probably battlefield 2, i freaking loved it.
Have you played the first STALKER? You could play that and then play through it again with the Oblivion Lost mod.
Why not go out and see Seattle? It's a sweet as hell city. If you must game get lots of roguelikes :v
Why does your dad travel a lot? Dwarf Fortress is a GREAT time waster, but not to begin with. If you're strong willed, then you will jump over the first hurdle and realise how awesome it is. If not, you'll get annoyed and rage quit, then go back to it some other time. Why don't you watch TV? I'm sure the hotel has satellite. A really awesome game would have to be Rainbow Six Vegas 2, it's so fucking awesome. I tend to OCD it and just do every mission like a proper elite soldier. I play it like a pro and always take cover and just do stupid stuff like that :p It would last a good 3 days until you got bored, or 5 days if you played for like 2-3 hours a day. Elona is an awesome Roguelike, a bit annoying at first but once you level up and get awesome stuff, it becomes more fun. IVAN too, is MUCH more enjoyable. Decapitating enemies is fun as fuck. Like others said, CoD4 and 5 is the way to go. Campaign on them is so fun. Stronghold 2 is AN AWESOME RTS game, it had me hooked for a good 4-5 days, playing all day, only breaking to eat and watch some TV / go out with my cousin. The depth of gameplay is so awesome, and all the chain buildings are so good. Watching your hops / beer production flourish is fun, and designing all those castles rocks! Also, watching as a shower of arrows descend upon your enemies is awesome to watch too :D So get that! Other than that, enjoy the trip.
I already have the orange box of course >.< [editline]10:24PM[/editline] I was also thinking about getting Crysis. Is it good, or just overrated?
Overrated as hell. It isn't bad but it isn't good either. If you like RTS-games then you should try something like Supreme Commander or something easier; Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars and Red-Alert 2 which is way much better than Red-Alert 3, Warcraft 3 and some Anno games. For FPS I would recommend S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Fallout 3 (FPS-RPG), Call of Duty 4 and World at War (Despite it's WWII again), UT3 which is very underrated in my opinion, Deus Ex, Max Payne, L4D, Team Fortress 2 ofcourse and maybe Battlefield: Heroes (Free and enjoyable game!). Also try some of the Hitman series. And for some all round hack 'n slash games you could try Overlord, it can get a bit repetitive but the humour in the game makes it all right. Though this game can ask quite some juice of your laptop eventhough it's graphics aren't that great. Bioshock can also be fun, but very easy and beatable in about 9+ hours on hard if it isn't less.
Are there any zombie games you can think of? For some reason, despite a lot of other people thinking it sucked, I thought left 4 dead was one of the fucking greatest games I've ever played and I still find time to play it quite frequently. It just never gets old to me for some reason, even though there's only a few weapons, and limited levels... I've beat COD4 btw. And got to my 3rd prestige on multilayer before getting tired of the 12 year old online community. But the single player gameplay was a lot of fun.
There are a lot of finished and unfinished custom campaigns for L4D so that could add more. A lot of zombie mods for source and GMOD... Not sure about others. I heard Killing Floor is good.
Forgot to mention, if you have internet then this is an option: There are a good bunch of flash games that are good time wasters. Just hop on www.kongregate.com or www.armorgames.com. They have decent games that can last an hour or two.

However, for the week that I have to see him every year, he makes it his business trips, because he thinks that I might like him more if we're out and about or some shit...??? I don't know. I don't like the guy. But that's not the point...! I've heard that Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is really good, but I've never really played it. Never even heard of Stronghold 2 or Elona, and have no idea what a roguelike is.

They are VERY gratifying to play because each time you play you should get better at it. See below post for a pretty much dictionary description
The roguelike is a sub-genre of role-playing video games, characterized by randomization for replayability, permanent death, and turn-based movement. Many early roguelikes featured ASCII graphics. Games are typically dungeon crawls, with many monsters, items, and environmental features. Computer roguelikes usually employ the majority of the keyboard to facilitate interaction with items and the environment. The name of the genre comes from the 1980 game Rogue.
Roguelikes are normally RPGs that take place in randomly generated dungeons with randomly generated items. They are normally quite in depth and most have perma-death (aka you die, you die. New character time.)
