Well, got bored with my fortress. Let the clowns in, lowered my bridge so the goblins could come in too.
Just to top it off? A forgotten beast just arrived.

If you've settled in a somewhat peaceful zone, and haven't breached through to any underground caverns or hell, then it's understandable.
You'll probably get hit by gobbos or something eventually, and if you get bored you can always go see the circus.

It also appears that I have lost 1,000 posts.

Hit a cavern a while ago. Think its level two.
A troglodyte found its way in, and it got butchered in ten seconds. Now i have a hall of traps defending both entrances. ^-^

First let the rest of them go insane.
I waited until there was one dwarf left. A child who was outside my walls.
I checked the legends after I abandoned it, he starved to death. :saddowns:
So much crap has changed :psyduck:
oh god there are eyeballs and tendrils coming out of the ground in terrifying biomes
whaaaat
So, I just had an army of dwarves maul an elephant with their bare hands, beat it unconscious, and damn near kill it, then leave because it got boring. Am I a bad person?
If a dwarf gets stung by a bee, are there any negative thoughts or damage, or is just aesthetics at this point?
Time for this comic again.

Oh the mirth.

Probably armor, I find it's the best use for adamantine tbh
Do adamantine clothes protect at all?
[editline]4th March 2011[/editline]
Animals need to eat now? God damnit, looks like I can't pit them indefinitely.

If you have a healthy goblin stockpile you should able to manage.
Or am I wrong?
This fortress is less than a year old, but it appears only milkable animals such as yaks or water buffalos need to eat grass, and as they don't breed like cats it's not a problem

Make around 6-7 sets of full armor+weapons, then use the rest for furniture.
i have made some armor and weapons out of adamantine for my legendary soldiers who arrived with the queen

I'm pretty sure they do, try it out in the arena.
so an ambush came and killed half of my dwarfs and everyone decides they should run out into the open to get killed instead of staying safe behind traps,
is there any way i can get training and equipment enough for withstanding a ambush early on?

To prevent them running into the open to get the dead dwarves and their stuff you should have made a burrow to keep the dwarves in.
How would I go about making a creature that explodes violently when it's skin is pierced?
How would I go about making a creature that explodes violently when it's skin is pierced?
Make its blood lava and its skin heat resistant? When someone stabs it, it may not explode, but it will burn everything to shit. Not sure if it would work, just a suggestion.
Would setting the homeotherm above the boiling point and ignition point for whatever I choose to use as blood work?
I wish dropping something at the temperature of the sun in water would cause a massive thermal explosion wiping out half the map
even if it meant that my computer would process one frame for a week
Wouldn't the water just vaporize before the object touch the water?
Pretty much. And the result would be the same.
The water would change to it's gaseous form of steam.
