With the way DF is, I think electricity would be a great addition for fun. Especially if it conducted through water, and especially if it arrived in lightning bolt form.

Think about the smell it would leave.
Think about the smell it would leave.
Barbecued Elf with plump helmet gravy, yum.
How do you remove buildings?
d>n I believe. or q>x.
d>n I believe. or q>x.
q+x if it's a structure like a Carpenter's Workshop, and d+n if it's a Construction like a wall.
Thanks. Why does DF hang forever when I save? D: I mean, it saves the game and all but it seems to take a while. Much longer than I remember.
Fuck lightning traps. Fire traps would be badass and period correct.
Fuck lightning traps. Fire traps would be badass and period correct.
Legitimate pit traps would be even better. Maybe even traps meant only to push enemies around!
Indiana Jones style boulder traps.
Snake filled pitfall trap!
Snake filled pitfall trap!
No, pitfall trap straight into Hell. Or maybe a murky pool filled with carp, with Jabberers and Giant Cave Spiders on the shore, leading into your trap-lined fortress entrance. I'm sure there's some way to implement pump stacks and lava into the mix as well.
Electrified water pit with creatures in it, in hell.

I've found that generally dwarves will be happy with a 2x2 room. With multiple 5x5 rooms for nobles.
I've found that generally dwarves will be happy with a 2x2 room. [editline]10th January 2011[/editline] Oh God, just tested the Human code I posted and you're able to bring plump helmet spawn and other indoor plants with you on embark. Now they're just Dwarves in all but name and size (and being able to make scimitars and war axes.) Has Science gone too far?
I find the longer your fortress lasts the more you tend to obsess about your traps. My current one's rather good, it's a labyrinth which is flushable with water. Into the forgotten beast reservoir. Seemed like such a good idea to trap him there, but it seems he doesn't need to breathe. And is toxic. Maybe I should try linking it into a circular loop and getting the contagion onto the goblins. Does that work?
I used 2x3 rooms, looked very neat in rows, all symmetrical like :3:
1x4 rooms are probably most space efficient. 1 bed, 1 cabinet, 1 chest, with the forth block having the door. 2x3 rooms with a separate door isn't very space efficient, but it's very good for keeping dwarves comformable.
I always do 3x3 rooms, no exceptions, with asymmetrical rooms for the nobles in the shape of a Dwarf with a beard and crown. Specifically this: [img_thumb]http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk125/Frustratedsigh/TheCitadelofSteel-154-region1-25-1.jpg[/img_thumb]
Humans can't make regular bows and arrows?
They can make bows and arrows, just not wooden arrows. You are able to make everything a Human can use, while you can also utilize everything a Dwarf can, but a human normally can't.
Is it just me or are his infrequent blog updates getting kind of frustrating lately? I guess it might just be Christmas season and it's certainly not really his responsibility to update it everyday but still, I guess i'm just impatient. I like progress updates.
They will come when they do. Toady has started a Party at the Masterwork Granite Table Shit.

I really need to get back into this game. I just get lonely while I play it. :smith:
You should name all of your dwarves and develop an attachment to them so it's like you're controlling real people.
