Its not so much the value as the laughs people will get from podding a newbie.
If you're in player-controlled nullsec, the assumption will be that you're a spy alt.
I don't laugh when I pod a newbie. I laugh when I kill and pod a veteran, because that means I either did something amazing, or he fucked up badly enough.

I think it is funnier popping newbies personally.
I'm really enjoying this game.
I played the demo a long time ago and found it incredibly confusing. Quite off-putting really.
It's not confusing when you've got people to tell you what to do to make the game easier to play.
I fucking hate downtime, I almost found a gravimetric site with Jaspet and Hemborwhatever in 0.7, was at 92.6% and downtime begun...
So, I have some questions about this planet interaction stuff, I was told that once you set up some stuff on a planet then it would constantly make money for you without you having to do anything, is this true? And if I build something on a planet, can some other guy destroy my stuff, or do all the planet bases just peacefully coexist?

Yes, it constantly makes money for you. Unless you set up a t4 supply chain in nullsec, you won't make much money from it at all.
No, other people can't destroy your stuff. Yet.
I finally got myself a Caracal, and went to fly around in 0.4 sec space, just killing some Guristas (I'm an ultra-noob :v:), and some guy showed up in the middle of a fight with a particularly difficult type of Gurista, and killed me :(
Facepunch Corp? DREDDIT KICKS YOUR ASS, AND THEN KEEPS KICKING YOUR ASS, AND THEN DOESN'T STOP KICKING YOUR ASS, AND IS REALLY REDUNDANT BECAUSE ALL IT DOES IS KICK YOUR ASS!

You set up buildings on the planet that harvest and refine materials, however in order to make any money off of it you have to actually fly to the planet to pick up your goods so that you can sell them. At present you can't destroy or damage the planetary facilities of other players. I'm not sure if that is going to change before the release of Dust 514 or not.
Where is Facepunch Corp on the map?
lol

They need to make PI more valuable for Dust to work. Right now there's really no reason to hire mercs to attack a planet, there are too many better ways to make money in this game. Especially if you're in a sov holding alliance, an hour of running sanctums can give you more isk than a week or more of PI.
I don't know what they could change exactly, since just giving planets more resources would saturate the market and make the stuff worth even less than it is. Maybe introduce a new function for planets besides resource extraction/processing. Something like needing ground forces to control all of the planets in a system to claim sov could be pretty awesome in theory... or it might destroy the game, I don't know. At least it would give Dust a reason for existing.

I did that too a few weeks ago except with Serpentis.
Got myself a generic Badger/Cormorant combo set up for mining a little in Malkalen V - Asteroid Belt 1.
Had enough of rats for now.
Malkalen V - Belt 1 you say?
I'll be there ASAP :buddy:
I don't think Cormorants count :v:

protip: do not reveal your location on fp, especially if you're a miner.
It could be a decoy.
Hey Bulaba, it would be nice if you would fix access to the eve player directory linked on the front page.
I second that notion.
I am in denver now, all I have access to is choppy wifi on my iPod touch. I'll try to get to the hotel computers but there are always some old fags masturbating to excel spreadsheets.
I also need to make sure I can get people to have view access but not edit access. (hurf durf I switched everyones names hurr)
I no longer have view access, so that may be an issue. We also need some way to overwrite our submissions, I'm listed as a miner for some reason.

I don't think it's a secret that people like mining in 0.9 space :P

0.9? 1.0 is better. There are no rats so I can use mah lovely mining drones!
Just kidding, I usually go on wormhole mining ops with my corporation.
