I just tried trial for the game. I'll say that I'm quite impressed, the game feels like Morrowind Online (which is awesome, btw) and I'm thinking of buying it.
I just wanted to ask season players, what is the game like later on? Right now I'm doing some "tutorial" quests but what is there to do after?
I know DF is much like EVE, open-ended sandbox but still.
Eventually you can join up with some nice guys in a clan or a giant alliance.
Own a City,Hamlet or just live in a NPC city or Chaos city.
There is alot of progression so you can always learn and level up new things.
If you get bored being a mage then you can just go an archer.
Or become all 3 melee,archer,magic(hybrid)
You can craft ships,Get a house(which is kind of rare now)
Craft weapons,armour.
Go digging for treasure when you find a treasure map.
GM's come into playercitys/npc citys and do raids as giant skeletons and brownies.
Also the new Darkfall 2010 is basically going to be a re-release of the game with new graphics and more features.
Just tried the game out. I'm hooked, archery is a lot of fun the grind quests are a bit of a turn off, but if you don't focus on them they complete them selves anyway.
Yea I remember when the game wasn't shit and when the game took skill. Wouldn't trade those days for nothing.
Mmh i feel like playing darkfall now but my subs ended and im all outta cash.
Game is pretty shit. I used my friend's copy and it was on my HD for about an hour before I uninstalled it. If they pulled a Turbine and made it free then it would be understandable, but for the price it's going at it's not worth it.
Its only redeeming quality is that Mortal managed to be even worse.
Pulling a turbine ruined Lord of the Rings Online in the first place.
Always cashshops ruin games.
Darkfall is fine but it needs to get more freedom then it currently has.
And playing darkfall for 1 hour and calling it shit really doesn't help either.
I can goto my brother who bought wow and played it for 15minutes as a hunter and called it shit straight away because i took his place.
You need to experience the game more before your opinions are true.

Ruined? Tell that to DDO.
Also one hour is all anybody needs to know something is shit. If a game can't capture a person's interest within the first few minutes then the game is not worth the effort. It looks like shit, it has no real direction at all, the UI and general interface is possibly the worst I've ever seen in any game, and it's entirely frustrating. The game is mediocre at best.
Graphics are fine,It's a sandbox game figure what you want to do, The UI is shit i agree but they are fixing that.
Frustrating yes but you get used to it, If you saw no safezones pvp ofcourse you will be nervous and frustrated because someone out there is waiting to kill you.
What did you expect from a full loot pvp fps/3ps/rts sandbox game?
Love this game so far, I'd call it Morrowind Online (Which is awesome btw).
What i especially like about this game is that:
1. You are afraid do die, really. There are really few games that have that feeling.
2. The game does not drag you through it, you choose for yourself what you want to do.
For example, i found a chest key several times, so i decided to raid a goblin village on the other side of the map to open a chest guarded by Goblin mini-boss.

I'm thinking of buying this, but if my school continues like it is right now, then I wont have time to play it at all, only in the weekends, and seeing as I have like 80 games on steam, and play WoW and am thinking of buying eve too... oh god damnit fuck me.

You shouldn't have to get used to any game. That alone is a warning sign that a game is bad, and no, that graphics are incredibly dated and ugly.

Old? The last post before mine wasn't even a day old. It's pretty bad when your argument devolves to that. I was expecting something at least constructive, and while I agree that graphics don't matter when it comes to gameplay, it doesn't help that the gameplay itself is flawed on multiple levels. It's at a time like that when good graphics would help to some degree, but in Darkfall's case it only makes it worse.
The Graphics have been improving throughout the months like the terrain texture update.
Also they are releasing more visual magic and eventually add dx11 with new models and motion capture animations.
Some gameplay mechanics are fucked yes but people are making suggestions to help AV get things done.
Besides it's your opinion and honestly i don't give a fuck.
Be a hater all i care.
Graphics are decent, they're good enough to not to be disturbed of.
Sometimes DF even looks really pretty when you are at the right spot, landscape is amazing.
