Dwarf Fortress v13 - Orkel looses a roaring laughter, fell and terrible!

I thought Orkel said that adamantine armor sucks because it's so light though
that's why you use adamantine chain under steel armour.

It's very poor against blunt damage but it's good against everything else.

I thought you'd use steel armor then adamantine chain mail under it.

Shittiest against blunt, impenetrable against edge
Steel plate on top of adamantine chain shirt = best.

ffffffff
Silver sucks for everything but warhammers.
This is from the wiki and explains it pretty well.

I was searching for that picture! Thanks.

Thanks for all the information everyone!
How do you get your guys even to equip multiple armors in one slot? I assigned chainmail + breastplate in the uniform section for one of my squads, but they only wear either one, not both.
They DO wear masks + helmets for some reason though.

There's a limit.
Try making their uniform the following:
1 helm
1 chain shirt
1 breastplate
1 pair of gauntlets
1 pair of boots
1 greaves
1 high boots
That should work.
Just started playing with Phoebus tileset.
The combat is so much fun.
I killed a little girl by stomping on her head and crushing her skull. :v:
And I keep getting raped by those bogeymen.
[editline]4th May 2011[/editline]
You should be able to bite peoples balls off.
It's a shame my fortress is a lost cause.
It had a lovely gold road and enough bedrooms to house more that 200 dwarves.
all above ground, in the middle of a white sand desert too.
ooh, first fell mood.
The one time I tried adventurer I never had problems with bogeymen I kept chopping of their body parts whenever I saw them.

dbhubos' death

Orkel bled to death, can't find a specific attack that caused him to bleed.
[editline]4th May 2011[/editline]
But I found his body

Anything you want me to do with your body? (both for Orkel and Dbhubos)
Too bad I started with humans, even while I started at a dwarven civilization (bug with adventure mode? choosing dwarven civs still makes you start with humans around). This makes me unable to wear your good iron armor.
[editline]4th May 2011[/editline]
Or can I wear their LARGE iron mail shirt? If so, how? It tells me I've nothing left to wear.
I'm guessing Mayday's tileset is still the best choice for people who don't like ASCII? Thinking about trying this out again.

Ironhand's in my opinion.

how to twist a weapon once it's lodged into a wound?
[editline]4th May 2011[/editline]
Ambush!

This could be the end, I am low on men, the rest is hurt, and there are quite a bunch of ambushers around me.

I even managed to get some ackward title thing. Oh well. Time for Scratch VI - Headthrower (I will pick up all heads I can, and throw them at my foes)
[editline]4th May 2011[/editline]
I'm using phoebus right now. Just a bit of changing around using lazy newb pack, which is quite useful since you can switch tilesets in a pinch.

thumbed for possible bigness.
- The road leading out is more or less all gold, with a bar of bismuth bronze or two for good measure.
- The really big building on the left is the dorm, it goes up about 4 z-levels and can house over 200 dwarves.
- The tower in the upper right corner houses the king and mayor.
- The building leading north is the jail, with the criminals thrown in some cages in a pit.
- The utter cluster-fuck of dwarves and blood is the meeting area, with a artefact statue at the centre.
- The entrance has a ton of full iron axe blade weapon traps. to stop camels, seeing as how i haven't seen a single bloody goblin at this site.
oh, and the farm is in the bottom right of the fortress, providing plentiful plants, honey and eggs.

I use phoebus, it's the cleanest in my opinion.

I am probably gonna make an above ground city too in my next fortress. making towers with workshops.
Everytime I go to a quest it gets night and I get raped by Bogeymen.
anyway to make the day longer? or a way to not get raped by Bogeymen on the way to a quest?

Get followers, they reduce the chance of boogeymen attacks by a lot, even if you only have one.

Sleep until dawn, then go to the task location, do the task, sleep in the cave (if it's a cave) and so on.

That spearman has my name, what the balls?
I'm alive, but for how long?
I do the same stuff with my friends, and I had to tell my friend he had been killed by a Capybara.
Well, that adventure is over, I died. I'm now gonna play fortress mode once again on that world, maybe an engraver will carve stuff about my hero or something :downs:

I'm still alive?
Neat.
And a pikeman. How appropriate.
my fortress is just about dead.
lost nearly 200 dwarves in less than 4 hours in the primary spiral,
the secondary one just about finished off everyone bar a miner who fell down the well.

Hahaha i just realised why it's so appropriate :buddy:, good one noticing that. But still, i died, so everyone is gone.
You'll still be a pikeman once i get one in my fortress.
