• What's the worst Mod you've ever played?

Gentlemen, I have a second mod I hate now. LADDER I'm not sure if it's a beta or a different project though, because the same guy who made it posted some downright Gorgeous images made from Hammer. Anyways, to it's bare bones, it's a Survival Map, and pretty much 9 out of 10 survival maps are horrible. First off, while most Survival Maps are in a simple layout, Ladder is a whole godddamn town full of curves and streets making it hard to maneuver. In addition to that, the lighting and water is horrible. The sky is at dusk but the lighting says daytime (Though it's probably fullbright) and the water... Oh my god, the water. It's completely black, meaning water was just slapped onto the map with no proper editing! The waves suck aswell. Waves 1 and 2 consist of only one enemy each, and Wave 5, which consist of zombies, just stay in their spot inside the buildings. The building detail sucks aswell, as it's just a few physics props laying around and just that. I gave up when wave 6 came because I couldnt find the goddamn Poison Zombie. The only good thing about it? I like how the buildings are destructible.
Most of the Smod mods. Especially the ones that try to be "realistic", where getting shot once covers your screen in strawberry jelly and getting three times kills you.
You're aware that all the code changes, including the BLOODY SCREEN, SO REAL!, are either part of Smod (ie, enabled through console commands/.cfg files) or were made through it's customization files, right?
sven co-op....srsly most people play just to vote spam
Wow, what a bump. Heh, I remember this thread. I certainly sounded alot more angry a year ago.
sven co-op....srsly most people play just to vote spam
ye srsly wat fagz its good.......................................................................that you cam into a tread thats almost a year old to tell us about it....
SPY-maps mods are good and stuff, but for some reason they are somehow bland and give me a headache!
SPY-maps mods are good and stuff, but for some reason they are somehow bland and give me a headache!
The three problems of SPY maps are in fact simple : 1) you will fight 10,000 Combine, 100,000 headcrabs and 1,000,000 manhacks. 2) If you want to open a door at point B, you have to randomly get to point A where some combine will then open the B door... And it happens a hundred times, it's just dumb. 3) Stupid vehicle sequences, where you are blocked every 10 meters by barriers and 100 Combine shooting at you, without nothing to defend yourself. Finishing Coastline to Atmosphere and Strider Mountain was a real pain to the ass. And SPY is currently developing his own HL3, called "Half Life Episode Three : the Closure". It's allowed to think that the mod will be 40 hours of gameplays, 1 billion headcrabs and manhacks to fight, and the already classic apocalyptic ending where you run in a totally burning and exploding base.
Didn't Nightmare House 2 implement them aswell? There were some really wellmade ones in my opinion, but I don't wanna spoil it for anyone.
Yeah and surprisingly decent voice actors start to finish. I'm not saying they're great. But they were good.
1187. It was really hyped up and it looked cool in the media before it got released. Though it was just ugly, unfun, and just really left a bad taste in my mouth.
1187. It was really hyped up and it looked cool in the media before it got released. Though it was just ugly, unfun, and just really left a bad taste in my mouth.
how does a game leave a bad taste in your mouth
how does a game leave a bad taste in your mouth
It's a figure of speech.
1187 is the perfect example of an ambitious mod who did it wrong (my god, the worst sidekick of all time, of all time! -_-). John (best known on Facepunch as "dork"...)
sven co-op....srsly most people play just to vote spam
Die. Just die. Don't hate the game, hate the players...
The worst mod I've ever played would have to be The Long Way: Revenge of AXH. Seriously, it is terrible.
The forgotten ones, Terrible shitty mod dont even fucking try it
It's normally the simple concept mods that take off. I've only ever tried Smod: Outbreak which I kind of enjoyed and smod tactical which I found stupidly hard. I struggled on the first bit where you have to get across the train yard after leaving doctor Kleiner's lab. Don't know if it was me did anyone else struggle with that mod?
I thought the Stanley Parable was funny, but terrible gameplay-wise. Walking around corridors gets boring quickly, and the mapping was pretty dire. Anyway, my worst mod to date would probably be Get A Life, but only because I had no idea what the hell I was supposed to be doing on it.

And if you ask me, it was done perfectly.
Fistful of Frags...
how does a game leave a bad taste in your mouth
I was licking the monitor the entire time I was playing.
bad but fun
As much as I loved GaL, I do admit I found most of the story pretty pointless. All you pretty much do half the time is wander around aimlessly into area after area with no purpose. What plot there is seems pretty lackluster. It's like Alex has no idea what he's doing and is just continuing onwards because he doesn't really care.
I haven't played it in a long time, but if I recall, Alex also had a memory problem.
Tomorrow, I will send the official summary of the synopsis of GaL, it's a mod made by people of my country, I will just have to translate it... But be aware, the story is REALLY completly shitty -_- The intro was good, but then everything went nuts... And it really went nuts, even one of the game designers didn"t know what the hell was going on right to the end.
G-String. That mod is so Artsy and pretentious.....ugh. I know it was only 1 person and it took 5 years, but everything about it feels amateurish and rushed.
Natural Selection for HL1. I just could not have fun playing it.
G-String. That mod is so Artsy and pretentious.....ugh. Some of the music is terrible and the game is incredibly vague when it comes to direction, but overall I enjoy it.
Two of the worst mods I have ever played: Winter mod- http://www.moddb.com/mods/winter-mod/ Multi-Moron- http://www.moddb.com/mods/multi-moron heh...
So, as I promised, here is the official synopsis of GaL/Get a Life, translated by myself : "When Resident Evil meets Hitman, HalfLife2, Farheneit and Beverly Hills: Alex, suffering from leukemia, heals with a treatment stolen by her sister (she works at Vostok, a pharmaceutical complex), which provokes "madness" (zombie): Project name : Tris-HC1 But Alex , Vostok, and her sister, didn't know that side effect. Her sister finally knows the truth ( like everyone in Vostok, where hundred of human guinea pigs are studied) and tries to warn Alex. Alex, isn't here, he miss the call. Her sister quickly panics ( Alex will become a zombie in the city, OMG), she sends a team to retrieve Alex, and as a result, betrays him and herself. ( Vostok is very angry, and will make the sister pay her treachery, but at this point, NOBODY CARES) ---The sister completely breaks down (because she's too much helping him), explaining the "get away! BOOM!" of the nightmare. From there, Alex' sister lose control (her secret discovered, and all hell breaking loose), we'll never hear from her again. Vostok is angry, and will take things back in its control. (but again, everything will go nuts). All of the previous events took place in half a day. Alex go to work, seemingly unaware. Someone tells him a generator is FUBAR, so he goes to repair it, and thinks about a sabotage. Right, BOOM, the "men in Black" (E.V.I.S.) come and knock him down. *TIME WARP* 4 hours ? 4 days ? 4 YEARS ? Vostok decide to make an Alex clone ( which can take 4 hours like 4 years, nobody cares because in GaL, we cryogenize sooo easy!) to study him at Vostok's arctic base. They want to kill the real Alex. Too bad for them, Alex is someone special, so he wakes up while he was supposed to sleep in a hospital room, while at the same moment the vostok's scientists were going to euthanize him. (He woke up with "that" in mind??? Again : NOBODY CARES). So one of the two Alex wake up (the one we play), goes through a labo of skyptel, full of corpses and crumbling, because they test the same treatment. The Alex mistakenly wake up the "other" Alex. For some reason (again shitnobodycaresabout), the "other" Alex's awakening (who became a zombie), launchs the awakening of all the other zombies in the building. Alex has no weapons and must flee, he knocks himself out, and make a "tutorial dream". *TIME WARP* 4hours? Just the time for zombies to break out and for EVIS to launch a counter-attack. Suddenly, wake up, everything seems OK... But no, everything goes nuts. Alex wanders, finds monsters, weapons, places. He also encounters people : -Doctor Hermes, who worked at Vostok, who will die stupidly, we'll find his name on notes here and there. -the crazy guy of the church, who has some link with Vostok (for the 10th time, nobody cares blablabla). -etc... At sometimes, Alex goes on a trip to Arctic, where the clone will travel on your side, but N.O.B.O.D.Y. C.A.R.E.S, whatever, the clone arrives at Vostok too. Alex will find MANY things at Vostok, and will find the clone who has taken the control of the base, and this is the final battle. Alex understands everything, and as his life means no more (because he maybe IS the clone), and then he faces the other Alex. The other Alex dies, and it launchs a chain reaction which destroys all the base. BOOM! And Alex manages to save himself, exhausted, in the snow. ...but... ...shit... Alex falls, does he transform into a zombie ? will he die ? WTF ? *crys, blizzard*" That was GaL : curtains T_T EDIT : here is the original file, in French. I've done my best to translate this shit which is barely comprehensible even in French : http://pyritz.getalife-mod.com/Cnar.txt Don't rate me dumb, I'm just a messenger for this.
