Yeah she will, the only way to stop a dorf from working is death or insanity.
To be a Dwarf is to: Work At all costs. Party at all costs. Die at all costs.
To be a Dwarf is to: Work At all costs. Party at all costs. Die at all costs.
And also to keep yourself on the edge of insanity at all time and at all costs.
Am I the only one who, almost instinctively, builds almost everything on one level underground? Like everything from sleeping-quarters to stockpiles are on one floor. I just don't want to be bullied into using the '<' and '>' keys too much. :smith:
well it's better to use multiple floors for faster travel. And it isn't hard to use the keys.
I mapped z-level changing to + and -. And I only build stockpiles & farms in soil as it generates no stone and is really fast to mine. Actual rooms go in rock since I can smooth & engrave it to increase value.
the elves are gonna be pissed [editline]15th May 2011[/editline] not pictured: the wooden second story on all those buildings. the big town hall is probably going to be at least three or four too. [editline]15th May 2011[/editline] in future i'll be making a big moat around the whole place too. shame there's no water to fill it :I
the default colors, they burn my eyes!
You must build a pink wooden house shaped like a heart
Oh boo. My mayor and best miner just fell down a hole and died while mining away that outcropping. Ironically it was because I decided to use channeling instead of mining away the bottom layer because I thought it'd be safer :I [editline]15th May 2011[/editline] On the plus side we completely owned a minotaur that turned up. The first strike took his arm right off.
The goddess of blight, disease and death was named Spothrib Sweatsucker. In the late winter of 41, she created a brass slab engraved with the secrets of life and death. It was named Suckmucus the Dead Manges. She gave it to her pupil, Issha Goodpondered, who learned from it and then hid it under the town of Wanderedwreaths before fleeing into the wilds to start raising corpses from battlefields. There the slab remains!
Sweet
Orkel's mod apparently fixes kobolds? Link?
What are the rules that dictate where Magma should be? Below a certain z-layer, only around certain stones, is there a pattern to it?
Not sure about the rest, but there's always a magma sea at the bottom of the map. It's usually deep as fuck though.
I've never played this game, I guess I'll try it out.
Not sure about the rest, but there's always a magma sea at the bottom of the map. It's usually deep as fuck though.
There's always a magma sea, then a dungeon that may or may not house some very Hidden, very Fun Stuff.
I haven't found a single cavern on my embark and I've dug probing tunnels in about 5 different locations varying from 20 to 40 z-levels deep. What's up?
I'm surprised some people still play with the default graphics. Ive found the game unplayable without a good tileset :/
I'm surprised some people still play with the default graphics. Ive found the game unplayable without a good tileset :/
The only thing change I use is a square icon sheet, and even then I sometimes use the default.
I'm surprised some people still play with the default graphics. Ive found the game unplayable without a good tileset :/
I actually tried tilesets when I first started playing and liked ASCII more. Never had a problem with identifying the ASCII characters... more so figuring out how to dig and not die. :v:
I like tilesets that make the ground look "solid", if you know what I mean.
Tile sets are for babies.
What are the rules that dictate where Magma should be? Below a certain z-layer, only around certain stones, is there a pattern to it?
On my surface fortress I ended up hitting magma, after two caves, at arround Z-lvl 46
Orkel's mod apparently fixes kobolds? Link?
Art/init goes to data (if you want square ASCII tiles instead of rectangular ones, and better colors), and objects goes to raw (for the balance mod) http://horobox.co.uk/u/Orkel_1305640283.rar [editline]16th May 2011[/editline] Needs a new world genned
So I just lost half my fortress to a botched aqueduct going over the magma dam. thankfully, no-one remotely important was harmed, so that's good.
So I just lost half my fortress to a botched aqueduct going over the magma dam. thankfully, no-one remotely important was harmed, so that's good.
Only in Dwarf Fortress can someone casually talk about melting half their population and call it "acceptable losses."
well I was having a space problem anyway :v: the incident also broke the outpost liaison, so he just staggers around the scene of the disaster doing bloody nothing. they sent a doctor to do the dealings this time.
the default colors, they burn my eyes!
Your eyes have gotten weak
Is there a way to reserve a barrel for alcoholic drinks. Every time I go to brew drinks I also need to make a barrel or he cancels it because theres no food storage available.
Is there a way to reserve a barrel for alcoholic drinks. Every time I go to brew drinks I also need to make a barrel or he cancels it because theres no food storage available.
I think you can limit the number of barrels a food stockpile uses using (q)uery
Fucking what? I'm real lucky. The first adamantine block I EVER mined in my entire DF career turns out to be one of the four hollow pillars that open up the way to the Circus Tent. There are four hollow pillars on most maps with one triggering the Clown Party, and I just happen to get the one where all the Clowns hang out.
This is probably not !!FUN!! but I am going to take some serious precautions when finding cotton candy, if I last that long.
