Rayman for third-party character. [editline]1st February 2012[/editline]
I would like to see Lanky Kong as a new character http://www.giantbomb.com/lanky-kong/94-3309/ A reckon he could be pretty interesting
Hell yeah, his ability to stretch his arms would make for some interesting moves.
People keep suggesting Funky Kong... however from his appearances I have absolutely no idea what possible playstyle he should have. In almost every game Funky has been in, he has been in charge of rentals. In the other games, he has been driving vehicles. Basically, nobody has ever seen him actually move around and nobody has seen him fight. Lanky however, was one of the playable characters in Donkey Kong 64, and he had many unique abilities of his own. So he'd be much easier to base a new character on as he already has a lot of examples of how he fights, moves, and what special abilities he has. Another possible alternative would be Dixie, but aside from her hair she's not very unique from Diddy.
Chunky Kong could be a character, seeing how he has the muscle and grit of Funky, yet is playable and fights hand-to-hand in DK64.
Aren't Lanky/Chunky/Tiny owned by Rareware?
Aren't Lanky/Chunky/Tiny owned by Rareware?
Everyone except Chunky appeared in Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, so apparently not.
Aren't Lanky/Chunky/Tiny owned by Rareware?
They are still Nintendo property believe it or not.
Chunky Kong could be a character, seeing how he has the muscle and grit of Funky, yet is playable and fights hand-to-hand in DK64.
True, but all in all I still think Lanky would be much more unique from Donkey Kong, Diddy, and any other character compared to Chunky. Here's a video of someone playing him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6P38URVDkJA 2.32 downwards B 3.13 taunt 4.56, 6.28 dash-attack 7.38 basic double jump 8.16 meteor smash 10.28 basic A-button attack Basically, he's got a very good start :P He could be fast moving and have long range on his melee combat attacks, but not be very good at jumping and only deal moderate damage.
Diddy Kong is boss. Nimble and quick attacks with sufficient reach. Up+B's a bitch to manage, though.
Regarding the Fox clones discussion, I actually enjoy playing Wolf much more than the other 2
I'd say revamp ganondorf and wolf definitely, but there's some clones I'd rather they didn't touch their movesets. Like Luigi and Falco. I like how they are too much and it would take a lot to make me feel at home with a drastic upset of their playstyles. Basically keep most of the clones that are already in, change a few kind of how Ike plays differently than Roy without replacing. DEFINITELY don't add any new clones. Too many as is. Lucario's different enough from Mewtwo and I think it'd be neat to have them both. Mewtwo needs some serious buffing though. Fun to play if you know how to use him properly but a lot of his moves are useless. I already mentioned his side-b reflect being awful, takes more timing than its worth and leaves you immobile and vulnerable too long after the fact and doesn't even return damage. Maybe give him some unique passive ability like Lucario's got going on, with the damage dealt proportional to the amount of damage he's taken. [editline]1st February 2012[/editline] they also need to get rid of fucking tripping but that's obvious anyway [editline]1st February 2012[/editline] at the very least give us an option to turn it off [editline]1st February 2012[/editline]
I think they should add unlockable costumes for each character. Like Mr.L for Luigi, Waddle Dee for Kirby, Dr. Mario for Mario. That way you can have different appearances for these characters without having to add clones.
they did this with Wario I really have no clue why they didn't with everyone else That way we could have classic sonic / old snake and all those with different colors for each costume to boot
Same with Captain Falcon and look how that turned out.
There's actually a lot of non-game material that looks at the Cap's bounty hunting career.
Same with Captain Falcon and look how that turned out.
Most of Captain Falcon's moveset came from before Nintendo thought of adding Mario and such into the game and the characters were just generic fighters.
If Ganondorf gets a complete revamp, he should really use his sword regularly. A sword character as heavy as Ganondorf would be interesting.
Quote and Curly as alternative "color" Or at least Pacman.
If Ganondorf gets a complete revamp, he should really use his sword regularly. I did main him in both Melee and Brawl (G tier, get at me) so maybe I'm a little biased.
Quote and Curly as alternative "color" Or at least Pacman.
As someone who cared enough about Cave Story to get <three minutes in the final area, I can tell you that neither would be suitable for smash bros.
Ike is a heavy sword user.
He's got a shitload of moves that allow him to move really fast, though.
he's still pretty slow though
Same with Captain Falcon and look how that turned out.
I realize that, and I realized that before I made that comparison. There is a major difference between Funky and Captain Falcon. Captain Falcon is the most iconic character of a very well known Nintendo racing game, Funky is a minor character in the Donkey Kong universe. He's not as important as Captain Falcon, and therefor not as necessary to include in the game if you're forced to come up with new moves for him with nothing to base it on.
yeah, but Nintendo already used most of their well known characters
He's got a shitload of moves that allow him to move really fast, though.
Same with Ganon. Not so much in Brawl, but in Melee he had lots of capabilities when it came to getting around.
Same with Ganon. Not so much in Brawl, but in Melee he had lots of capabilities when it came to getting around.
And that's because he was a literal 99% Captain Falcon clone in Melee.
if chibi-robo makes it in ssb4, what do you think his attacks could be? i'd think for one of his special attacks he could take out a toothbrush and swing it. his up+b could be the helicopter rotor that comes out of his head in the game
So over this last week a buddy of mine and I decided that we would do something we had wanted to do since we were little kids. We created a Smash Bros league for our friends. We simply posted on FB asking if anyone would be interested and ended up with 18 people (both male and female) asking to join! We made a rulebook, ranking system, tournament brackets, and everything! We even got a giant ass whiteboard for the room where we'd be playing (we used my buddies "man cave" because it has his wii hooked up to a flatscreen) so we could draw up the giant brackets. We had our first meeting today and it was some of the most fun I've ever had playing Smash Bros, people were really into it and things got really intense. It really is something I had wanted to do for my entire childhood.
