Dwarf Fortress v13 - Orkel looses a roaring laughter, fell and terrible!

[QUOTE=Twistshock;29753776]With the proper undead coming up I guess it'll be the end of simply lobbing prisoners/kittens into pits. Gotta start using atom smashers on kittens and prisoners; a waste of gory descriptions as they bleed out imo.[/QUOTE]
Nah it just adds more fun to the pits if they fall down, break a leg and then get savaged by zombies.
Anyone got a version of the newest DF with a tileset? Can't seem to get the Mayday one working, and he hasn't updated for a while.
Devlog, again
[quote]Set up the knowledge structures for historical figures, gave them a little place where they can perform some extra independent actions beyond their civ concerns, and got them occasionally worrying so much about death that they begin to seek immortality, the secrets of which they can receive directly from any available death god of their pantheon at this point with a little waiting and luck. Once I get their powers working, I'll go back and make the secrets available in a few more ways. Then it'll be on to letting them cause trouble for dwarves.[/quote]
Haven't played this since around December, I remember rage-quitting after one of my dwarfs went into a frenzy and ended up killing literally my entire fortress consisting of 100 dwarves.
Any new/notable changes since then?

I don't know when they added it, but the whole bee industry, egg industry, pottery and grazing stuff was new to me when I started again recently
Haven't played since .16, guess I've got a lot of catching up to do.

That just reeks of immortal adventurers.
i hope so
Also, was tasked to kill some bandit and his ragtag band of ne'er-do-wells.
came across their camp and they were all just standing around, picking their noses or whatever bandits do.
walk up to the guy I was sent to kill and he goes:
'It is good to finally meet you!'
'I am Ases Lightninggills, how can i be of service?'
I was honestly weirded out.
going to take him back to the town and see what happens.
found out the source of that human/goblin town.
world peace, bar a few human and elven bandits.
[editline]
[/editline]
the bandits started beating up the villagers, then one woke up and obliterated both of them in a couple of turns with a boning knife.
they then went back to sleep as if nothing had happened.
I feel that, in playing as a mushroom, I should be the weirdest thing, but the NPCs out do me once again.

I use Phoebus's set. You should try it out its great!
Download lazy newb pack, it's quite useful.

It has several tilests, like ironhand, mayday and Phoenix.
apparently a male elf became princess of the elven nation that's at war with my adventurer.
Goodbye, Loofiloo, the moody glassmaker. You will be missed :smith:
(he got locked off with walls, waiting for until he starved)
Got my first titan attack today. Cept he got stuck in the river beside my base.

A bunch of trolls (:v:) with goblins came to my fortress and broke a flood gate and flooded a part of my base. I ended up having to build trenches for the water to go somewhere else so I could build walls to stop the flooding. I forgot to wall off one part that was a ramp and the titan decided to go in it lol.
one of my new migrants wants rough gems (fey mood), but there are enough lying on the dump (which I DID reclaim)

oh god I just removed the trade depot while some elves were busy, now their shit is EVERYWHERE.
[editline]11th May 2011[/editline]
and the dwarves are stealing all their stuff without them giving a fuck.

TIME TO BREW BEER WATER SOURCE CONTAMINATED :byodood:
[editline]11th May 2011[/editline]
I need to find flux stone for steel. the map said it was on the area, now I just need to find it.
My dwarves are refusing to equip breastplates and mail shirts, they just sit in the depot constantly switching out the two.
Also I have been under siege by goblins for the last year and a half, every time one leaves another one shows up immediatly after, these are sieges of 50-70 goblins and my military isn't nearly well equiped enough to handle that, and the fuckers wont leave so I can't build fortifications around the walls because every time I send anyone up there they get shot the fuck up by goblin bowmen.

Goblin problem solved via magma flooding.

Tell your Dwarves to replace clothing with armor, the issue you're having has to do with your Dwarf "wearing too much clothes" to put both pieces on.
Lazy Newb pack is the best thing to happen since bananasplits were invented.
my horse is starving. why?

Did you set it out to be put in a pasture?
This one guy is screaming he wants rough gems, there are tons of them. Why doesn't he just take the fucking gems?

You have rough and cut gems, right?
Do you have glass?
I do not have glass or sand.
[editline]12th May 2011[/editline]
wait maybe the elven caravan had, I removed the depot while they unloaded their stuff, so now It's all mine :v:

Do note, they hate you now.
And will return next year with an army.
Very good archers in my experience
Devlog!
[quote]The immortality power works, and the ones that can raise the dead run off by themselves soon after, eager to play with their new friends. Next I'll be focusing on the actions of their group now that it is established.
The dead arise tonight! [/quote]

Fuck.
I posted quite a while ago on the Bay12 forums about adding travelers to fortress mode. They'd arrive like migrants and pay for rooms to stay in, then leave after a while. They could be from any civilization that's not already at war with yours, and there could be a chance for them to petition to have permanent residency. Would be neat to have the occasional human or... or elf... under your command if you so choose. But in any case, I'd like for there to be more interaction with the outside world. I certainly hope Toady develops something along those lines.
Wooden beds, chairs, desks, tables, even more ways to go to war with the elves.

in that vein, I'd like too see individuals that shun the normals for their species, like elves that hate wildlife/dwarves that love nature/friendly goblins/smart, educated kobolds. they could be wanderers, but allowing them to permanently reside in your fortress could irritate the civ that they were exiled from.
I want random adventurers that roam the lands and complete quests just as you would do in adventure mode. Sometimes these might visit your fortress, and old adventurers may wish to retire there and bring their skillset to your use.
I made a waterfall enclosed in glass windows. Everyones PUMPED about the windows. But no one has thoughts on the waterfall.

I think they have to come into contact with the mist.
Make glass vertical grates/bars or something for full effect.
