For Fun but not as Realistic, Forza. For Realistic but not as fun, Gran Turismo. (Don't like my racing games to be too realistic)
Are you kidding? Forza 3 has to be the most realistic driving sim I have ever played. But I guess it's all up to opinion, though.
I prefer forza because of the customization. [editline]14th November 2010[/editline]
Are you kidding? Forza 3 has to be the most realistic driving sim I have ever played. But I guess it's all up to opinion, though.
Not even close.
If you have both platforms, get both of them. I don't know about GT, but Forza's customization is amazing.
Forza 3 is an awesome game. I've played both Forza 3, Gran Turismo 3,4, and 5(Prologue). If I had to get rid of all of them except one, it'd definitely be Gran Turismo 4. When you look at the pros and cons of all the Gran Turismo games and all of the Forza games, Forza usually comes out on top gameplay-wise. But there's something about it that I can't put my finger on. Something about it that just doesn't make it as fun as Gran Turismo(excluding Prologue; Prologue was horrible). It could be the Career mode that just feels really slow, I'm not really sure. But I do prefer Gran Turismo over Forza.

Gran Turismo has more of a "car porn" feeling to it than Forza. for those that don't know: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=car%20porn
Project Gotham Racing 4 It feels far more genuine than Forza.
Forza 3 is Xbox's Gran Turismo 5... If I had both consoles, I'd go for GT5, After all I did buy a Playstation 2 for the sole purpose of playing GT4. Forza isn't bad though, but this is coming from a guy who thought Sega GT 2002 was awesome as fuck (And it was)
I said "that I have ever played", not ever.
That's a bit hard to interpret though. If you say the most realistic game you've ever played is Big Rigs, then of course someone is going to say you're stupid. If that's the only game you've ever played you're still telling the the truth, but we don't know what games you've played and what games you haven't. This means that most people will make generalizations of what games most people have played. So he assumes you've played a game that's more realistic and that your Forza 3 opinion is wrong.

I have not played any Gran Turismo game, only a multitude of other racing games.
If you use a controller, Forza. If you use a wheel, Gran Truismo. The Xbox controller is much easier to drive with, but Gran Truismo feels absolutely fantastic with a wheel.
ummm. gt5 on the 24th PREORDERED COLLECTORS EDITION! CANT WAIT! so yea gt5
they both have totally crappy suspension/weight transfer physics
Stop bashing.
I prefer the more arcadey physics and general "look" of Forza. Also, F3 had one hell of a trailer:
Gran Turismo all the way
Gran Turismo 2 has been the only Gran Turismo i enjoyed. But i enjoyed it immensely. Meanwhile, i have enjoyed every Forza game, with its customization and stuff. It all comes down to our opinion, and i feel that Turn 10 has put more effort into making its games realistic, and fun, while GT focuses a huge amount on realism. I like how Forza has added the slower and larger cars, like the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne. They are slow and shit, but are rather fun to drive with friends. Will GT5 have Suvs? I hope so, it adds a fun alternative instead of just having the usual dull racing cars.
I haven't really played Gran Turismo since the 3rd, but I used to love that game on my PS2. I play Forza Motorsports 2 these days, might get the 3rd one aswell.
Stop bashing.
kill yourself
kill yourself
You did it three times already. What's more, you said both.

Stop.
Goddamnit, let's keep the thread on it's rails. If you guys must argue, do it with PM'ing eachother.
How come there's always some kind of fanboyism when it comes to threads like this? Why choose one or the other when you can choose both? :v:
And due to the narrow field of view in the cockpit view, it's unlikely you'll be able to see your mirrors. It's difficult to defend your position when your situational awareness is limited to what's straight ahead, but after the last paragraph, that mightn't be a problem.
This and the steering. The cockpit field of view is so low that it's impossible to judge your speed correctly. Coming up to Arnage corner on le sarthe feels like 30 but you're going about triple that. [editline]16th November 2010[/editline]
they both have totally crappy suspension/weight transfer physics
Enthusia on the PS2 I think has got to be the best console game for feeling of weight to the cars.
Forza has always been the better simulator. Why the fuck would you rate me boxes? Forza kicks GTs shit as a sim and as a racer. If you want "professionals" input then check MC since obviously I'm a fucking idiot.
Enthusia on the PS2 I think has got to be the best console game for feeling of weight to the cars.
I play that one too. They got several uncommon cars, including SUVs and Bugatti.
Now... Before I everyone thinks I am a horrible Forza fanboy (which is actually true, now that I think about it) I have not properly played Gran Turismo since GT2. So I can't really comment on which one is better, but I just want to give you all my opinion of Forza 3. Forza 2 was a good game, but compared to the old Forza it lacked some of the customization options (especially technical stuff) In Forza 1 you could adjust the turbo pressure and ignition timing etc. Naturally I was looking forward to Forza 3 because I thought they would add these options again, but obviously I was disappointed when I got to play for the first time. The series is going in wrong direction (atleast that's my opinion), being more "easy". However customizing is still done very well in Forza 3 despite the lack of more technical options. I love how you can fit other models engines in your car and change your FWD to RWD and so on and so on. Enough about customization. Forza has always felt... "realistic" (I'll explain that in a minute) to me even when playing with controller (which I use most of the time). Now.. you can't really tell if for example the steering is realistic when you play with controller, but what I can tell, is that the _response_ from the car to the movement of the wheel _feels_ realistic. Even through the controller I "feel" the weight of the car. I know what will happen if I drive 100km/h into a corner, brake hard, tap handbreak and floor it while turning into the corner. I know that with real car in the same situation the response would be much the same (Yes, I'm finnish, I know how to powerslide a car). at high speed bumps in the road really do matter. With enough downforce you maybe don't lose grip, but your vision (in cockpit view) does shake around quite convincingly (<- Is that even a word?). Without downforce, you need the reflexes of a rally driver to prevent crashing into a wall. There's alot more in the game that to me qualifies as "realistic" but you need to actually play the game to understand this. Nowadays I play the game only with my good friend though. I find it entertaining and thrilling to drift down Fujimi Kaido Old Downhill with cars we have created and tuned from scratch. And maybe that is the best use for this game... to me it seems alot more entertaining than Gran Turismo (Yet again, just my opinion, and not even a good one since, I haven't played the new one) which is more concentrated on pure realism (atleast it seems so). Though I did read somewhere that in Forza 3 there's 30 sensors per tyre to measure temperature, angle, pressure, friction, torque and so on and so on. Because I'm so skilled writer I think everyone missed my point completely, but thanks for reading anyway... I'll try to sum it up for you: Forza 3: I love this game, seems realistic enough and most of all very fun. Gran Turismo 5: I don't know much about this game, seems extremely realistic, but not very entertaining* *Some people do find extreme realism very entertaining...** ** I don't. I tried Microsoft Flight Simulator yesterday and ended up crashing through the terminal of Helsinki-Vantaa Airport when trying to take off... - Alieni2
