I actually think story is really important for a fighting game unless it's a marvel vs capcom style crossover. I want to know why I'm fighting, who the fuck I'm fighting, why I'm fighting them and not someone else, and why they're fighting me, ect.
Blazblue for one had an amazing story and it's sad to see that missing from other fighting games.
i'd rather they concentrate on things that actually matter (ie the actual game) than some awful story mode that you'll forget exists 2 weeks later (aka every fighting game ever made)
and that's what they did so cool!

The gameplay is already refined from four previous titles and the characters are 'supposedly' unbalanced even with multiplayer focus instead of singleplayer focus. Considering it's literally a reverse-recession of story slowly drying up as the games progressed, I think this is something beyond merely focusing on gameplay.

Imagine a fighting game with 100 fighters, but you have no idea who they are besides their name. I'm not saying that they need story modes, but rather, STORIES.
I need to at least know why I'm beating up a 60 year old man in nothing but a mask and codpeice.
i honestly couldn't care less
if i wanted some epic story i'd go read a book
i just want to beat people up with swords
I think I'll pick this up after work. I'm used to dark souls, so I know dodging, timing, etc.
The 360 scene isn't dead, right? I don't want to buy it if no one will ever be online
It's alive fair and well.
Okey doke. Got my hands on the game. Xiba looks pretty fun too, actually.
I'm guessing if I just do story mode it'll teach me what I'm doing?
I've been watching gameplay videos and in gravitating towards Pyrrha. Is pyrrha omega playable? Which one is better?
Pyrrha plays like Cassandra, Omega plays like Sophita. AKA pretty similar other then a few key moves. Play both until you find out who you like better.
I have never played a soul caliber game, so i have no idea what you're saying.
all i know is ivy has boobs and voldo's weird
I tried playing Soul Calibur 4 multiplayer once.
It was a learning experience.
I tried playing it once.
It was empty.

Well in that case: Kilik (now Xiba) is an annoying faggot, Raphael holds the collective hate of every Astaroth player on the planet, Tira is still underpowered, and Mitisurugi will shit all over you.
Once you start playing you will know what I mean.
Also ezio has a very spammable grapple.
His grapple isn't even a problem, it's that damn crossbow.
what the fuck
combos make no sense, i'm not told about what does what, i can't figure out if i need to use the analog stick or the dpad, the game expects me to hit x+y+b at the same time
fuck you game. >:( i will best you.
just use the right trigger. :>
just use the right trigger. :>
oh. that makes that a tad easier.
now explain to me how i'm supposed to confidently 236 without fucking it up.
Eh? 236? I don't know anything called that. Also I'm assuming you are in the training mode right?
Eh? 236? I don't know anything called that. Also I'm assuming you are in the training mode right?
Correct.
Sorry, was using the nomenclature of gamefaqs. :<

236 = down, downright, right

...this is going to take a LONG time to learn.
I will master Pyrrha, though. >:( I will.
Dude, you'll 236 in your sleep after like....two days.
3 characters who switch weapons between rounds.
day 1 dlc character.
why did they do this?
Dude, you'll 236 in your sleep after like....two days.
I'm working on it. It's hard. My fingers keep messing it up or doing like 236(7/8/9) and then I mess up the combo.
This is just different than games I play. This is the first fighting game I've ever owned.
3 characters who switch weapons between rounds.

Elysium uses only female move sets, Kilik uses only male move sets, and Edge Master uses every move set. They did this by fan request.
Also Zinayzen I sent you a message, did you get it?
Yeah, although it didn't help much. I just need to practice. A LOT.
I'm just mashing buttons in story mode.
I think I may be best with Natsu, problem is I don't want to join the hoards of Natsu and Mitsurugi players.
Why me.
Ordered this last week should be here any day. I remember playing Cervantes a whole bunch in the fourth because all his special moves were cool as shit.
Oh man, I played the shit out of Soul Caliber 2 on the gamecube.
I clocked about 100 hours on Soul Calibur 2 on my PS2.
1. What is SC5?
A fighting game like Street Fighter and Mortal Combat, also doubles as a boob physics simulator
Sounds like Dead or Alive to me :v:
What do those REALLY small combo icons mean? I believe Pyrrha has one that looks something like right right A.A, and I have no idea what the . means.

natsu what the fuck
Probably Guard Breaker, ranged and Unblockable markers
