[QUOTE=demonguard;24928885]are you a newbie living in lowsec? if so thats awesome and ballsy[/QUOTE]
Can't tell if that's sarcasm or not, but at the moment I'm parked in Rens, and I've earned what little amount of crap I have from can flipping in 0.2-0.3, plus I've applied for a nullsec PvP corp, awaiting response.
[editline]10:24AM[/editline]
Ahahaha, 2 guys I know from reddit just helped me right the fuck out. 1 day of play and I have 5.5 million ISK
no that was not sarcasm
also if youre a reddit you should join Dreddit, they chill with the goons in deklein
A bunch of redditors tricked me into a spoof corp and ransomed my ship :smithicide:
Yea, reddit is a double-edged sword, heh
[editline]10:45AM[/editline]
And yes, planning to join Dreddit :D

The funny thing is, my current corp (CCRES) is blue with dreddit.
I went to join CCRES to get the money I lost from my ransom back (they didn't honor it :frown: )
Dreddit helped me lose most of my liquid ISK, and in doing so helped me gained it all and more back.
Pretty weird.
Just pulled off some mad stealth bomber action on a huge Provibloc fleet trying to kill off PL SBUs.
~ 13 kills and like 15m in loot, the only thing keeping me from getting more being running out of bombs.
Needs more killmails.
[QUOTE=scout1;24929114]Yes, you can be successful at this game without killing shit, but that's some of the funnest stuff, so be prepared to spill a little blood. Don't do pirating though, you'll get trapped in low-sec with no way to raise your standings. Perhaps later.[/QUOTE]
I don't intend to do it anytime soon, considering I don't have that much money lol.
Are Spec-Ops ships any good? The idea of being able to stealth around sounds good for avoiding aggressive players.
In EVE there's Covert Ops, Recon Ships and Black Ops. Not Spec Ops.
Covert Ops are frigates. These are your scanning vessels and stealth bombers. Recon ships are cruiser sized vessels. Black Ops are battleship sized.
All have different unique features.
[editline]09:42PM[/editline]
In most cases you'll find that having raw damage taking ability and firepower is better than simply hiding from aggressive players.
[editline]09:42PM[/editline]
Cloaks don't work when they lock you.
Sorry, I knew it was some kind of Ops. And ya, thanks for the info. I'm just trying to find the best ship to get, once I get enough money for an upgrade. Sorry for the bombardment of questions.

Best Path is usually Frig > Dessy > Cruiser > (Maybe) Battlecruiser
And [I]all the neccesary support skills to 3/4.[/I]
For general new players.

Covert Ops are the easiest to get into, maybe 2 weeks of training. Recons are the same general idea but larger. Basically EWar platforms in cruiser form, often able to cloak. Black ops are the biggest fruit-loops of them all. They're battleships that can cloak and equip jump portal generators that are able to jump (teleport) other cloaky ships through system to system, without using gates (It's a Trap! Moments). Black ops are usually expensive 400m+, and incredibly skill intensive to use to their full capability.
But honestly these ship classes are some of the least useful for new players.
I've been playing since Thursday. I'm getting into Mining/Manufacturing because I'm not very confident in my combat skills.
Besides joining a corporation, what else can I do for good money? AFK Mining Veldspar in 0.9 sec may be safe, but it's not all that exciting.
Lol, one of my friends who recently started playing around the same time as me is thinking about quitting cause he lost a cruiser to someone in hi-sec.

Define necessary? Right now I'm getting the frigate skill up so I can use the Merlin. I have gunnery and a few others up quite a bit. Trying to keep the skill que full.

I hope you both started this week
Nope, I've been playing a little under a month and he's been playing about 3 weeks.

Playing caldari I assume? Use missiles. You'll get dick all for good ships in the gun caldari line.
[editline]12:19AM[/editline]
Missiles mean you want a kestrel.

I have the missile skill, ya. Condor has two missile launchers loaded. Right now I'm heading back to the academy to get the Merlin, as I can't seem to finish this mission with the Condor. Getting ripped apart by the NPCs.
And what is a kestrel? Frigate?
Yes, the kestrel is a [url=http://eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Caldari_ships]caldari[/url] frigate. It's primarily a missile boat, and good for L1s, and should breeze through your tutorial missions if fitted correctly.

Don't worry about the questions. I like answering them.
Support skills constitute as skills that increase your tanking capability, damage capability, energy management capabilities, etc...
I suggest the Merlin as a first time combat vessel. The Kestrel is a good choice, too, but getting your feet wet with turrets isn't a bad idea.
New people... don't mine! It's insanely boring and offers very little reward. Highsec based industry is just a timesink, you won't enjoy it unless you're crazy and it doesn't make you much money. Even if you want it for the mostly-afk factor (so you can play while working), mission running in something like a Dominix will get you more money overall.
Or you can be like me and semi-afk sanctums at 5 am, only to have your 1 billion isk Golem get torched by the Germans.
I am flying around highsec in a hull tanked orca stealing ore from people mining in battlecruisers.
This is the epitome of eve comedy.
[editline]05:57AM[/editline]
if youre mining in a ferox what goes through your mind when a fucking orca steals all of your worthless scordite

Cool. I'll look into the cost.

Thanks. The training just finished for the Merlin actually, and I'm using it now. Judging by the amount of slots and the capacitor size, this thing seems quite powerful. And I got it for free, which is cool. Right now I'm using two ion blasters, two rocket launchers, shield booster, afterburners, civilian damage kit, and armor repair.

Ok I see a problems with that.
Do not mix tanks. Don't ask why, just don't
Caldari are shield tankers so drop the armor repair module.

More importantly don't mine in an industrial as so many new people seem to do.

Why am I mining in a Ferox?
[img]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/220354/Other%20Game%20Screenshots/EVE/orelol.JPG[/img]
you would think in the 5 minutes it takes my orca to slowboat across their belt they would do something besides continue mining
They could at least throw down some drones.
the guy in the ferox had some mixed medium/heavy combat drones and just recalled and warped away when I stole his stuff :iiam:
Even if you do have a crappy mix of drones you can still try or in the time it takes you to get away in that orca do a quick refit.
