Dwarf Fortress - WHAT ARE ALL THESE CATS DOING HERE

Dwarves can be hapless little things can't they?
I had miners shaving the mountain away so the rockface was all neat and went around my buildings. Specifically I was channeling from the level above so it gets rid of the floor above as well.
One of the miners must have channeled on his own tile or cut it off from the rockface or something, because he fell down a level and got stunned for a bit before he went off to do some more mining.
Also does anyone else think the game should show more in the units list, specifically mood? I can't really be arsed going through each one to make sure he's wearing his happy face. I know DF Companion has this feature but I'd rather it was in the game itself.
Also does water splash or arc when it falls a few levels?? I'm thinking of making a waterfall into the meeting hall or something, so that when the dwarves have nothing to do they can get a happy thought. If I source this water from the brook, will I be able to make it loop back into the brook so that it'll accept it, or will I have to make it a self-sufficient waterwheel-screwpump circling system?
Also does mist go through walls or onto the level above where it spawns?

Water travels as it would in real life, in an arc and it does splash when it hits the ground, creating mist. Falling water also turns into mist, mist radiates as it dissipates, it can travel through grates and bars but not walls. I had a waterfall exactly as you have described it, I pumped water from a brook using water wheels to power them, pumped the water upwards a few levels and then channeled that into a building with grates as the floor so water could fall through so the dwarves can enjoy the waterfall without drowning. That used water is then channeled back into the brook, here is my video

South of the brook is the 'pump house' where water is drawn upwards using pumps. North of the brook is the meeting area with grates as floors. Notice that grates WILL NOT hold up other tiles, so you will need columns and a solid floor every now again. Look at the pattern I have used for the floor.
How's this bedroom design? (didn't bother to designate it all yet)

Wow, I don't know if swastikas are a popular bedroom design

Well most nobles are like mini-Hitlers in the way they handle things so I dunno about that.

I've finally made a fortress that survived past 100 pop.

I fucking hate large fortresses. Even though it is an ASCII game, your dwarves still slow down the gameplay a bit, and then you need to deal with all the micromanaging like giving each dwarf their own bedroom.
How do I bring sand from a different level, and plant it on a lower level so I can grow some plants?

You can just spill water on rock tiles and they turn into mud tiles. You have to keep doing this though or they dry up. It's better to just plant on natural dirt or sand.

Managing bedrooms is easy if you plan ahead. Always have more than you need.

You dont have to assign bedrooms, they will take any free bedroom available. All you have to do is size the room.

I think it dries between seasons. Maybe it only dries when there's a farm built on it.

Unzip to the destination folder (you have to create the folder). Run df.exe to start the game.

Dwarves are happier if they have their own bedroom.
Who gives a fuck about making dwarves happy any other war then a lengendary dining room.

They claim unclaimed bedrooms. It then becomes theirs.

They do that before the economy aswell?
They do that before the economy aswell?
Don't think so.
They do that before the economy aswell?
Yes they do. The claim them when they sleep on them.
As I said in the FAQ, if you are going to have any armed dwarves, do not train wrestlers as well
Tell that to the immigrants. Although technically they are wrestlers they are fighting with axes and chain mail so I don't see what the problem is.

They won't actually be using the weapons and they'll turn your armed dwarves into wrestlers. If you get any wrestler immigrants, make them civilian.
Installing DIG DEEPER because Legendary Lands just crashed my game. One more casualty. Also get on steam chat.
I'm on the steam chat if anyone is coming on, I'm not playing but I'm up for chats
