Christ, WHO'LL MAKE MY BEDS NOW? Also, as a caravan was leaving my fort, the carp dragged the entire wagon into the water, and killed most of the humans. I bet they think it's my fault and siege me.
Another hardworking dwarf, killed without remorse by the fish of the devil.
Wait, I thought you were doing a land battleship?
Nope, sky battleship.
Well, screwing around in the raws, I got managed to re-do a lot of the stuff I had changed to the races before, however, I'm stuck on how to get races to war the dwarfs, or visa-versa. the snatcher tag isn't working for me, and making other races evil isn't either. Whats some more ways to do this? Also, awhile ago, I came across an island that had a river break into 2, and re-join at the other part of the map. Along with this, the river had water falls right after it broke off, giving it a nice 5 z-level drop. I no longer can play that map, and was wondering what is the easiest way to re-create that. Could I also get some help with this?

Elves will siege if you chop down a shit load of wood, and humans will if you kill enough of them (sometimes it only takes 1). Could also install mods, things like the Ogre mod etc.
Will elves still attack if you farm trees?
Don't think they care about mushrooms.
Ye si play this from time to time. It's funny to see some child snatchers get completly and utterly mugged by your army which now consits of heros because they have been sparring forever.
Don't think they care about mushrooms.
oh yes they do
Will elves still attack if you farm trees?
If I remember correctly elves don't care about tower caps.
There is proof that the elves care about tower-caps!
Complaints are tied to the number of logs in stockpiles, not to the number of trees that have actually been cut, so you will still get the complaints if you import wood. Note that underground tower-caps also factor into the limit (who lets the sneacky elves peek in our caverns?).
See the Liaison page for more details. So you have to treat the tower-caps like any other tree for the elves.
But then we get to the issue "Who the fuck cares about elves?"
You have a point there Kwal.

Don't click those.
You have a point there Kwal.
I'm not too fond of making my dwarfs in to walking pincushions though.
Don't click those.
What are they?
I just realized I could set up temporary workshops on the surface while my miners mine an industrial level! Sometimes I miss the blatant obvious in this game.
I like to set up habitation ASAP I start undergound then i'll make a fort around the surface.
iPope, I used to do that too. Then one day, I realised I could build some mason workshops in the corridors to get some stuff pumped out whilst I wait :p And I remember i'd always make my Carpenter / Woodcutter chop trees nonstop until I had a room made for him. Rather than chop down 10 trees, then set up his workshop and get him making beds :p
Is there any warning between you chopping one tree too many and getting raped by elves? My military's a bit piddling at the moment, and there's lots of uses for wood, barrels, bins, beds, charcoal, ammo etc. The elven trader that came didn't seem that pissed off about trees and didn't say anything about a limit, but he got angry when I tried to trade a bin and didn't want to trade after that. Maybe I should spam a few stone-fall traps near the entrance in case.
You won't get tree cutting limits until you get a Barron, but elves don't like being sold wood. I say make the traps anyway as it is always handy to have an ace up your sleeve.

You should probably change the [TITLE:] part so you can find it in the list.
Anyone got a quick guide for how to set up a tower cap farm? the outside is scary and causes dwarves to be killed.
My fort. I merged the Z levels together for the map. I started off by using play now and took it head on. I didn't prepare anything. Although I did lose one dwarf to a carp at the start, it's going nicely.
do I need to actually find an underground pool? or can I just irrigate a self dug cavern and they'll start growing, I'm not sure if my current fortress has an underground pool.
do I need to actually find an underground pool? or can I just irrigate a self dug cavern and they'll start growing, I'm not sure if my current fortress has an underground pool.
You have to find an underground river or pool, but you don't have to irrigate with it.
One of my dwarves is according to the job list always attending a meeting, he has never spoken to a liaison or traded at the depot and he seems to be following the dwarf who trades with caravans, drafting him didn't make him stop either. Is it some weird bug or the first stages of madness? (His mood is currently miserable).

I think they only start giving a shit later on in the game.
