Dwarf Fortress - WHAT ARE ALL THESE CATS DOING HERE
Well, I don't think I have any rocks anywhere.
When I dig down I just get clay/ sandy loam which I presume is not rock.
I need rock for mechanisms, so how do I get people to get out and find some rock?
Dig deeper.
I think I am going to make a fortress and focus it around being an extremely strong military. I don't generate new worlds between making fortresses, so my "world" builds a shit load of history, and then some day I will play Adventure mode, and have a lot of stuff to find I think..

Dig near magma.
I think one of my dwarves was chasing vermin except he never stopped until he died from dehydration.

Replace the old one in the init.txt file. It looks much better.

I had a Spartan fortress once.
I checked out how it would play if I made a spartan fort, with many, many spearmen using hoplite equipment (breastplate, greaves, boots, helm, shield, spear). And with the thinking of "Always charge the enemy, never stay inside and wait for the siege to end". Here's what happened with siege #2.
Crossbowgoblins :colbert:
So I go a level above the walls of the watch post and go to the floor building thing, but when I make it the full size of the walls and put it directly over apparently it's blocked. The tiles 'inside' the walls are the ones that are red. If I so much as make it a single height or width smaller it works again. What's going on and how do I fix it?

The tops of the walls are already floors.
40d13 is out guys.
You mean 40d13
I don't think a downgrade would be such a bright idea.

Yes.
I think the reason I couldn't find any stone till I dug really deep was because I dug down, rather than into a mountain.
40d13 is out guys.
Where do you get it?
Edit: Nevermind.
What's new in this version then
Free zooming, window resizing, etc. No content.
Anyone know if Boatmurdered was done on DF 2d, or was it DF 3d?

In mode 1 it doesn't even zoom for me.. I make the window really big so I can zoom in, then I scroll and it just moves the picture gradually from the top left of the window to the center of the window.. and mode 2 where I can actually zoom in moves the picture around when I move the mouse, which could be kind of annoying..

2d.

That's what I thought.
[editline]12:11PM[/editline]
Oh God, I am reading Boatmurdered because I feel like it, and I laughed so fucking hard when I read this:
The humans bring me a load of meat and cloth. I trade them an elephant in a cage for everything they own. Have fun with that one, assholes.
Fuck, this "StarkRavingMad" guy is the funniest yet!

There are moments in Boatmurdered that had me crying in laughter, especially the last few chapters where it all goes to hell.

Yeah there is some really funny crap in here. But the screenshots that are stretched to hell vertically are annoying as fuck.

You have a very big farm :v:
Yes, my "farm" is rather large.

Why are all your stockpiles and your farm in lines? Why not a full big square? They can walk over the stockpiles/farms.
I also see that you butchered a fire imp.

Habit? Realism? Take your pick, but ask yourself this. Why in Armok's name would you walk over a table and floodgate when you could go around? By the way, I also designate them as restricted for walking on, along with actually taking the time to designate high traffic zones for all the middle lines to my hallways. (To answer your question, good lord yes. It is worth it. It makes dwarfs actually be smart with their pathing decisions, and gets the dwarfs not doing a job out of the way.)

I give you, Caughtcrafts.

Don't mind my OCD for symmetry, it's a problem I refuse to fix.

And yes, I cheated in various ways, but I am expecting the first goblin siege to arrive soon.

I like your tileset. It's not annoying at all to people who play without one, yet it seems that it would help out newcomers.

I personally liked Sankis's dwarf.
"The elephants are striking down the dwarves."
"The mandrills are striking down the dwarves."
"The dwarf is burning."

I meant the way he wrote his story.
-snip-
So, I'm building a fort guarded by a thin chasm. Only entrance will be over the chasm.
All hail Elbowmirror!
