I am currently making my first character, is there any difference in skills, that I should know before choosing race etc. ?
The only skill difference you have will be what racial frigate you can fly and what turrets you can fit to start with, attributes are all the same. Since you can cross train any race's ships you want, just go with whatever race you think looks best.
Baiting ceptors off gates is fun.

Fixed
Because with Hardeners I lost HP/S, and with HP/S I lost Resistance, and I always found The Resistance gained was less noticeable than having more HP/S ... When getting absolutely swarmed I lasted longer having more HP/S (150 and there about)
I tried earlier with hardeners, nearly identical fit to the other Drake fit posted, and I took a lot less damage, but was also regenerating shields at half the pace, so the change was equal basically, only with less recharge for any third or fourth damage type I'm not fitted for. Two Invulnerability Fields means losing some resistance all around and an unstable Cap though, unless I move around a whole lot of shit and am willing to go way down on HP/S. And if I'm going to do that I might as well just go 85% Resists on 2 damage types instead of 55-70 on all 4
had to go back mid-mission for more missiles there
What rigs do you have fitted? You need to have Core Defence Field Purgers fitted, not Core Defence Field Extenders. And you should have at least two Shield Power Relay modules, T2 or best named T1.

Purgers, shield power relays, and power diagnostic systems boost your shield regen rate.

Yeah I got Purgers for Rigs
Seriously? CNavy BCS On a drake?
I don't actually use them, I was just wanting to see the effects of them if I had them fitted. The top fit is the fit I use against Guristas and Serpentis rats.
Seriously? CNavy BCS On a drake?
Why not? Without them, fitting an all tech II tank requires an implant and they're not expensive. I wouldn't use them for pvp, but on a mission ship they're fine.
I think getting the implant would be a lot less costly than buying two CN BCS's.
It's not like they're permanently fitted to your ship. If you move on from the Drake to something like a Golem or Raven Navy Issue, you can put them to use.
I'm not a fan of using fitting implants or rigs because of how you're limiting yourself to a particular fitting, if you want to change something down the line, you end up with a wasted rig/implant.

You can have multiple clones with different implants for different fits.
You can have multiple ships with different rigs for different fits.
Implants and rigs are WAY too useful to be written off so quickly.

Wait a minute now, I said "fitting implants and rigs," in other words: rigs and implants that increase your cpu/powergrid. I dislike using them for the simple reason that I don't want to have multiple versions of the same ship, it's a little too inefficient for me.
Jump clones, again, are very inefficient for PVE purposes (that's what I'm talking about here, PVE, PVP changes things quite a bit). You'd need multiple attribute implants or you'd lose a lot of time in skill training between your jumps.
Using faction fittings over fitting rigs and implants is much cheaper than having multiple versions of the same ship fitted in different ways or multiple jump clones with different implants.

Jesus, that guy's retarded. No wonder he managed to get scammed.
I'm just wondering why you'd spend 160m on a drake when you could use that isk to forward a better, bigger mission runner. Maybe one that does more than 300 dps.

I got them from the LP store, they're much cheaper that way. I have a setup where I use 2 ships for missions, the Drake as the tank (and BC/cruiser killer) and a faction/deadspace fit Raven Navy Issue for DPS.
Did my first L4 today. Feels good.
I tried it a few months ago, played a bit and got bored. Tried it again last week really excited to try it again and just got bored again. From all I've heard it's fantastic but I can't get past the learning curve... any tips?
No matter how bored you get, just stay with it. Playing with friends helps ALOT, even if just to have someone to talk to when mining.
that's the only reason I lasted so long the first time around, actually knew someone who was playing it

Join a corp. It makes the early game much more tolerable.

It's also very useful if they've been playing for longer than you. On the first few missions in the military career advancement tutorial, a friend from university gave me a hand in his Catalyst, and pretty much did the combat for me. Later on, after a brief conversation with a guy I play TF2 with, I found I had a Vexor (the very ship I've been aiming for) gifted to me without even asking. Damned trial restrictions prevented me from accepting the contract, but still.
