Not playing for a long time increases your chance of a hat drop. - Games

How do I look up my backpack? I forgot.

I did not use steam for 59 days. I came back on TF2 after that long break and got...Less than 8 weapons. All crap.

I'm not TRYING to fuel this silly idea, but I just started TF2 up and played a few maps in arena... My first drop was a heavy-duty-rag. :science: I think we're just making our own luck with this nonsense. (First 3 hours in 2 weeks)

I idle every 2 weeks rather than every week now. I have 3 accounts (long story, had em before Mann co update) and every 2 weeks I idle on them. The first time I did it every 2 weeks, I got THREE hats total. The last time I did it, I got nothing but weapons. I still think its totally random, but idling every 2 weeks (2 weeks is the max, go over and you're only getting 2 weeks worth of items no matter what), and getting 20 items per account rather than 10 increases your chance of getting a hat in one idling session, but still, I still think its 100% random, because I idled on 3 accounts that hadn't idled in weeks, and got nothing but weapons. Not even tools.

I did a test like this over the summer. I didn't play TF2 for about a month, and got 3 hats over one idling night.

Also I know I don't have solid evidence, its just anecdotal. But its a little food for thought. Try it sometime, you may just come back to a bunch of hats.

Didn't touch my alt account for months. Idled for the first time in a long time, I found both a Respectless Rubberglove and a Sombrero in one night-time idle session. I was like holy shit.

Yeah, I think for the most part, it is random, but not playing for a while increases the chances, because my friend hadn't played tf2 for a good 2 weeks, and I urged him to play tf2. First drop he got? Rubber glove for pyro.
