What does the farmers workshop do? As in what do I get out of processing plants?
Add me to the list.
What does the farmers workshop do? As in what do I get out of processing plants?
O hai thar. http://dwarf.lendemaindeveille.com/index.php/Farmers_workshop [editline]01:04PM[/editline] Also I would kind of like to be added to the list, but I know you aren't really adding people anymore. Just thought I would say it just in case you ever decide to add more people though.

My farmer became enraged and had enough time to kill a baby, before being ripped to shreds by my war dogs :(
Well this is a bother, my marksdwarves aren't practicing archery, I've given them the target, wooden bolts and crossbows and everything.
Well this is a bother, my marksdwarves aren't practicing archery, I've given them the target, wooden bolts and crossbows and everything.
Probably just really lazy dwarves.
Well this is a bother, my marksdwarves aren't practicing archery, I've given them the target, wooden bolts and crossbows and everything.
Are they on duty? Do they have quivers (made in leather workshop)? Are the archery targets correctly directioned (Aka. pressing q, going over the target, designating it as an archery range and then putting the direction of fire)?
Do they have quivers
Oh damn it.
If I caught a kobold and a goblin and released them into an arena would they fight each other? Are wild animals/monsters neutral towards other wild animals/monsters?
Captured goblins don't attack once released from a cage, or at least I've never had them attack back. Not sure about other things though.
Anyway, a new fortress is born! Trumpetunited! :P (I just noticed that I accidently posted this in the Oblivion thread instead of this one.. Don't quite know what I was thinking, but whatever lol.
Oh damn it.
Did it help? [editline]09:33PM[/editline] Also I abandoned my fort, it all went to hell when I got ambushed by both several squads of humans AND several squads of high elves (of which half were mounted ON UNICORNS and the other half ON FLYING PEGASUSES.) I managed to fend them off, but lost so many soldiers that it was way too much work to start training 'em again. Besides, half of the high elves became STUCK, and were scattered all around the map floating one Z-level above the ground, so I would have had to train new marksdwarves and then invidually pick each one off their fucking pegasus with them.
Anyone have any ideas why my wrestlers are not sparing? I have a barracks (2 in fact as I thought that the first one was the reason of not sparing) and all squads are off duty. Interestingly the newly formed crossbow squad is actively practising.

Should work perfectly.
Oh damn it.
I don't think they need quivers, in my last fortress the marsdwarves had them in their hauling slot when they went to the range.
I think one of my dwarves was chasing vermin except he never stopped until he died from dehydration.
Seems like I didn't realize that workshops have blocking tiles so the dwarf built himself into a corner and then couldn't get out.

I remember reading some other guide but it was so confusing that I ragequit. I think it was this one.

The illustrated one because you have to fucking click on every god damn picture to be able to see it. And the second one because too much god damn text. Just watch captnduck's tutorials. They are awesome, and teach you pretty much everything in the game.
Someone explain to me, step by step, very clearly, how I would go about setting up windmills to power screw pumps. I have no idea how machinery works and the wiki didn't help.

We had a great platinum mining business going until the orcs showed up and raped my governor with a pike...
Im gonna download tommorw and try it out seeing everyone is crazy about this game. Any tips for a first time player?
Im gonna download tommorw and try it out seeing everyone is crazy about this game. Any tips for a first time player?
Stick with it. That's all I can say really, it is a really steep learning curve, but it is really satisfying to play once you have learned it.

Just explore and have fun (losing).
last fortress I had was failing so I drowned everyone. THIS GAME IS HAAARD :(
Great. One of my wrestlers decided to have a sparring session with an axe dwarf. Mangled his leg :saddowns:
Both my champion axdwarfs sibling were killed in a cave-in whilst building a trap for traders, causing him to go into a tantrum and killing 8 dwarves and 40- something cats. Until he was met by his other brother whom was a marksdwarf and was in a tantrum as well, causing them to nearly kill each other until I accidentaly flooded the bottom level of the fortress because I was fucking with the floodgates, killing both of them and leaving heaps of bodies.
Great. One of my wrestlers decided to have a sparring session with an axe dwarf. Mangled his leg :saddowns:
As I said in the FAQ, if you are going to have any armed dwarves, do not train wrestlers as well
