Unrelated to DF: Seems that informative man is spamming ratings somewhat, everyone on the previous page got an artistic rating from that person, this page seems to be funny.
Ratings spam isn't bannable and is completely harmless. Don't make useless posts stating the obvious.
Uh...
One of my yak cows just gave birth, and the calf immediately gored the mother in the throat and lungs; she suffocated to death.

Keep an eye on that monster, probably would be wise to kill it before it grows.
Artifact, a green glass portal (aka. window)
glass portals are doors.

fffffffffffffff
I finally discovered what was killing all those demons and magma creatures!
The magma sea has fucking a hole in it, and it's all drained into hell.

please advise.

oh sod it, I'm draining the cavern lakes into it!
seal hell with obsidian! :science:

I decided to booby trap the mine shaft, should any demons break down the door that has sealed the bottom end of the shaft, the massive amount of water will encase them and their buddies in beautiful obsidian, which I will then use to build a staircase into base of the map and set up some forges down there.
Is anyone else having problems with Dworfs suddenly stop dead in their tracks and stand there untill they go berzerk?
I was wondering if there would be any interest in a walkthrough + easy mode raws(by me), or if I shouldn't even bother.
Is anyone else having problems with Dworfs suddenly stop dead in their tracks and stand there untill they go berzerk?
Not exactly. Sometimes when my soldiers come off of duty, generally after a battle is over, they return to the spot where they were once stationed and stand there for a while, almost like they were grieving for their fallen comrades.
Any nice tile sets that you'd recommend? I want something that makes the game pleasing to look at. Bright colors on black tends to get a little painful to look at after a while.

Extract "art" to the data folder, and replace colors.txt with that one (it's in data/init)
Set the "Cooz_curses_square_flat_16x16" as the tileset in the init files and try it out.
Hm, so if I make a channel and put a retractable bridge ontop, what would be the cheapest/easiest way to kill whatever falls down?
Hm, so if I make a channel and put a retractable bridge ontop, what would be the cheapest/easiest way to kill whatever falls down?
Just make the channel like 4 z levels. That should kill pretty much anything.

unless it can fly
unless it can fly
Well then you shouldn't be building a channel to kill them in the first place.
Oh and there's some rat remains in my fortress, but I can't seem to get rid of them, I tried choosing dump but that did nothing.

Refuse stockpile outside. p-r
So Facepunch, what does your fort look like at the moment?
Here's mine:
This is the entrance to the fort. Just some walls with two frontal towers and some cage traps.
[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/115.bmp[/img_thumb]
This is the growing area/weapons and armor storage.
[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/28.bmp[/img_thumb]
This is the main level of the fort.

I'd like to see how other people set up their forts.
Disabled the menu on the right somehow :v:

Press tab until it comes back.
unless it can fly
Actually, I think if it dodges into the channel, its put into the falling state, and will die from hitting the ground anyway.
-snip-
So there's some green shit under a lake, how would I drain it without losing my grand master miner :v:
Tell all your dwarves to stop at the lake and drink. If it worked for the Persians it can work for you.
Can you capture elves in cage traps? I killed the Elf trader and I'm expecting some elfs to come to slaughter me but I want to capture them as pets and monsters, degrade the forest fairies to the level of beasts.
...Some dwarf moved my bookholders table and door one space :v:
Went on a school trip with some friends and I brought my netbook with me. I started a new game and named people after my friends.
I plan to put one of them in a room with grates. Underneath there will be a room for refuse. Maybe the fumes will make him stronger.
Started playing again, learning little bits as I go (Mainly due to this thread!)
New fortress of "Quakebowels" took a turn for the worse when the river unfroze with a floodgate open.

Pending burial storage.

EDIT - It's over, the last dwarf (My die hard Mayor) Was scared to death by a soap maker materialising seemingly from the paintings of trolls adorning his bedroom. There was a brief flurry of hope when the river froze, but there was not enough drainage to clear the fort.
Holy shit. I'm about to get a baron!
Edit: I guess it's not as big of a deal as I thought it was, still it's my first. so yay
Have fun with your hammerer.
