Hmm? That sounds like a pretty good biome actually, especially if it has a magma source.
I was talking about dwarf fortress in general.

If the worldgen screen put you off to the point of "fuck this" then oh god ahahah the rest of the game.
New DF talk out.

how do I make my dwarfs invincible.

Train the hell out of em an give em all admantine armor.
Train the hell out of em an give em all admantine armor.
Only to get oneshotted by a copper whip through your masterful adamantine helm or breastplate.

i mean how to make them invincible by editing the raws

That's if you don't mod their stats to be more realistic.

There is no "true" way to make them invincible, there are ways to make them not need sleep, food, drink, or experience fear or anger though.

Edit the raws, replace the following:
[BODY:HUMANOID:2EYES:2EARS:NOSE:2LUNGS:HEART:GUTS:ORGANS:HUMANOID_JOINTS:THROAT:NECK:SPINE:BRAIN:SKULL:5FINGERS:5TOES:MOUTH:FACIAL_FEATURES:TEETH:RIBCAGE]
Note: This will, surprisingly enough, not kill your dwarves.

No skull? What is this madness?
I want to give them admantine skin or something.
This is my plan as of now, what do ya'll think? Hueg images though.

That's a pretty bad idea, the skull is there to protect the brain and the dwarves without one could basically kill themselves by punching themselves on the head which would smash the brain into goo.

Liking it thus far, just remember to put a roof over the big entrance area.

Okay for a small fort but those stock areas are tiny, you'll have to greatly expand them when you get more dwarves.
I suppose. I can expand downwards too.
I want to give my dwarves admantine skin. how do i do that
I want to give my dwarves admantine skin. how do i do that
I seriously doubt that it's even possible with how tissues are defined, although i reckon you could make them invincible by simply making them amorphous blobs with beards and arms.
I seriously doubt that it's even possible with how tissues are defined, although i reckon you could make them invincible by simply making them amorphous blobs with beards and arms.
And how do I do that?
Is there a way to get May Green's graphics for a 1024x768 screen?
And how do I do that?
Alternatively alternaviely, you could make them out of bronze.
Changing their bodies to this should do it:
[NOBONES]
[BODY:HUMANOID:2EYES:2EARS:NOSE:HUMANOID_JOINTS:5FINGERS:5TOES]
[NO_THOUGHT_CENTER_FOR_MOVEMENT]
[TISSUE:BRONZE]
[TISSUE_NAME:bronze:bronze]
[TISSUE_MATERIAL:INORGANIC:BRONZE]
[MUSCULAR]
[FUNCTIONAL]
[STRUCTURAL]
[RELATIVE_THICKNESS:1]
[CONNECTS]
[TISSUE_SHAPE:LAYER]
[TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:ALL:BRONZE]
That won't make them invincible, but it will make them as hard to kill as a bronze colossus. (In theory)
Increasing the [RELATIVE_THICKNESS:1] would make them even more unkillable. (Probably)
Changing the INORGANIC:BRONZE to the material of your choice might work to, haven't tested it.
The best part about the above is if a bronze dwarf goes beserk.
If it works, please do inform us.

Nice, I hope you're going to build some kind of hellish trap filled maze at the entrance, with guard creatures (something expendable) as an early warning system. (against theives and ambuses)
Toady added that after saying that he wasn't happy how shortswords and all other weaponry required 1 log of wood to be made into a handle.
That's how dwarves do it. Charge into battle holding a gigantic log with a teeny blade on the end. :black101:

Can you provide a complete raw file?
The raw file of the dwarves is full of instructions and I don't know if it's safe to erase it.

they (the instructions) aren't part of the code, so it'll be fine.
it's just there as a tutorial for defining stuff and editing raws.

Excellent song at the end.
Okay so, what would prevent my farmers from planting?
I've got fields built on muddy ground right next to a stockpile full of plump helmet seeds, I choose plump helmet on the farms and voila! None of my four planters do anything. Any ideas?

Is it set to the correct season?

This design isn't too great.
Besides being incredibly small, you only have places for basic workshops. Once you get more than 20-30 dwarves, you're gonna need more than one of each workshop. The placement of the workshops themselves isn't that great either, that will funnel every dwarf through two tiles.
The bed design also funnels the dwarves, I don't really think you'd need that many weapon/armor stockpiles either.
You could expand it down, but that's more difficult to maintain.
I've got an issue with my hospital... After the goblin siege, there were too many wounded dwarves for each of them to get a hospital bed. Some of them are resting in their own private beds (including one who got wounded so heavily, I'm amazed she's still alive). Now that there are free beds in the hospital, how do I move these other resting dwarves into it?
Also, I have a stockpile dedicated only to mechanisms (of all materials and quality) but my dwarves won't put the mechanisms in it. They're just piling up in the workshops. What do I need to do?
Is it set to the correct season?
Yuppers. It's winter, if that matters. Also, plump helmets can be planted in sand, right? As long as it's muddy?
Or does it need to be dirt?
Ha ha ha oh god, one of my dwarves was sitting in the hospital, stitches in his chest and ear, resting in a pool of his own blood (and the blood of about 10 goblins) when suddenly he drew into a secretive mood, got out of bed, and ran off to a mason's workshop.
This must be some really important shit.
And all he grabbed was one piece of schist.
And it's a grate, encircled with bands of schist, worth 2400 dorfbux. Well, as long as he's happy with it...
