I wouldn't bother with public one's, look for groups that do group/private giveaways and stick with those.
A lot of the time you can find such groups or private giveaways in the SG forums.

do this, this one guy had a win:lose ratio of ~ 200:20, very good, but he was in many obscure private groups that hosted giveaways

My friend randomly asked me if i wanted an invite, no clue what it was didn't bother to check facepunch stupid I know.
