The only thing I pretty much did ever since I got my assault ship or whatever it was (I think it was? I last played sometime in 2009, but I might renew my subscription) and did missions. I'm not much of a PVP player, hopefully not missing out on too much fun.

They're updating it with incursion , the next expansion if you've been living under a rock, to make it less click-festy.
They're adding a new structure called a master extractor ,I think, and it controls all your extractors, so you don't have to click, scan, select a deposit, and do this for all your extractors. You only have to do that once using the master extractor.
They're also making it so that you can upgrade your command center so you don't have to destroy everything, relink, and reroute everything.
Money wise, I've calculated I can make up to 2 billion a month with PI.
This is Command Center Upgrades 5, Interplanetary Consolidation 5, and 9 levels in planetology, however.
