CCP better implement a "Set All" for PI soon. Fueling my POS can be a pain in the ass.
never going to happen, or if it does PI mat prices drop alot.
never going to happen, or if it does PI mat prices drop alot.
I use PI to make T2 components, so getting them easier would be just fine with me.
My first thought would be elaborate trap. [editline]07:09AM[/editline] Like, this one time I went into a wormhole and for the shits and giggles, put something in Local. Afterwards, I was private convo'd by someone telling me that I could go about farming their resources with impunity. I got the fuck out of there. I know you aren't supposed to say stuff in Local while in wormholes, but I had no intentions of staying longer than a minute.
I never understoood why you should not speak in local in a wormhole. If you are smart enough, you still will not be found, and pirates who are serious about pirating can still track you down, regardless of your speaking.
Anyone doing any missions I can salvage.

If these people are already hellbent on killing me, they will already know that I am here. You will not get far in piracy if you wait for your mark to tell you where they are before striking.

Most just camp trade hubs and hope someone does something stupid to give them a big payday.
If these people are already hellbent on killing me, they will already know that I am here. You will not get far in piracy if you wait for your mark to tell you where they are before striking.
It's more, "Oh hey there's a guy in here, we should kill him before he can find where our POS is" It's pretty easy to sneak around a wormhole, I remember one time where we didn't realize that there was someone else in the hole until their probes started showing up on directional.
A corpmate wrote a post detailing two days of WH shenanigans, which include a carrier kill and the theft of the stuff I talked about on the last page.
TL;DR - long story about how we ransomed a WH POS with 3 BCs and two frigates, then killed a Tengu, Chimera, and support, destroying around 3b of stuff and collecting a bit over 1b in loot and ransoms. The next day, we found an abandoned POS in a third WH, destroyed the anchored mods, and collected ~4b in loot. Doog tiems; apologies if this isn't really an appropriate forum for such writeups. I spent an hour or so yesterday scanning for wormholes in and around Hevrice. Found an unoccupied C3 pulsar in Hev with 5 internal wormholes, 3 of which looked to contain attractive (but inactive) targets; also found a couple of holes in Jovainnon, one of which contained a POS with a Chimera and assorted other ships floating inside the shields. I revisited the holes every so often over the next few hours, and on my final visit, was surprised to see that the previously-vacant C3 in Hev had sprouted a TS medium tower with no mods anchored save for a CHA. Started yelling on vent while tracking down the POS' location; we deduced that the owners came from one of the wormholes connected to the C3, but for some reason, were moving their goods in via Hev. Itsme promptly anchored a bubble on the wormhole's Hev entrance and 5 minutes later, a Prorator jumped into Hev and thence into the wormhole. The bubble and Laronz0's Jag unnerved the transport pilot, who jumped back into Hev and met a quick end. Oh snap, got your POS guns. At this point, Rob entered into negotiations with the transport pilot, saying that in return for 1b ISK, we would refrain from killing his tower and everything he had in the system. After some bartering, he said he'd be willing to pay 500m, but that he didn't have that much ISK and would have to ask his CEO. The CEO was not so willing to pay and called our bluff, leaving us at a bit of an impasse. We assembled a MIGHTY POS DESTRUCTION TEAM consisting of two canes, a Brutix, a bomber, and a Jag, and set to shooting the POS while trying to get everyone on vent with a POS-bashing BS to get themselves into the WH ASAP. Since the POS had only recently been anchored, its shields were only slightly above half; once we started shooting, the POS' owner became somewhat agitated and made a new offer: would we accept a Providence, currently selling for ~650m in Jita, in lieu of the 500m ISK? Why yes, yes we would. We were half expecting a scam of some kind, but it proved to be the real deal: one honest to goodness, undamaged freighter in a highsec system a couple of jumps away. After a comedy interlude in which it turned out that some of our directors don't know how to set other corps blue, the POS guys were given 24 hours' grace to set up in their new home and we went back to Hev, having ransomed a POS with three BCs (one of which was a blaster Brutix that couldn't even hit the tower) and two frigs. While we were trying to figure out whether we knew anyone that could actually fly a Providence, I went back to the wormholes in the next system over to see if their inhabitants had logged in. There was a Tengu and an Onyx running a site in the system with the possed Chimera, and so we started forming up to kill them. Unfortunately, they seemed to have been spooked when my alt's cheetah jumped into the WH, as they returned to their POS before I had the chance to get a warpin. Furthermore, the wormhole was approaching the end of its life; by my calculations, it had no more than an hour remaining. The targets spent some time running between the site and their POS, while I faffed around trying (and failing) to find a good off-scan probe-launching spot. While this was going on, two more of their members logged in, and their Chimera took to the field. I probed it, but must have got it while it was still in warp, as there was nothing in space at the bookmarked site. At this point, Itsme jumped into the hole and, making no effort at concealment, dropped probes right on the entry WH. Shortly thereafter, the targets warped back to their site, this time with a Myrm, Onyx, Tengu, and Chimera; he got a warpin without further ado, leaving me wondering why on earth I'd spent so long faffing about trying (and failing) to be super sneaky. Rob's Arazu jumped into the hole, warped to the plex, pointed the carrier, and started taking a horrible beating from their missiles and drones; some Scimitar heroics from Commoner kept him up while the rest of our fleet (4 canes, Don Pellegrino in a Loki, Dotard's Broadsword, rax, jag, rifter) landed, bubbled the targets, and set to work. The myrm melted quickly, but between his shield boosting and the carrier's reps (which were enhanced by the wormhole's Cataclysmic Variable effect: +55% to all remote repping), the Tengu proved a somewhat tougher nut to crack. However, he too soon started bleeding into armor and then structure, and finally popped, leaving only the Onyx and Chimera. The Onyx was quickly despatched, leaving the carrier alone to our tender mercies. These proved to be tender in the extreme: with only six BCs and cruisers, backed up with a few medium neuts, we couldn't get his shields much below 80%. Furthermore, our exit WH was looking really dicey by this point, and we didn't fancy the prospect of being stranded far from home. However... for a carrier kill, sacrifices can be made. Those who had battleships handy jumped out of the hole to reship, and Itsme's alt made a supply run to fetch ammo and cap boosters for those who were out; in the meantime, the guys left in the hole kept the carrier pointed and focused on popping drones. Once we were fully resupplied and had acquired some more serious neuting power in the form of Rob's Domi and Sulei's Apoc, we resumed our assault. The Chimera's cap gave way, and we slowly chewed through his buffer. Awww yeah. Looted up, then jumped back through the WH and went back to Hev; the hole collapsed just over one minute after the last of our fleet had left, leaving my covops alt inside to probe his way back home. 20 jumps later, he too was safely ensconced in his home station; I was so wired that I didn't get to sleep for another hour afterwards. Props to Itsme for some nice FC'ing over the course of a lengthy engagement, and to Rob(?) and Don for taking over FC duties while Itsme was doing his resupply run. The next day, I went a-probing in and around Hev again. I found quite a number of wormholes, but had RL stuff to deal with (curse you, gainful employment) and had to leave them be for several hours. When I returned, some had collapsed, but there was one in Hev that looked interesting - another C3 pulsar that was approaching the end of its life, but had a POS on scan. On closer inspection, the POS proved to be well-equipped but offline, with several CHAs, an SMA, an XLSAA, and a couple of labs anchored. A brief discussion on vent established that we had nowhere near the firepower needed to kill the tower, even with its shields down, but that we could perhaps pop the mods. We didn't know whether their contents would drop if they were popped while the tower was still anchored, but decided to give it a go anyway. The first two arrays were smashed in short order, but nothing dropped, and I was starting to feel pessimistic about the op. Then we cracked a third array, and a Rorqual dropped out; the next pooped out a Golem (which proved to be faction/deadspace fit and T2 rigged) and assorted other ships, mostly T2. All told, the various POS mods dropped 4-5b in loot and ships; several round trips were required to get it all back to Hev. Vim from Spiritus Draconis was roped in to help us move the Golem (which went very smoothly, despite some initial trust issues) and the Rorq, which went rather less smoothly. Vim's alt needed to train the Capital Industrial Ships skill to I in order to fly it, but didn't have the skillbook, which costs 450m. We agreed to pay him for the book from the proceeds of our haul, so he went off to buy and train it, and we all sat around for an hour, waiting for it to finish training. With that done, we got everyone bar Vim and my probing alt out of the hole. Vim then tried to take the Rorq out, only to be told that its mass was too great and that it could not jump. D'oh! While I had verified that the hole's total mass allowance (2b kilos) was sufficient to get the Rorq (mass of 1.2b kilos) out, I hadn't noticed that the hole had an additional limit that only 300m kilos could be jumped through at any one time. With no way to get the Rorq out, we decided that the only way to recover some of the cost of the skillbook would be to self-destruct it and hope that the default insurance payout would cover it. As it turned out, it almost did: Vim reported a 400m-ish payout. Minus one Rorq, Vim and I exited the wormhole; I left a can anchored near the POS, explaining what had happened. So yeah. Wormholes. They can be pretty good. That said, I think I'm done with them for a little while; it's been ages since my last proper solo kill, so I think it's time for me to go off on some long Rifter roams and see what I can see.
-epic story-
What the fuck, a Tarkin-esque post and it's not from me.
I wish i had the skills you guys had at this game. I may own my corp, but the biggest ship i have is a Thorax.
That's great Sam, good laugh.
want to do some scamming and scheming but i'm literally at the edge of nullsec
I <3 Sam's brand of Piracy.
I wish i had the skills you guys had at this game. I may own my corp, but the biggest ship i have is a Thorax.
Size isn't everything.
Size isn't everything.
this is especially funny cause the thorax is quite phallic.
Now that you mention it.... the thorax does look like a big wang. So, a girl player, flying a massive wang. [editline]11:07PM[/editline] so.... anyone want to meet up and teach me how to survive in low sec? I don't have a mic though.

As for exploring wormholes, just fit on a tech 2 active cloak, a probe launcher and a weapon, use the med slot for salvager/codebreaker and go explore low sec systems.Find a wormhole/ladar site/hidden asteroid belt and bookmark it, come back with required equipment. Done ON another note, why is a Facepunch corp a bad idea?
this is especially funny cause the thorax is quite phallic.
I know. [editline]06:38PM[/editline] Also, an FP corp is a bad idea because of how diverse everyone is. It just wouldn't work.

Scan with something that offers scan probe bonuses, such as a Heron or Magnate. Fit it with an Improved Cloaking Device II and various other equipment (salvager, codebreaker, analyzer, etc...). And maybe even slap some Small Gravity Capacitor I rigs on. And keep an eye on your directional scanner and local. They will be your lifeline.
I love minmatar ships. they are soooo steampunk-ish. I'm loving this Rifter, even though it is probably a sucky ship to someone else.
I like minmatar ships because they are heaps of scrap with winggy bits strapped on. The higher up ones are pretty sleek though.

how do i do that? Im sorry for being a noob. [editline]12:26AM[/editline] wait... i think i got it. It just says 'FACEPUNCH' in the chat box. 'EVE System > Channel MOTD: Facepunch. MrWigger is everyone's stupid bitch, treat him that way. -- Love, Steak' Is that right?
Facepunch Chat, search that and you should find yourself in a channel full of people.
there is only one other guy though. [editline]12:40AM[/editline] nvm found you.
Caldari and Minmatar ships are the sexiest. Amarr has a few good ones, but pretty much all the Gallente ships look awful.
