What?
Beta starts in April?
Aaw maan :byodood:

The controls will probably be close to the controls for x3.
For fuck's sake, been waiting for the closed beta for years...

So have I, my friend. So have I.
Uh Oh
That looked very instanced... No free roam space at all, just Pick mission, load into it, do it, back to station

Oddly enough, thats exactly how eve works... Except jumping replaces the loading screen.

EvE feels big and empty, just like space, and as long as you're in a system there's no loading screen between any two locations, this video has me a bit worried in thinking that it's nothing like EvE or Freelancer in terms of freedom of where you go... But more like Battleswarm. Sit in the lobby and pick a mission, or in this case the station, and then load in and do it, like a level from a game, until completed
I hope that's not the case

Every jump was a loading screen. Thats why theres more acceleration gates on higher level missions just because theres more to load in higher level missions.
But it's seamless, and you can orbit planets, travel from station to station without warping at all if you really wanted to (At least the ones close enough to each other so it wouldn't take all day)
With Black Prophecy it's looking more like X3 in terms of the environment. Just No Gates or anything. Load in, Planet in the background, which is actually 3D, but no orbiting or anything like that, just the small play area for the mission
Well, why would you want to go from planet to planet without warping? It just seems pointless.
And warp gates are not seamless. They are like a Mass Effect elevator.

It is pointless, but my point is you can do it if you want to... the video for Black Prophecy looks like everything is just a small instanced place to play around in, and they're all separated, not by a warp gate or load screen, but by a sort of lobby you sit in and pick missions from, seems Bland

Well, they have half a year before the beta comes out, so they should be able to fix that.
So I heard Closed Beta invite emails were sent around, anyone get one?
I was hoping for Jump gate to come out but since that game died out a while back I guess i'll wait for this one now XD

It isn't dead, they were showing off the reworked game at e3 this year, and it looks damn good.

:O
Where is this stuff!
BACK FROM THE DEAD.
This game is on my list of "Must play MMOs"
Looks like EVE Online, only fun to play.
I was in the closed beta, it was OK.
Theres tons of glitches, but its beta.
But these glitches were so obvious and so widespread, I question if the devs even tested their own game.
One mission, your shooting at stationary turrets that will randomly shift to the side, so you need to constantly re-aim at them. And because they are stationary, you can't chase them, and you can't kill them in one pass, and theres 10s of them. To make it worse, they are around a space station, and the physical and visual space stations are in different spots. So that means you'll fly right through a solid piece just to smack into a wall that isn't there.
The difficulty of the mobs is just insane. I had alot of the better gear and these ships would shoot down your ship in a matter of seconds. And the aiming is delayed and slow, but thats just beta. One thing that isn't a bug is the fact that your ship can't turn when having no forward momentum. So if you slow down to turn, you turn less.

What. I thought Black Prophecy was supposed to have traditional, Newtonian flight physics. :ohdear:
Back to looking at Jumpgate for me.
Hope to god they fix all that...
Also, if you die in a mission, it kicks your out of the mission and tells you to restart the mission from the very beginning. Not that bad until you realize that these missions are "Epic" so that means they can take a good 40 minutes to complete.
take a good 40 minutes to complete.
Sold.
Sold.
When I say 40 minutes to complete, I mean, Shoot down 20 guys with a turret mounted on a ship. Wait 10 minute for the next wave to come. Rinse, Repeat until mother ship comes in. Shoot at weakspots on the ship, some of them only being exposed for a few seconds on a 2 minute cycle. Once finally killed, hope that you didn't DC from the server, because you'll have to do it all over again.
Tl;dr
10 minutes of decent gameplay, 30 minutes of rage shit.
I'm getting some Freespace 2 vibes over here. Anyone else?
