Anyone know how to target limbs specifically in adventurer mode? Also, I'm going to make an Inn But every adventurer who comes to rest shall mysteriously die by one dwarf named "The Ripper".
Alright, I'm going to try out Dwarf Fortress today. Is there a certain tileset I should download or should I stay vanilla?
Hm, is there a updated Mac client :(?
Reposting for new page.

It's obvious: Toady One is going to be the creator of Sburb.
I was trapped on a relatively small island after embarking there in adventure mode, but everyone there tells me to go to some lady in a fortress to get a quest. However, no matter what I say to her, she doesn't do anything. I was next to the seashore, planning to swim across it, and rested for the travel. I wake up to the ocean being frozen over. Guess I'll be walking across. [editline]31st January 2011[/editline] Okay, the game crashed trying to go across. With nothing to do, I will retire. I can't kill anyone with all these companions, last time I tried they killed me. Looks like it's time to start a dwarven demigod with all stats in strength and axes, and destroy everyone.
I finally struck adamantine in my third cavern!
I don't get this, I played adventure mode but everythings empty. No wildlife or interesting people to talk to/kill.
Anyone know how to equip / unequip weapons?
Inns! I wanted this! Toady is a fucking bad ass!
Anyone know how to equip / unequip weapons?
Basically, whne you pick something up, you put it in your hands if there's nothing in there. If there is, there should be some button to put that thing in your bag. I once lost my axe and picked up a berry in its place (Accidentally), And spent the next hour beating people to death with a berry. Are the tutorials posted in the OP up to date?

weighted phrase limit of 100 115 ((dwarf, fuck)+fuck+is a fucking+-travel+-tutorial). I love you guys.
Reposting for new page.
The Mac version on the DF website is the latest version.
Anyone know how to equip / unequip weapons?
Drop your item on the ground that you are holding, as well as the item you want to pick up. Pick up the one you want to equip, and it will be equipped. It's a broken system right now.
Had too many dwarves in my best fortress, so i had to abandon it. I hope the reclaim goes well.
Had too many dwarves in my best fortress, so i had to abandon it. I hope the reclaim goes well.
What? Why didn't you just murder them all?
My friend was able to reenact the lord of the rings scene where Boromir died, just by chance. He made a military dwarf and named it Boromir for laughs. Later, during a siege, Boromir rushed out to fight the invaders. Boromir fought a bunch of goblins and killed them, but took damage. More goblins kept coming until he was outnumbered 6:1, but he kept fighting. Some other dwarf came to help but got killed instantly, but on Boromir fought. He continued fighting when his entire spine was broken, and continued when he was hungry. He fought so long that the goblins got tired, and then he kept fighting. It's pretty epic. Now he's reenacting 300, basically. He drafted every single dwarf in his fortress and sent them to this 6 goblin mosh pit
Needs more arrows to the chest.
My latest fortress was going surprisingly well, I had embarked on a glacier for a little extra challenge. I even hit an aquifer that was small enough to be manageable and deep enough to not freeze when i tapped into it. Then i ran out of alcohol and all my dwarves starved to death trying to get a drink from the well.

I mean, as far as the airships go, picture something like two of them firing away at each other- when suddenly one gets a bad hit and the gasbag ignites. It plunges to the earth, hundreds of feet below, and all the while the dwarves (or humans) aboard it are hurling themselves out of the gondola to their (probable) deaths. And think of how awesome naval battles would be, with fires raging and splinters flying across the decks injuring people. Vessels plunging down into the sea, drowning the crew aboard who are scrambling up from the decks below in a vain attempt to save themselves. Oh well. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
DF will be even more of an fantasy world simulator than it is now. Toady One's wisdom has no limits.

Any idea how i get my animal trainer to actually tame small creatures? I keep getting the error: Cancels tame small animal: needs tamable small creature item I've checked and the creatures i'm trying to tame are tamable. Also, that death by thirst/hunger while drinking thing: I've figured it out the water freezes when it gets to the level they're on, so they keep trying to get water untill they die.
Back to DF. Let's see if I can keep with a single fortress longer than a day. Ah, good ol' v40. Still stuck with thee, until I can run a good fortress.
Going to try out DF. Should I play Fortress or Adventure?
Adventure mode is less complex than Fortress mode but you don't experience the same thing that you would with Fortress mode. Since you're starting out first time try Adventure mode for a while and when you think you're up to the challenge of Fortress mode give it a shot.
I seriously hope that Toady adds some sort of story-hook thing to your world for adventure mode when you generate it. Like, eventually the gods decide to purge the world, or if your adventurer had parents they can eventually get abducted by a villain, and you have to go and kill him to save them, but it's a trap or something. Just little story hooks that can add more detail to the adventures. On another note, I'm somewhat sad that Toady won't add in airships. Airships would be cool.
