It wasn't wasted. Eventually you're going to be glad you have a freighter because when you need to haul exurbanite amounts of garbage from one station to the next all in one go you'll want a freighter.
I think the problem here is that you bought a freighter to assist a single guy high-sec mine :ohdear:
Besides, people get Orca's for mining aid. Hence why it's called a capital industrial ship.
Yeah, I just feel stupid about wasting nearly a month of training for it when it's for the most part useless right now.
What since when was I pirate?!
Since you were going to "pirate your friend's asshole".

Back in Ye Olden Days, I trained a character for an Orca, with the intentions of leaving him AFK strip mining for hours on end.

Well the plan was that my friend would be the miner and I'd gather all the ore so we wouldn't have to jump back and forth to drop loads at the station. I'll probably just go back to piloting my Iteron for now.

How the hell did you afford that freighter any how.
Too much isk, not enough common sense.

Selling PLEXes mostly. And I don't really think it's a common-sense thing since I've never seen it mentioned anywhere that freighters couldn't pick stuff up in space. I could have asked here or something but the thought never crossed my mind since I kinda assumed all ships could pick things up from space. (I also assumed all ships could jettison items as well...)
Still, basic observation of asteroid belts being mined out by fleets can tell you that you never ever see a freighter in the belt with them. You only see an Orca with some industrial ships for hauling support.

See this is your problem. Too much isk. Convo me up on steam boy, I'll be able to help you with all your questions.

That is the purpose of an Orca.
I'm new. I only have a frigate, I can't do anything other than mining :(
If you still want to help me out, send me a PM :unsmith:
Train for a destroyer (any race will do), get salvaging skills (survey, salvaging, and armor rigging) and follow an L4 runner. If you see me on (Sani Venner is the character I use in Facepunch Chat, though it's not my mission runner), I can show you the ways of the L4. As an added bonus, I run missions in a Golem, so I can actually tractor the wrecks in from 40km and make an easy to salvage wreckball.

10:20 PM - Muffy: So you go to Lonetrek and find that it's just as good as the Forge, a few days later it crashes.
10:21 PM - Onyx: So far I haven't left my starting region. But I know two people who are members of larger alliances near Jita. So I at least can travel between those two.
10:21 PM - Onyx: I can mine but I'm really specialized in anything about it yet.
10:21 PM - Onyx: *not reall...
10:21 PM - Onyx: really... Dammit.
10:21 PM - My name is Legion: best ship you can fly?
10:22 PM - Onyx: For mining? That would most likely be an Iteron V.
10:22 PM - Muffy: oh god
10:22 PM - Muffy: NO

Ahh there is much to teach this one...
Indy mining is only good if you're AFK'ing, and too lazy/ don't have anyone to haul
I can't decide what to put in my skill implant slots. I went through the listing page and picked out all the ones I'm considering, but for some of them I can't narrow it down.
Slot 6
Sharpshooter ZMU - Cruise Damage
Gypsy KMB - Total CPU
Squire PG - Total Powergrid
Slot 7
Sharpshooter ZML - Missile Velocity
Gnome KVA - Shield Capacity
Slot 8
Sharpshooter ZMA - Guided Explosion Radius
Squire CC - Total Capacitor
Slot 9
Sharpshooter ZMS - Explosion Velocity
Gnome KYA - Shield Recharge
Slot 10
Sharpshooter ZMM - Missile Rate of Fire
Here's what I've gotten so far. I want to max out shield/missiles.
It looks like you need some instant recall implants because that was posted a few pages back. Might want to buff your memory attributes.
I know, but no one responded.
Well, while low-sec ratting I met a very unfriendly little man in a Daredevil. He tried to gank me and did a somewhat respectable amount of damage to my drake's shields. But I guess he didn't expect me to have a complement of light assault missile launchers on my drake!
Sadly he MWDed away from me before I could take out his hull. Even more terrible is the fact that my ISP seems to have not gotten the cheque for my month's internet.
I just noticed MightyMax hasn't been posting in the thread. Checked why, he got banned for 7 days for suggesting warez :v:
Aw, that's too bad.
Also, since we're closing in on it, remember the next thread's title: "[EVE Online] Don't kill rocks, kill Rokhs!"

Well, anyone want to lend me 500,000 quid for a Destroyer?

I wonder if I'd make more money from Level 4 missions on average than Class 2 sleeper sites since the salvage of nanoribbons is so random.

do c4, sleeper battleships drop 3-5 ribbons each.

Because C4 is possible solo..

The guy who asked what the "best ship" he could fly is an idiot too
