flapjacks, Frenchman.
it was a dream, I can't help it if it doesn't make any sense
I realized my mistake after like 30 seconds of being awake, but for those first 30 seconds I was like "man, I can't wait to see the TF Blog!"
This would make sense if we were modifying prices for our own benefit.
So geel have you had any accusations from R/TF2 of you wanting to destroy the economy yet?
Australium Scatterguns for one cent each anyone? Let's devalue all of Scout's items so he becomes the cheap harlot of the team.

they can benefit much more keeping their reputation, user base and every new player being recommended to check them out
This would make sense if we were modifying prices for our own benefit.
neither were the people behind the spreadsheet. until they did.
The teamwork.tf twitter (https://twitter.com/TF2teamwork) posted a weird scramble of letters and numbers
803b2960d978be42bd1e2a619f59787509d0ad582bb0b3ab0e8f1d9ca6c943cd to be exact
and followed that post with a post about how no one will use teamwork.tf after playing the new update.
Truthfully, I don't know what teamwork.tf is, and/or who runs it, so if anyone could fill me in? Was it possibly someone on the Valve trip?
