he should have an acoustic guitar to use as a melee weapon, like the one in the Meet the Engineer Video.
yeah that would be totally wacky. epic lulz
the engineer is a support class. not an offensive one. learn to read guys.
the engineer is a support class. not an offensive one. learn to read guys.
He's defensive area denial class.
the engineer is a support class. not an offensive one. learn to read guys.
Just like the demoman is defense, right? Those roles are general, and are there to give you an idea of what is normally done with the class. If we always stuck to the uses intended, back in the quake days, rocketjumping would never have developed. Battle engies are perfectly viable defenders. Famous example of this. And on offense, they can deny the defenders as well, if done right.

I wish i took a video of my badwater shenanigans. i had the highest score on my team as an engineer, and we were on offense.
I agree, the Engineer could use more specialized offensive stuff. I'm betting that his arsenal remains the same, Wrench, Shotgun, and Pistol, but he gets different versions of the Sentry, Dispenser, or Teleporter. What I'm thinking is, instead of 1 level 3 sentry, you could have 2 or 3 separate level 1 sentries, and as a dispenser replacement you get a backpack that functions as a level 1 dispenser. Everyone knows that 1 level 3 sentry is more effective for defense than 3 level 1 sentries, but having 3 smartly placed level 1 sentries would be much more effective on offense. Also, a level 3 dispenser is better for tanking on defense, but a backpack would be better for offense as he can more actively support troops on the field with ammo and health. Think of the Engie as a mobile cart that teammates can rally around. This is better as it can insert the Engie into direct combat.

Really, the shotgun is not as useful as the pistol if you plan on being an offensive engineer, as its short range and spread will likely do less damage than a few well placed pistol shots.
oh no the vagineer video is made by OH no K-lash aka Gay-lash
oh no the vagineer video is made by OH no K-lash aka Gay-lash
What
the "gungineer" video. i know this guy. he is the di*k of all di*ks
I bet valve adds a normal looking wrench that can upgrade faster but only to level 2 and the whole thread rages :v:
the "gungineer" video. i know this guy. he is the di*k of all di*ks
The dick of dicks? Or the di asterisk of ks?
If Valve don't makes a new build.. i swear to god..

[editline]08:17AM[/editline]
I bet valve adds a normal looking wrench that can upgrade faster but only to level 2 and the whole thread rages :v:
i wouldn't mind that at all. there is really no new sentry design worth using. valve isn't going to make a sentry that shoots flames or grenades or something stupid. although the idea of a different offensive sentry is interesting. at level 1 it would be slightly more powerful than the normal sentry (perhaps 2 barrels instead of 1), and at level 2 it would be like a normal level 2 sentry but with only one spinning barrel. There would be no level 3.
They should have a gun, shotgun or singleshotwinchestery style (gun brands don't exist in tf2, its all MANN co) it shoots faster, but is pretty weak. the upside is that if you keep shooting your barrel gets hot, and you can burn invisible spies by prodding them away from your sentry. [editline]08:50AM[/editline] that sounded biased, all classes would be burned. I just used spy as an example.
It was in the competitive beta and it got leaked and stuff.
But none of the other stuff from the competitive beta has been released (I REALLY want the GRU)... yet? I don't really care about the Spy fireproof suit though, that seems kind of lame.
I woundn't mind a dispencer backpack that works like the medgun but gives out ammo instead of healing.
what about a robot? that would be awsome

I maed an idea. Ever had some mean muther hubber tryin' tah edge around your sentry, 'n' shoot 'er where the poor lass can't fire back? Ever snuck behind such a person, tah shoot 'em in the buttocks, 'n' make em clear off? Ever had 'em turn right round, 'n' shoot yall right in the face? Well the Magnet-O-Rifle will solve all yer problems! This baby utilises the very iron in the bloodstream of your foes to accelerate your foe in the direction of your choosin'. When you fire the primary positive polarity rounds, it pushes away your opponent a fair distance, just like that darn scouts Force-A-Nature. Y'see, the polarity of a person is generally positive, which results in our pellets repelling them as they arrive. Unfortunately, this works against our own pellets, since they get slowed down, so they aren't as effective. The net effect is that they go flyin'! Perfect for knockin' em into say, a pit, or your sentry's firin' arc! The negative rounds on the other hand, pull your foe towards you, this is fairly risky, for a variety of reasons. It doesn't pull them nearly as far as the positive rounds push them, since the pellets push them forward when they hit, but the magnetic forces pull them back, the net effect is that they still go towards you a fair bit, but they won't travel nearly as far as the positive rounds. Because of that, it's best to be gettin' behind those dog-gone son's of guns, and push em forward, rather than pullin' em in, since due to the complexity of the pellets design, they don't go as fast, resultin' in less damage, a lot less damage! So you have to use your environment, or yer sentry gun. Unfortunately, the uber-charge's special properties (which I am not at liberty to share here) will disrupt your pellets, and make them completely useless, even for knockin' 'em back! The Magnet-O-Rifle Level 10 Shotgun +100% pellets Primary fire knocks targets back a fair distance Secondary fire pulls targets towards you, with much less force -75% damage (of normal shotgun) No effect on ubers

mass tele
As everyone assumes, I don't think we will be able to upgrade our sentries.

A Buff Banner thing that make you crit, when you stand still? But that's against the idea of updates. Maybe a machine pistol instead of shotgun. It has to be more offensive.

Why do people want anti-spy weapons?! We already have an anti-spy weapon, its called every class being paranoid cock mongrels that check everyone near them with their weapons. More popularly known as "spy checking."

New weapons should focus on benefiting the Engy class in itself rather than spy paranoia. Besides the spy's ass buddy spot was already taken >
