Ha ha ha oh god, one of my dwarves was sitting in the hospital, stitches in his chest and ear, resting in a pool of his own blood (and the blood of about 10 goblins) when suddenly he drew into a secretive mood, got out of bed, and ran off to a mason's workshop. This must be some really important shit. And all he grabbed was one piece of schist.
Moods to dwarves is like living to us. No matter what the condition we're in, how close we are about to die. We have to do it. :v:

Another question: My dwarves never seem to be making any progress with their training. They're giving each other demonstrations all the time (usually on dodging or striking) but I never see anyone's skill increasing. Is there something I need to do to speed them up? also nmagain, if you want the changes to work, both the game's raws and your save file's need to be edited.
Okay so, what would prevent my farmers from planting? I've got fields built on muddy ground right next to a stockpile full of plump helmet seeds, I choose plump helmet on the farms and voila! None of my four planters do anything. Any ideas?
So long as it has "a light dusting of mud" or shit like that, it'll do. Also, can your dudes access it, no forbidden doors? Do your dwarves have the labor enabled? Did you set Plump Helmets on all seasons?

Put them in room every now and then. Watch them become legendary in 1-2 years.
I can imagine a dwarf going "ARRRGHGHHHHH" while pulling a level back and forth.
Is it too late to request signing up for the list of those who play?
also nmagain, if you want the changes to work, both the game's raws and your save file's need to be edited.
looks like i came on time [editline]23rd February 2011[/editline] it works with bronze but not with adamantine, why?
it works with bronze but not with adamantine, why?
Adamantine isn't defined as a tissue, but bronze is.
Adamantine isn't defined as a tissue, but bronze is.
Oh. would giving them magma tissues (Like magma men) make them burn every flammable object they touch?
Oh. would giving them magma tissues make them burn every flammable object they touch?
Including themselves. The skin may be magma, but the rest of the body isn't.
Including themselves. The skin may be magma, but the rest of the body isn't.
burning dwarves are cool
How the christ do I get rid of all this blood on my grass? It's been here for years and is very unsightly, and I swear the elf traders avoided my depot because of it. [editline]23rd February 2011[/editline] What's a good way to lure someone's pet (e.g. a cat) away into a drowning chamber?
Wait for rain. Rain washes away contaminants.
Wait for rain. Rain washes away contaminants.
I don't think I get rain, bloods been there for 2 years now.
I don't think I get rain, bloods been there for 2 years now.
DFHack can remove blood. I use that often.
Try to empty buckets of water on the blood? I can't recall if you can order dwarves to empty buckets in dwarf mode though.
I don't think I get rain, bloods been there for 2 years now.
DF simulates weather fronts, so it's likely that your fort is in an area where either rainclouds don't form or they get diverted by a mountain when they arrive from another area or something.
Oh man, my mason just jumped into the river because he couldn't build a wall.
Try to empty buckets of water on the blood? I can't recall if you can order dwarves to empty buckets in dwarf mode though.
Designate an area as a pond and dwarves should try to fill it?
Shame dwarves can't fill buckets with magma, It'd make filling moats a lot more Fun.
Designate an area as a pond and dwarves should try to fill it?
Has to be from a z-level above though. He could try to pump water over it.
how do i pump
Is there any way to prevent my larger livestock from starving to death? I put them in a pasture that's as large as it can possibly be, filled entirely with grass, but they're starving anyway. My fuckin elephant is dead, man
how do i pump
With pump
So long as it has "a light dusting of mud" or shit like that, it'll do. Also, can your dudes access it, no forbidden doors? Do your dwarves have the labor enabled? Did you set Plump Helmets on all seasons?
Yes to all.
how do i pump
you construct a screw pump: http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Pump Remember that the materials need to be magma proof if you are pumping magma.
